Is a website still relevant for Creatives? from JustPlainLaine

I had forgotten how much work a website is.  I have test patterns to make, swaps to complete, and a whole lot of dyeing and video making to do.

But….here I sit working on my website.  At least I can sort of do it when the migraine wanes…. I don’t dare put needle to cloth until it is over.

Back in the fall when I decided NOT to have a website anymore (read previous blog for the sad details), I could not really come up with a good reason to put in all of the work.

Fast forward ...

Recovery – and the story of my Website from JustPlainLaine

Back in the fall of 2022, I woke up one morning to a website that was no longer there.  It was completely and utterly gone.

I didn’t panic at first, because there is always a backup.  Right?  Always a backup.  Except when there isn’t.

I reachout out to my provider and was informed that my “basic” package did not include automatic backups and how lucky I was that it took 12 years to crash and burn.  Somehow I didn’t feel so lucky.

My blog was more like a memory keeper for me, so I wasn’t really ...

Coming to you from My NEW Website! from Where Art & Life Meet

Yup, you read that correctly. This post is being written within my brand, spanking, new, website. So let’s take a little look around, shall we?! (A quick note: my website is experiencing a few growing pains, so pages may load slower than you’re used to due to high volume, but we’re working on it.) First […]

Finally, My Exciting News!! from Where Art & Life Meet

The last two days have been a blur. As in, I walk into my studio and can’t remember what I was about to do or grab the keys to the front door, walk purposefully out to the elevator and suddenly cannot remember where I’m going or what I’m doing there. This is disconcerting to say… Continue reading Finally, My Exciting News!!

New YouTube Videos, & Other News from Where Art & Life Meet

I have a couple pieces I’m working on simultaneously at the moment. One is a piece I began for my Improvisational Stitching Workshop. We are having SO much fun! As I was working on it, I decided to do a video on one way I like to create organic looking shapes. That video is premiering… Continue reading New YouTube Videos, & Other News

A Fun Quilt Survey from From Edge 2 Edge

When I first started to quilt there were no art quilts on my radar. The closest I came was Amish quilts with their deep saturated colors and strong graphic designs. Everything I saw or was previously exposed to was traditional patterns and fabrics.

Then Michael James and others came into view and I was entranced. These were not quilts as I knew them and I couldn't get enough of them. When I started attending larger quilt shows and taking classes from some of these quilters I admired, it opened up a whole new view of the quilt world. I ...

Work, Work, Work from From Edge 2 Edge

I spent yesterday and today updating both of David's and my gallery area. That means I took pictures of our most recent quilts, put them into Photoshop to crop and clean the background out and do the write-ups.

I got to measure them, do all the calculations for pricing, and put all the information into Artwork Tracker. That was the easy part. Once I had all the work done it was just cut and paste the text, link the photos, and fill out the form. Most of the options are already in drop down boxes since I tend to ...

Artwork Tracker - Awesome Program from From Edge 2 Edge

Ever wonder how to manage your artwork and keep a listing of:
  • what you have made?
  • what you have sold?
  • what galleries or shows you have submitted work to?
  • etc.

At one time I was considering writing my own crude program to track my art quilts and the shows or galleries where I was sending them. I had mapped out the information that I wanted to include and how I was going to link everything in the database program. Then I started thinking about the hours and weeks it would probably take to get it written. I am so glad ...

Jackie White Quilts from Jackie's Art Quilts

After much deliberation, I finally created my very own website called Jackie White Quilts!

Here I have galleries of my quilts, my patterns for sale and of course Meet Maud! Please go and take a look around,  I would love to hear what you think.

I had a logo designed that emulates Maud, the very first wall hanging I did of her. It is perfect, as it is Maud, pink and has polka dots!

My goal is to start teaching again and selling my patterns. I will continue to check in here as well.

A tip for you today.

Changes... coming soon... from 13 Woodhouse Road

I have been working like crazy for the past few days! This month has been super busy! But I am seeing my months ahead get busier! And good kind of busier!

There will be a few changes here at 13 Woodhouse Road!

First, there will be a whole new site! Yay!
I finally succumbed and am building a store + website on Shopify
I'm super excited to put it all together. Last year, I designed my other website - www.shrutidandekar.com. Now I am combining both of these and putting them together on Shopify. If you click on any of ...
