over the river finish from Making A Lather

I have a finish this week. This is an older UFO with a story or two.
When my daughter was expecting her second baby, we knew she would be induced. She had PUPPS and was miserable. We were excited to have a date, and, I booked the flight and planned on spending 2 weeks with her. I knew I would need a sewing project, and, I had this pattern on my really "to do" list. I planned the panels, cut, and prepped, and marked them.
As it happens, for the first time in years, we had an epic blizzard, and ...

square dance finish from Making A Lather

I have a finish
From my Carolina home hosted a mystery quilt in 2018. It was the first time, I had tried one of her mysteries. I enjoyed it, and I like the result. It was easy to keep up with the clues, and, I had a quilt top shortly after the reveal, but, it has languished in the "to be quilted" pile until now. This one is called square dance. I chose to do the queen size. It finished at about 82 x 90 and used a lot of scraps.

For the back, I used a strip from a ...

to do : the other half from Making A Lather

Jamestown landing looks like a big mess up close. But, the camera makes it look better and like it is supposed to look.
I have had a few not nice things to say while working on this. It is a really good idea to keep current with a project and not put it away for a few years.  I have wondered what I was thinking many times.
The grass was wet, so, I haven't really checked to make sure everything is going in the right direction.

Last week, I realized I needed two more blocks for the charming stars ...

Jamestown landing rows from Making A Lather

I have made progress on Jamestown landing - a Bonnie Hunter pattern. I am sewing this top together as part of my one monthly goal and PHD2020.  I took a class in Bloomington with Bonnie Hunter in March 2013. And, it has been in the block stage since then. I worked on it after I got home, and then it stalled.
I do not like string piecing. I prefer crumb piecing, so, I made the decision to switch the string blocks with my crumb blocks. I am not sure if I will be sorry, yet. I really like revisiting some of ...

I thought I was done making the blocks for charming stars, but, I miscounted. So, I need to make 2 more. They are quick and easy, so, no worries. I just wish I could count...lol

pink progress from Making A Lather

Happy fourth of July. May God bless America.

Last Saturday, we lost power during a short thunderstorm. When we lose power, we also lose water and flush toilets. I didn't get a chance to post the last of my pink projects for the rainbow scrap challenge. And, I didn't get a chance to visit other blogs for my weekly inspiration. I really missed that.
I make the wonky stars from 2 inch scraps and leftover triangle pieces.

I make the tiny houses from 2 inch scraps.

My final count for the pink dresdens is 12. That is a ...

new goals for July from Making A Lather

July is here with a whole new month of possiblities.
For my one monthly goal, in July, I want to quilt my snow days quilt and square dance mystery quilt from my carolina home. This was a 2018 mystery quilt.

I want to join my alpha letters into a quote and a top.

And, I want to organize and make a top with my Jamestown landing blocks. I started Jamestown landing in 2013. This project is in blocks. This quilt is a combination of HSTS and string blocks found in string fling book by Bonnie Hunter.

This will also be ...

Ufo progress from Making A Lather

I have finished 2 ufos so far for June and I have finished 10 for the year. The goal for ufos and the phd 2020 was 12. However, not all the ufos I have finished, were on my original list. I'm not sure how that counts. But, it has motivated me for sure. Countryside cottage is here. And silent night is here.

I've made progress on a few other projects from the list. Frolic mystery and unicorn quilt are ready to be quilted.

I am moving the rainbow projects started this year along - shine and row x row ...

June goals from Making A Lather

I like the beginning of a month, and a chance to set goals and see them finish.... or just progress. I am not overwhelmed with a month. It is a good time period for me to focus and then, let go if I need to move on to something else.

It's time to finish my double wedding ring. It looks sad here. It has been neglected. I think I have 3 sections to join together and then, the top is done.

I want to quilt a joann block of  the month called countryside cottage. The top and back are ...

sparkle punch finish from Making A Lather

Today the president of our church has asked us to fast and pray for relief from covid-19, for protection for those on the front lines, and for our economy to be strengthened. I know this can make a huge difference for all of us.

I started  making this quilt in 2014 when I saw a  picture in a magazine.

I had the top done within the year, but, it has languished in the quilting pile.

Today it is finished.

This is part of April's one monthly goal and PHD

A new goal from Making A Lather

It's time for choosing my goals for the month of April and the one monthly goal at elm street quilts. I had it assembled here in January.
I did not work on my basket quilt last two months. I want to add the borders and get it quilted. I am not sure how to quilt this yet.

I have this quilt - Sparkle punch that has been in the "to be quilted" pile for a few years. I think it is time to move it to the finished pile. The top is done, but, I need the back, and binding ...

2020 quilt goals from Making A Lather

I have been thinking and thinking about next year's goals. I have spent at least two years working on ufos and I have finished more than I thought I could. But, I am wishing to do something new. I've noticed I went crazy with new, so we will see. I was trying for a top 10 for the year, and next thing I knew, I had 20. I am going to leave it that way, and see how I do. It is 2020 after all.

1. editya sitar baskets - new -I bought this in Utah after my daughter ...
