Hands off from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I decided that I would walk to the grocery store that has a big pharmacy so I could stock up on some glucosamine. I should have started taking it long ago, but I didn't. So let's start now and move on. This was my first time in a grocery store since the pandemic was announced. There are normally two entrances to the store and one is closed off. For the open one, there's an entrance door with someone monitoring the people going in and there's an exit.

I wonder how closely they are monitoring stuff? Lots ...

Let's go shopping from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

You're probably like me - I've no idea what day of the week it is. I have to remind myself every morning. This is Thursday. This is Friday. It is Friday today? Isn't it? Where are those days of the week underwear when you need them? I could embroider some! I'm sure like the rest of you, we're not getting our hair cut like normal. Well, I'm a slacker on that anyway so I can just put it in a ponytail if I need to.

Murphy is in bad need of a hair cut so ...

Living in my own little world from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I know this is a totally scary time for everyone. Life is upside down compared to what we knew it. This is also a time for everyone to realize how important they are to the functioning of our world. Obviously, neither of us is that important since our lives haven't really changed a whole lot.

Yes - we did go out for meetings or to teach classes but we seem to be managing just fine using technology to keep up to date with things. Yes - I went to the gym, but I'm walking outdoors more which isn't a ...

MORE SEWING FROM HOME from ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

This is what happens when we stay at home.  Chris at the Attic Window Quilt Shop sent pictures and wrote this:

"This is something I found in one of my cabinets that my granddaughter Tatium brought me years ago!  Remember the build a bear store? I had to finish it, stuff it and place the heart, which was supposed to go inside the bear but I sewed it on the outside.

Here he is with his heart on the outside where you can see it.
I love this saying on his back:  Pawsome! And look at his cute little tail ...

It all went downhill from the weekend from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

As you know, I had a GREAT weekend at the virtual retreat. While I did have a wee bit of ripping to do as I finished the Easy Street quilt, it was a pretty good weekend with minimal issues.

Yesterday was a totally different scenario. I don't think I've ripped so much in my life! I was working on the homework for one of my ongoing classes. The block was SIMPLE - you'll see tomorrow. I got the block together and it was too small. Seriously??? I couldn't sew a ¼" seam if my life depended on ...

I'm packed and ready to go!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another exciting and entertaining day at my house! HEY -- any day can be exciting and entertaining. Did you know that WE alone have the control as to how each day turns out? It's all in how you look at it. You can see doom and gloom or you can look at these days as days of leisure. Haven't we all dreamed of days where we had nothing to do and no responsibilities? Well - that's kind of what this feels like.

I do have commitments even though I can't go anywhere and I'm working on those ...

YOU CAN HELP from ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

Meeko, my sewing companion
Julie, who leads the Doll Bee at the Attic Window Quilt Shop, sent me a note recently.  I posted the above picture of her cat to get your attention because what she said is helpful during these difficult times.  This is what she wrote:

Hi Carol,  I wrote to Chris a bit ago about some ideas for her Facebook page and she suggested they would be good for the blog too....

I’m sure you have heard that Spectrum Health is accepting donations of homemade PPE masks.  I had emailed this info to Chris as I think people would want ...

Everyone needs a dog from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Every morning, I have a few websites that I check. One is my progress on the Virtual Challenges to make sure that my steps got uploaded overnight. And now I can say "Toto - we're not in Kansas anymore!". I'm now in Oklahoma on Route 66. It's pretty exciting - a total of 629 MILES since the beginning of the year. Is anyone else signed up for any of them?? Some are short - like 26.2 miles. But no - we have to pick the longest one! And you know what? I'm OK with that.

I have to admit ...

Bill Gates is my hero!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I solved my computer mouse problem by putting a book under the mouse. For some reason, it no longer wants to run on my desktop. No worries - I'm good with that. An easy and inexpensive fix! I would hope that in our current environment that we're all going to be finding ways to fix things rather than buy a new product.

I can't say that I'm surprised, but I'm a bit taken aback at how the BUY NOW e-mails keep coming through every day. Store owners - I know you're hurting. We're all hurting ...

Shamefaced from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I"m having a first world problem this morning. My mouse is not cooperating as well as I would like! Thankfully I have a touch screen on the computer so that makes life a little bit easier. I've tested the battery and it seems to be fine. It's just not happy - works sometimes and then it doesn't. Oh well......

Wasn't that a fabulous show and tell from our Virtual UFO meeting? Seriously - if you have a group that meets regularly - consider setting up a Whatsapp group. It's a free app for your smartphone. A very ...

It's all about the binding from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I lied. I said that things were pretty much normal at our house. For me and the girls, not much has changed, BUT for DH, there are no sports programs on TV. There's nothing for him to watch. He's not into the highlights or whatever they are showing these days. He's getting a lot of reading done.

But for me, as I said, not much has changed. I walk the girls, I sew, and I read. That's about what I did before, but at least there would be a group meeting or sewing days or something ...

Ten things to pass the time in self-isolation from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's truly a crazy world these days. I try not to dwell on it as there is NOTHING that I can do to change the situation.

There is plenty that I can do to cope with the situation but I can't change what's happening. There's nothing to be gained by worrying. That just expends energy that I can put to use somewhere else. Don't get me wrong - I'm concerned and it's in the back of my mind, but why worry about the future? We're all in this together.

The biggest thing that ...

What happened in the office? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW -- I'm almost speechless at what is happening in the world. Yesterday, it seemed that every minute there was a new development - a closure, a cancellation, reduced hours, services shut down. It was getting to the point that I was afraid to check e-mail. However, it's all for a good cause - we need to get a handle on flattening the curve and many companies have stepped up to the plate to make that happen. Individuals have done the same. My gym is closed! ACK!!!!  But walking outdoors is still an option and even though the weather is yucky ...

The whole world's gone mad!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I thought about not posting a blog this morning but then I had a panic attack. What would you read during breakfast? People would be so disappointed, so I actually wrote the blog last night so you would have something to read!

Why can't I write the blog in the morning? Because if everything goes right, I'll be on a plane at a RIDICULOUS hour of the morning, but I'm OK with that. It means I get home at a decent time and well - I can just sleep the flight away.

I checked in this morning and ...

When life gives you lemons from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I think this quote is very appropriate for today.

Quote of the day

The world is in quite a turmoil and that's probably putting it mildly. I get all the safety precautions and travel plans and everything else that's gone totally haywire. I just don't get the toilet paper thing. What's up with that? This is NOT a stomach virus. Sigh..............   Just goes to show how a small detail from the media can get blown out of proportion and then we all become lemmings and have to do what everyone else is doing. Hopefully, that means ...
