Note: This quilt is one of the very first things I ever long-armed. So, it is a little rough. :) It is just a large all over meander.

My mum asked me to make this quilt for our piano teacher. She is a brave woman who taught all five of us kids to play!

This is just the top. I am off again to visit family again tomorrow, but I will get it quilted and bound before Saturday. (It has to be done by Saturday at 3pm! No pressure!)

I love long-arm machine quilting...this is no secret. I spent ALL day yesterday cramming my head FULL of 30 new machine quilting border designs. Deloa Jones was an awesome teacher! We were so lucky to have her all to herself. Well, not exactly all to ourselves, but the ratio teacher to students was 1:8.
A key part of learning a new quilting design...doodling. Deloa would walk us through a design by drawing it and then would walk around while we drew it. She would tells us what we were doing wrong and help us improve it. Then ...

The lady's organization at church wants me to teach them to make a quilt. I guess they want the feel of an old time "quilting bee". (Which is just a good excuse to gather and chat.) The problem is that most, if not all, have no clue what they are doing.

I whipped up some samples.

9-patch without borders. I love how Batiks "dress-up" the humble 9-patch.

Borders on. Not yet quilted. With 2 kids under 2 (Bear is 2) I am slowing down a little. ;)

I love how the little hands (Bear and Ladybug's hands) turned out. Maybe I will make one for myself..."Mama" with little hands.

I finally got the quilting and binding done! This morning was so beautiful I just had to take the quilt outside! I love it!

My latest project...

I got the TRI RECS rulers for my b-day last month...and I love them! The rulers are so user-friendly and turn out great results effortlessly. It looks like I worked really on on this one doesn't it! I love it when the tools do all the work and I get all the credit!

I wasn't sure about the dark green points. I was afraid they wouldn't stand out enough. I think they look okay, but I wish I would have used either a brighter color for the star points or a darker shade of red.

I free admit that I am afraid of making bags. They always seem so complex and use language in the directions that I am unfamiliar. But I made this bag! It was so simple too! This is for my sister's b-day.

I have said before how I love a Scrappy Bargello...I finally got this one quilted! (I really wanted to quilt "fingerprints", but I didn't have the time, so I just quilted big huge swirls.)

I have started to take my scrap quilts seriously. I have let go. I put whatever beside whatever. And I love it! This quilt is called Orange Crush. It is so unexpected and so fun. It still needs (3) borders though.

I am glad the middle is together. I finally broke down and bought all the EZ Angle rulers and I am so glad I did. The cutting (my least favorite part) now goes super fast. But as things go, I was trying to cut with a baby screaming at me, and I cut and stitched a ...

We are always having a adventure. Last week Josh had Spring Break and we spent the week visiting my family. I was able to get some quality time with the long-arm. I quilted 7 quilts in 4 days! (More pictures of that work to come.)



As soon as we got home from Spring Break both Bear and Ladybug got sick..calumniating with our 6 week old little bug spending 4 days in the hospital!

As soon as January rolls around I start making my Christmas list. I do this for 2 reasons...1. I like to bargain hunt and 2. if I am going to make something I want to get my ideas together, so I have enough time. I always seems to run out of time! But not this year...last night I started two Christmas gifts!

This name wall-hanging is for my brother. This is only the top and the letter's aren't appliqued yet. Then quilting and binding! Yay! My youngest sister is also getting one...with her name, of ...

I joined the web-ring Stashbusters and I am super excited. We love living "green" and using what I have accumulated in new and different ways is exciting...and scary. So I am going to post my progress as the stash is eliminated. But, as a heads up, I am not going on the strictly "no buy" list...yet. There are still some quilts that need new fabric! :)

This might be harder than I think...I have this habit of saving tiny pieces and ripping out old quilts and using the fabric in other places. Strange, I know. But I do ...

I always hate throwing fabric away. I have tons of small or odd shaped pieces hanging out in my stash. As I have been going through my fabrics I throw these crazy pieces into a pile. (It is nice to have a whole room in which to spread out!) My goal is to cut them up into usable strips and squares...daunting.

The weather is nice enough to open my sewing room windows. The fresh air and sunlight are glorious!

I have wanted to do something like this for a long time and now that I am not sick and/or on bed rest I can!

I was wasting time the other day and I came across THIS site. When I first saw the Dear Jane quilt I thought it was madness. Who in there right mind would put themselves through that kind of torture!?! I told Josh that this was one quilt I would not be making.

Well...

All the late nights and early mornings up with the baby got me thinking. I want to make a Baby Jane! I can't stop thinking about the challenge.

I love antique quilts and reproduction fabrics. (I majored in History in college and my goal is to get my M.A. in Quilt Study...when my kids are babies...) So my stash has more than its fair share of "baked potato" fabrics. (A "baked potato" fabric is a term coined by a friend that describes "muddy" colors.)

But when I opened a box sent by my Nan it was full of candy...and this fat quarter pack! Which is better...the candy or the fabric? Both are yummy. Thanks Nan!
