What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

  • Old Fashioned from A Little Bit Biased

Thanks everyone for the well wishes!  I really appreciate it and I'm just so thankful that this wound is on my left hand instead of my right.  I can still type :) and do most everything.  I've found the hardest things to do [less one thumb] are the simple things, like, buttoning my pants and fastening my bra [I know, TMI :) but it's true!] Anyways, as a family we're heading off to San Diego today
  • Highs and Lows from A Little Bit Biased

This could be considered a "low" but it was actually one of the funniest moments I've had in a long time.  Picture me: sprinting down the street in my running clothes [all by myself at 7:30 in the morning] with a shower cap on my head and a small towel wrapped around my shoulders like a shawl; held together with a "claw" clip.  Laughing. All. the. way. home.  Again, I repeat, all by myself.
  • Does anyone else see the potential in this? from A Little Bit Biased

O.K. So I am not a thrifter per say, but I came home with a little purchase today that my husband called "Junk".  I personally think this will be darling as my sewing/cutting table in my [soon to be] new sewing room. $52 dollars for this little baby.  It has two drop down leaves [which I think are quite charming:)] Cute spindley legs [I like to make up words...] And it's white!  Perfect for
  • Work in Progress from A Little Bit Biased

I'm basically caught up on this Block of the Month project.  While the hubby was away at Scout Camp a couple of weeks ago, I was busy needle turning all 3 layers of the 8 flowers on this quilt for the May blocks.  It was my first go at needle turn applique, but I just didn't have the time to prepare all of the pieces with freezer paper (like I normally do) so I decided to just dive right in.
  • The Original Candy Hearts Quilt [Finished] from A Little Bit Biased

It's done. I loooove the quilting on this.  Nice and tight.Ric rac sewn down.Just.  Lovely.Kayleen [if you're reading this], you're awesome! I also love pictures of quilts.  So I took about a million.  Care to see a few? I snuck onto my neighbors property to take these pictures.  Then I climbed [well, let's be honest, I trespassed] through the fence onto some horse property. Then the husband
  • Wild Thing from A Little Bit Biased

I've got a few new things to show you.  While the hubby was away at Scout Camp last week, I stayed busy trying to finishing up some WIP's (works in progress.)  So for the next few days I'll be showing some of those projects.  The first project I want to share with you is one you may have seen before when it was in the cutting/sewing phase.  It's done now and I presented it to it's recipients
  • Stash Manicuring AGAIN! from A Little Bit Biased

I was a little worried about guest posting for RaeAnn over at the blog Stash Manicure today.  Creating an interesting blog post can be a little difficult without a camera [mine's at Scout Camp and will be home later today].  But, thanks to my mom, I was able to get some photos of my latest finished quilt top.  Go check it out and learn about the fabric "freeze" I'm on!
  • {Smile} from A Little Bit Biased

Receiving an email from Sharon made me smile. She sent me pictures of this Candy Hearts quilt she made: Isn't it fun?  She said it came together in just a few hours and she's working on another one [queen size!]  You go girl! She even put the recipient's name on the back.  I love it!  Both of the Candy Hearts quilts that Sharon made/is making are gifts for special people in her life; a business
  • A Couple of Winners from A Little Bit Biased

Well, today is the day.  I want to thank all of you for the sweet birthday wishes over the last few days.  (That's me - 32 years strong!) It was so fun to hear about all of the cool gifts you guys have given and received over the years.  Thanks for sharing all of those memories with me.  I really enjoyed reading all of your comments. Well, do you want to know who the winner is of my "Goodie Bag
  • Needle little Inspiration? from A Little Bit Biased

I was so thrilled when Jodi from the blog, contacted me the other day to see if she could feature A Little Bit Biased on her weekly (?) Needle little Inspiration post!  Of course I said yes and I have to say, she's got a fabulous blog herself.  Go take a look around ~ She'll inspire you in more ways than one.  Jodi is one amazing quilter, a Northwest girl (like me) and is "in the know" about
  • Na Na Na Na Na Na, You Say It's Your Birthday! Na Na Na Na Na Na, It's My Birthday Too! from A Little Bit Biased

[Sorry about the LONG title.  I couldn't help myself. "16 Candles" - it's a classic.] Anyways, I do have a birthday coming up.  Yep, that's right. It's on Tuesday and just for fun I've decided to give a little "goodie bag" to one of you (my wonderful blog friends!)  The winner will win this fabric assortment and Mod Medallions pattern!  There are thirty-five 8" squares of fabric here (enough to
  • Inspired from A Little Bit Biased

So.  We were inspired.  My SIL and I were inspired by this cute, cute quilt over at Cluck, Cluck, Sew .  We decided we needed one for ourselves.  We swapped some fabrics, manicured our stashes and whipped up some ziggy fun. This baby quilt is actually going to a sweet, little bundle of joy that will be arriving in our family very soon. My SIL is making a twin size zig zag quilt for her son's bed
  • I need your ideas... from A Little Bit Biased

So a few months ago my neighbor asked me to join a small quilt group that she was organizing.  There are about 8-10 of us in the group so far.  We've enjoyed lots of yummy treats, inspiring show and tell and started learning about new tricks/gadgets.  I was hoping to be able to take some ideas to our next meeting of some new traditions or activities that we could implement.  Do you have any
  • A Gigi's Thimble Interview and Giveaway @ Pastimes Online from A Little Bit Biased

A few weeks ago, Valerie from Pastimes Online contacted me about doing an e-interview.  With a little trepidation about sounding like a complete moron, I went out on a limb and said yes [I figure, I already make a fool out of myself on this blog, one more piece of cyberspace won't kill me!] Find out who inspires me, what music I like to listen to when I'm stitchin' away, life before Gigi's
  • Just a few things... from A Little Bit Biased

I got an exciting message today from Tracey at TraceyJayQuilts.  She's been working on this pillow using my Mod Medallions pattern! Isn't it so fun!?!  I love her fabrics and how different it looks just by using different colors for the backgrounds (instead of white like my version) and leaving out the sashing.  Great thinking!  Tracey, you're making me want to make another one!    I told
  • Guest Blogging over at Stash Manicure today! from A Little Bit Biased

Have you heard of the new blog, Stash Manicure?  It was started last month by the amazing Rae Ann Nilson of the blog, Cutie Pinwheel (I'm so lucky to get to mingle with her at our awesome quilt guild!)  It's a fabulous blog that's quickly taking off with authors and followers from all over the world!  Can you guess what Stash Manicure is all about?  Go check it out for yourselves and see what
  • It's that time again from A Little Bit Biased

I've been wondering how Blogland would carry on with so many of my favorite people off at market... and then I remembered Amy.  She's hosting the 3rd annual Blogger's Quilt Festival right now.  This virtual tour of quilts is a great way to get to know other quilty bloggers and enjoy a whole lot of eye candy in the process.  Stop by Amy's blog to get a list of all of the entries in the festival.

  • A Giveaway For You! from A Little Bit Biased

O.K.  I am so excited about this.  My sister Cassie has offered to give one of my readers this beautiful bookmark.  It's so perfect; I just can't get over it. She had a giveaway a few weeks ago and I was one of the lucky winners.  I fell in love with mine and thought they would be the perfect Teacher Appreciation gifts for the end of the year, so I ordered two for my kids' teachers.  They come
  • Meet Gigi ~ from A Little Bit Biased

I thought it might be fun for you guys to meet my Grandma, Delma (affectionately known as Gigi by her grandchildren). Today my little sidekick and I stopped by my grandparents home to get some pictures of my grandma and some of her quilts. These are just some of my favorites, but I've got lots of pictures to share, so let's get started. First up - she just had to show me this new purchase that
  • A Mother's Day Gift & My Wedges Are Done!!! from A Little Bit Biased

I'm a few days late, but I wanted to show some pictures from our Mother's Day Brunch with my extended family on Saturday.  My mom decorated all of the tables with this egg/chicken theme.  She is so creative.  Entertaining and tablescapes are definitely her thing.  She really goes all out!  Aren't the paper skillets such a fun idea?  I just thought the whole thing was so cute.  Good job Mom! The
  • Color Me Bright from A Little Bit Biased

I'm a girl who likes to use up scraps.   So when my Sister-in-law Brittany {totally amazing quilter - check out her blog!}, told me about a really easy dresden tool, I knew I had the perfect fabrics to try it out on.  A lot of these fabrics are left-over from my Mod Medallions quilt, some are from my Wagon Wheels quilt and I had to buy just a few to freshen up the stash a bit. I'm roarin' to go
