Triangle crazy 014 from Adventures of the Bear Creek Quilter
Would you look at this….
All crinkled and soft. I so really like this now. The batting I was testing was Simply Bamboo from Fiberco. The batting sample started out 18″ square, and once washed and dried it finished 16″ square. So it did shrink quite a bit. To be fair, the directions tell you to machine wash and dry on the delicate cycle. I used the regular cycles in both machines.
Now the back,
Oh these pictures can’t even begin to give you any idea how soft this little quilt is. I have several quilts with cotton batting ...

Triangle crazy 007 from Adventures of the Bear Creek Quilter
Crazy Train, Fragments, Hoarders anonymous or Patriotic Confetti were all titles I thought would be great for this post. This small quilt came about as left over triangles from the quilt laying underneath it. I picked up a bamboo batting sample at market and wanted to test it out. In talking with Amanda about another project this one emerged.
So here is what I did. First I cut a piece of white fabric the size of the batting (18″x18″), then while I was following doctors orders and elevating my leg. I used a run of the mill Elmers glue ...

leg pics 014 from Adventures of the Bear Creek Quilter
The batteries were the problem with the camera. So today with a functioning camera I was able to take some pics of my goodies from spring market.
The first one is a baby quilt from here. I can’t wait to get started on this one. You might be able to find these pretty kits at a quilt shop near you.
The second photo has the rest of the fabric goodies I picked up. In the lower left are a couple of CANDY BARS from Moda. Next are 3 charm packs, one is a Darlene Zimmerman PAPER DOLLS and the ...

leg pics 009 from Adventures of the Bear Creek Quilter
So yesterday I attending the international spring quilt market. I took a guest along. It managed to recharge my quilting batteries. So many ideas and such great fabric to see and NO PICTURES. I tried to take a pic yesterday morning and the camera didn’t work. AAAUUUUGH!!!! So I am recharging those batteries to see if that was the issue.
My blog follower know I have been having trouble with my leg. 2 1/2 years and it still is not healed. This is what it looked like last week when the camera was working.

A friend of mine sent me this in an email. Just some fun jokes this morning. They made me laugh and lightened my spirits, I hope they do the same for you. Now it is time to get some work done. Enjoy!
MEN!?!
One day a housework-challenged husband decided to wash his Sweatshirt. Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to his wife, ‘What setting do I use on the washing machine?’ ‘It depends,’ she replied. What does it say on your shirt?’ He yelled back, ‘OHIO STATE!’ And they say blondes are dumb….

Picture from Adventures of the Bear Creek Quilter
Inspired by Sew Cal Gal’s Christmas quilt virtual tour, I pulled out last years UFO Christmas quilt. Well I could cover two birds with one quilt. I finished it so it also became a finish for this challenge. I ventured outside in bitter bitter cold yesterday for a good picture. Well I got the picture but it wasn’t the best. So I put it on my antique sleigh bed this morning and took another picture. The quilt is flannel back and front, and quilted with a snowflake panto which I will probably never use again. Now that I ...

I REALLY NEED YOU ALL TO POST WORDS IN THE COMMENTS, even if it is just one word. I added some pictures of the quilting at the end of the post. I have two of these QOV’s to quilt today. For the non-quilters joining me today a QOV is a quilt of valor, donated to those wounded while serving our great nation.
I volunteer to quilt these for Amanda. I have an idea for quilting these with words. the words are what I need your help on. So comment away my friends. What comes to mind when you think ...

Last week Friday I blogged about a new quilt along that was starting. I went there today to see their first block. I have done that block, I am not a beginner, it is time to come up with my own design and challenge myself.
I have this bag of fabric that has been calling me.

The bag contains these fabrics

These were most of the fabrics I had planned to use in the quilt along. Well I am still going to use them for a quilt along. Just one that I am going to do on my other blog ...

I am sitting here ion the hotel this early morning. The coffee is good and the news is on. I am letting my BFF sleep in some more. I am off today to go the AQS quilt show here in Des Moines Iowa.
While the other ladies in our group did well to stimulate the quilting economy, only 2 items spoke to me yesterday. A chef/cooking fabric for a pillow case for DS#1 and 2 yards of a Heather Bailey print and that was in the sale section. Maybe I have N1Q1(no quilting inspiration), if so I ...

So this was was what I saw on my way to work one day last week.

So this was the first house on the block

and this one was at the next house.
The snowman from the first picture has since melted. Don’t fret, he can reappear today as we received another 3″ of snow yesterday. Even in 4 wheel drive that was quite the drive home. What is up with the weather, first we have fall tempts all summer long, the September rolls around and we get our summer temps. Now it is October and we get winter ...

So I am up a little after 6 am this morning, I start my coffee and head to the sewing machine. It is Monday after all, time to get a BOM post up on my blog. So, I press the small 1 1/2″ triangles that are pieced for the blocks. I move to the sewing machine and proceed to sew. This was the end result,

One block completed and,

one block derailed by one little bitty missing half square triangle. Some hunting was done for the fabric but luck was not on my side this morning. I know that ...

friendship bags from Adventures of the Bear Creek Quilter
So yesterday being opening Sunday of the football season and me left home with nothing fun to do, I decided to make my friendship bag for a swap I signed up for. Since I had cut 1 1/2″ strips I sewed them together first and the cut that into 5″ sections. I could have gotten 4 bags made from that strip set, but I was paying more attention to the game and cut one too small, OOPs. So by the time Farve led the Vikings, with the help of Adrian Peterson and the rest of the team, to a ...

Today, I won’t be so sneaky, I will actually give you the recipe. Baked apple pancakes are on the menu this morning. Here we go,
two tart apples

I peeled them this morning, but I have also left the peel on. Thinly slice them and saute them in 1/4 cup of butter.

now in a large bowl mix 3/4 cup of any “complete” pancake mix (the just add water kind) if you don’t have the complete kind, just substitute milk where I add water. Plus 1 tsp of sugar

add 3 eggs

and 1/2 cup ...

applepie7 from Adventures of the Bear Creek Quilter
So I had my camera with me on Saturday. So I am gonna tease you with the steps to a great apple pie.
Start with apples, 2 or more varieties make a better pie. I used Zestar and St. Edmunds Russett.

Next you need a pie crust. I used one I had made from scratch on Friday and froze for later use.

Once you have peeled and sliced the apple, you add sugar, spices a little flour. Then place them in the pie shell and dot with butter. The butter helps to thicken the juice created by the apples.

Put ...
