Officially An Old Broad! from caledonia quilter

First, here is the little Superbowl Sunday quilt, completely finished.

It's so pretty, thanks to the Moda Charm Square pack.
I did learn a valuable lesson, though.  Don't write out a quilt label while you are messaging with the Beach Girls about March appointments for haircuts.  You WILL put the wrong date on the label.

I figured it was close enough that I was not writing out another one.

BIRTHDAY!!!

In the middle of a pandemic, I managed to have my 65th birthday yesterday.  Yay me!!

As I have been saying for months, YES, I had Bailey's ...

The show MUST go on from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So I had a presentation last night at 7:00 PM. For some reason, I thought it started at 7:30 PM, but when I double checked, I was wrong. That knocked off a half-hour of last-minute prep time. Trying to sneak just one more sample into the presentation. I like to open my calls a half hour before the presentation to give people time to get settled and chat.

Well, my laptop did NOT want to log into Zoom. I rebooted TWICE, and nothing. I still had internet, and I could log in from my iPad, but not the ...

Making Progress on Projects from From My Carolina Home

I’ve noticed that my blogging is not as prolific as it once was, and I am posting fewer times in a week. So many other bloggers I read have just stopped posting altogether, so I am not spending as much time reading blogs, and I miss that. I miss catching up on what projects are being done, and new ideas to try. I’ve never been one to use my blog as a daily diary. I work on posts over days or weeks until I can show a project from start to finish. But the lack of social activities ...

A New Year from From My Carolina Home

Hello, 2021! We woke up to a cold, grey, drizzling and foggy day, and expect it to rain most of today. I checked the veranda this morning, and the money was still there, so I hope I brought in good fortune for this year. We can all use some good fortune! I have no idea where this tradition came from, but my mother did it, so I do too.  You hide some money outside on New Year’s Eve, then bring the money into the house on New Year’s Day.  It is supposed to bring good fortune with it ...

Having Some Fun Safely Social from From My Carolina Home

Finding ways to have some fun these days is more of a challenge. When you cannot have sew days with friends at home, or retreats in lovely Victorian homes over a weekend, then next best thing is a sew day at home with friends attending online. The wonderful thing is this would not be possible without the internet. Eight of us attended an all day sewing marathon last Saturday from all over the US and Canada! Three of us live in North Carolina, but we don’t live near enough to be in the same guild. Then we had four ...

Live EPP Class on Zoom! from Seaside Stitches

Have some fabric scraps, needle and thread? Join me for a Live EPP Ornament class next Wednesday! I'll be doing live demos, providing step-by-step instruction and answering your questions throughout the 2 hour class. Beginners are welcome, even if you didn't already know that EPP stands for English Paper Piecing.

You will need to print the templates onto a sheet of cover stock before class starts, so please plan accordingly. (I've heard that not everyone has a printer and a supply of card stock at home.)

You do not need to have your own Zoom account to ...

Lots of new and exciting things are in the works! I’m going through my To Do list and making some headway. Nude Men, Zoom & Live Streaming from Where Art & Life Meet

I know, I know, some of you may be thinking – She’s totally abandoning us here. We subscribe to her YouTube channel and now she’s on Patreon and everything’s exclusive and I can’t do any of that, and what’s going on? Have no fear. I am busy, busy, busy and will have a YouTube video… Continue reading Nude Men, Zoom & Live Streaming

Birthdays, Patreon, Youtube & Exploring New Things from Where Art & Life Meet

Remember when women were coy about their age? We weren’t supposed to say how old we were, so much so that people said, “don’t ever ask a women her age” and I think the ending to that was “or a man his salary” or something like that. Maybe some people still say that, but the… Continue reading Birthdays, Patreon, Youtube & Exploring New Things

Boost your business with video conferencing from Professional Quilter

We’ve been in our current sheltering mode for nearly two months. Regardless of when we exit this, our ways of doing business will be forever different.

One of the most significant changes will be around technology. More people will continue working from home. More people will continue using the Internet than ever before for learning.

If you haven’t quite yet embraced this, it’s time to jump on that bandwagon.

On our Members’ Studio coaching call this week, we focused on using zoom, one of the video conferencing platforms. As an early adopter of zoom, I’ve seen ...

TOO MUCH excitement from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Please forgive me but my brain is going a hundred miles a minute. I'm finding this self-isolation thing so stimulating. I know I'm probably the only one, but there's so much happening and so much to do and I've now got the time. I also have the time to dream up new things. This is BAD!!

I know that some people are struggling with the self-isolation thing and I know it's hard to be stuck in the house and can't go anywhere. I can only hope that has provided people with some time to ...
