The wonderful Sunday... from 13 Woodhouse Road
Warning : A picture heavy post ahead! Hey guys, thank you for your comments... Since I haven't been able to get back to my sewing machine yet (am still weak due to all those anti-biotics) I thought I'd show you the snaps of our sunday trip to Panhala - a hill station about 70 kms from here... It is the rainy season here... Yeah, in India we have 4 months of rains! But the picture here in Sangli -
Someone Else’s House from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara
I feel like I’m at someone else’s house. Every time I walk by my front windows, I have to turn around and look at all the clutter and then I realize, I am at home! Our road was really in bad shape. About a year and a half ago, one of the neighbors down the [...] -
Quilted Table Topper Puzzle from living, quilting and stuff
I managed to complete the base for the modular quilted table topper that I had started in 2007. I actually completed all the modules for this project at a London Friendship Quild workshop a few years ago. It was great fun, Kathleen Bissett has wonderful energy and is so playful. I had been wanting to make her Star Dance modular quilt table topper so I was happy to join the workshop for her square modular piece. Sometimes it is good to learn by following along with someone who already knows what they are doing.
For the best visual effect though ... -
I just couldn't resist..and a giveaway from Mid-Ohio Quilter
So I prepared a FQ stack of 1930's prints and cut a strip about 11" X 22" ( Fat eighth ) and folded it accordian style and away I went.50 some FQ's later I had quite a stack of 'waste'. However, I processed the 'waste' and and turned it into scrap strips that I may use on the back of the quilt. And a few other interesting pieces that I plan of making into a pillow or something. I have many ... -
No good deed goes unpunished........... from Exuberant Color
The title of this post refers to the 2 posts from yesterday.......I always thought that was a joke.
I finished the rows on this one and now I need to add borders to get it up to the correct size.
My oldest grandchild turned 23 yesterday. Unbelievable. -
Sneak Peek from Creations by Diana
This quilt was not forgotten, it was simply put aside... for over a year!!There are lots of little squares in this quilt. It's a quilt for my daughter. She's been after me to finish it. I've completed the quilting which was mostly zig-zag stitches to hold the fabric together.I'm in the process of binding the quilt and by chance I saw a tutorial by Pat Sloan on machine binding. I'm going to try this method for the first time. We'll see how it turns out! -

First Friday Freebie #13 from The Painted Quilt
It sure would be nice to be posting this month’s First Friday Freebie on a cool, crisp Autumn day but that’s not going to happen until tomorrow. For the last four days, we’ve been experiencing record breaking temperatures for this time of year in the mid to high 90’s and along with the oppressive humidity, it’s been brutal.
This month’s FFF is an Autumn-inspired mini quilt called Autumn Blessings. It combines both pieced and stitched blocks with some wool appliquéd elements. I had the best time not only creating it but ...

Festival of Quilts - Part 3 from TEXTILEARTAND...
Saturday was my last day at FoQ. Three days are enough for me, even with my crammed schedule and I was looking forward to flying home on Sunday. Alex from Aurifil asked me once if my stay at FoQ was considered as vacation or work. Good question … hmmm… It is vacation time because I am not at home (no vacuuming, no cooking, no food shopping, no caring for Flori cat, etc.). It is hard work too (so many meetings, lectures to attend attentively, networking etc.) – but so much fun!
First thing in the morning was a lecture with Sara Impey ... -

Pointe du Moulin from Sew Create It
One of the first visits we made was to Pointe du Moulin which is located at the tip of Ile Perrot. The mill dates back to 1705 and we were given a guided tour inside to hear how the flour was milled and the life of the miller and his family. -
IMG_1204_0281 from The Journal of Taylor's Outback
Do you have a Bucket List? I think everyone reaches a point in their life where they step back, assess where they have been and done and what they would like to do in the future. A while back I created my own little Bucket List (which can be a lot of fun to do, if you haven’t tried it!) Two of the listed items were #1 – return to Alaska and #2 – fly in a float plane and land on a remote lake. Since this is being written in Alaska, that takes care of #1. Today, #2 was realized ...

Friday Freebies: Patterns and Tutorials from South Bay Quilters Guild
Oh, there are so many sites to visit, patterns to see, videos to watch, and beautiful fabric to inspire. I'm hoping these will foster creative thoughts as you head into the holiday weekend.
Quilt Binding
Pat Sloan shares her technique for applying quilt binding by machine, and using a blanket stitch on the front. Her pictures and video are very clear. She makes it seem so easy!
Jennifer at That Girl ... That Quilt created a method of binding the edges of her Hexagon quilt. Lots of tutorial pictures to follow. And I really like the look of her table ... -
Emily's Pleiades Quilt from Ros-the-quilter
I am linking up with Finished for Friday and Lush Friday.
Emily's Pleiades quilt is ready for our trip to Boston in two weeks. Each of the stars in the group has it's name embroidered on it. The quilting is a freehand folk-art floral and the stars have line dancing and stippling around the name.Emily requested "pink and purple" and that she will have! The backing is pieced three different fabrics from stash. The large print I fell for and had to have and it has sat in my stash for some years. I think Emily will ... -
Free Motion Quilting: Basics from A Few Scraps
I personally never watch videos on blogs because the only time I am online is while watching TV or while on the bus. Nevertheless, it occurred to me that you might want to see a video of the basics of free motion quilting. So my handsome husband lovingly held my iPhone after the baby was abed, and I did a down and dirty video of all the things I'm about to talk about below. Bonus: this is also my 100th blog post. I think that's some sort of good omen. So, here you go! If you're like ... -
Thank you Red Pepper Quilts! from Cabbage Quilts
Ok, so on Wednesday I showed a sneak peak of the little quilt I have been making for the Down Under Doll Quilt Swap. Today I arrive home to find a box on my front doorstep. Yes, my partner turned out to be the very talented Rita from Red Pepper Quilts, Yay! Rita has made me a dazzling trip around the world doll quilt.
Isn't it magnificent? Rita is well known for her beautiful pieced backs, and with a back as gorgeous as this, I really have two doll quilts!
Gorgeous tag...

Look What I GOT! from Alderwood Quilts
The UPS man knocked at my door and I wasted no time digging into the box! It included my GO!, die, cutting mats, and lots of stuff I need to read! Today was a busy day so I didn't get a chance to try it out. Tomorrow is play day! -
Friday Pretties from Sewn With Grace
For Friday Pretties I'm celebrating the joy of a rainy day, courtesy of Google. Last night it rained for quite awhile and a cold front came through. The sound of the much needed rain was wonderful. The temperature is only going to reach 65 degrees today and I'll be loving every minute of it. Have a blessed day...

Back to work from AND SEW IT GOES
I have been focusing on other things (baby!) for a couple of months now, and taking a break from art making for the most part. My Twelve by Twelve pieces were an exception. But for the past couple of days I have been back in my studio and it is good to be back at it.
I am still working on rubbing plates for mark-making on fabric. Here is the one I made this week.
The thing that I have been thinking about these plates I am making is that you don't need to rub the entire design, so ...
