twisted braid ufo from Making A Lather

I used a random number generator to pick a number from my ufo list for my 5 quilts focus. Twisted braid was the choice. My notes said that, I had cut everything in the quilt in 2018. My guess, I had a group of matching 2 1/2 strips and thought I might as well cut it into a pattern I wanted to try rather than put them away. haha. I took it with me to Friday sew. and started sewing. Something wasn't right. It called for a jelly roll, and I know I started with enough strips. But ...

What’s on My WIP List? from Goer

I am way overdue for updating this list. It was November 2021 the last time I posted it. There were 72 items on the list then. There are only a few new WIPs from 2022, bee blocks, a project that I didn't finish in time for the SAQA Benefit Auction, and a set of 4 mini compositions from a class last October that just need to be finished up. The good news is that the projects I've started in 2023 so far have both been finished.

The Numbers

  • 19 quilts from the list were finished in 2022.
  • 13 ...

dotty bow ties finish from Making A Lather

Dotty bow ties is done. My first finish for the year is the first quiltville leader/ ender challenge from 2011 - 2012. This year, when the new leader/ender was announced, I decided, rather than start a new project/quilt, I would go back, and actually finish the ones I have already started. I have started each new challenge over the years, but have finished two.

72 x 72

12 yards of fabric

I used as leftover dotty fabric for the binding

I used 2 larger pieces of pink for the back. I free motioned circles on the longarm.

If I ...

dotty bow ties almost top from Making A Lather

I only have 2 more rows of dotty bow ties to add to the quilt. I am almost there. hooray

It is time to prepare for next year's phd progress projects. I had to chuckle when quilting Gail said if you have at least 12 UFOs, make a list. It guarantees my participation for many more years. How many? I fear, longer than I will live at this point. Is any one honest about the number of UFOs? I tell my friends one number, and my lists say another, and then, there is the husband number.... oh well, just ...

dotty progress from Making A Lather

I did a little Christmas sewing, and, I have three rows together of dotty bow ties. I have a few more sashings made for adding more rows.

It was a cold, quiet holiday. I had most of the food bought early, so that was not a problem. We spent the- too cold to do anything (-10) - time watching Christmas movies. It was fun. We didn't get to see our family. bummer. It was too dangerous for this old couple to be out and about. We are now at a balmy16 degrees with a slight dusting of snow and a ...

bow ties progress from Making A Lather

Dotty bow ties has been sewn into foursies. There are 8 in each row, so I am getting closer. I plan on adding sashings between rows.

My quilter friend Linda made this great  scrap quilt during our Friday sew. It uses 2 1/2 inch squares. She says it is a pattern in the scrap school quilt book. If there really was such a quilt as a scrap buster, this would be a good candidate.

Hope everyone is busy with Christmas plans and happy times.

boho top from Making A Lather

I have made great progress on boho heart. Another day at the library, and, I was able to assemble the right section of the heart. I have had the left section together for some time.

I was inspired to bring the left section with me, even if, I wasn't sure how much I could get done at open sew.

Now my heart is complete, warts and all. What a relief to get to this point. There were 5 of us working on this at the same time. I am the last one to get it to this point. I ...

Impromptu Design Wall from Quilts + Color

I like to put my works in progress in a spot that is visible to me when I am doing other things.

As I look at and study them I come up with the ideas I use to quilt them. Often the ideas change the more I see them.

This is working well for me.

Taking Stock - 2018-2022 from Quilt Matters

Tap...tap...tap. Is this thing on? Oh good.

There's something about a new year that helps one take stock of where things are at and where they may go in the year ahead. It's been a long time since I've done a WIP list post (well, any post really) and I'm feeling the need for a recap of where I'm at with WIPs/UFOs/PIGs and any other acronyms for projects in the works.

I've started a lot of projects over the last couple of years, but haven't finished many. I have ...

5 quilts Deccember 27, 2021 from Making A Lather

 My 5 quilts progress report.

1. boho heart - I am working on group 2 first section in pink, but, at this point, I am dropping this project off the list to add it to my rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy list, since, I want to work on it in rainbow color of the month.

2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I made a multi colored word rsc and abbreviation for rainbow scrap challenge. I sure didn't want to make the whole words - eek

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter - I ...
