I mostly don’t remember my dreams, and when I do, they are pretty vague. Occasionally, I have a really vivid dream, and last night I dreamed I had finished piecing my Two-Step quilt. I cut the borders a few days ago, and laid it all on my office chair last night so I would remember to work on it today, and I guess it was on my mind when I went to bed. I was pretty surprised, and a little confused, when I walked into the breakfast area this morning and saw this:
Yep, all folded up and just ... read moreOh my, it’s cold. This is the third day of temps in the 30’s. I know it gets colder other places, but I live in South Texas, for heaven’s sake. I’m on the couch right now, and the dogs are all over me. Im pretty sure they’re cold too—and they have fur coats!
The APQS UFO number for February was drawn over the weekend.
My number 6 for piecing is Wistful. I didn’t finish it last year because I didn’t have all the pieces. I still haven’t found them, so I ... read moreThe January Number is 3.
I have a list for quilting and a list for piecing. I actually started a third list for kits I haven’t started, but I’m not sure if I want to go there or not. Most of the kits can’t be finished in a month, so I would just be creating another UFO, but they are essentially UFO’s now, so I can’t decide what is the best strategy.Anyway, my number 3 for quilting is the Keyhole quilt.
It’s a good candidate for finishing since I have a backing fabric ... read moreI finished my December UFO before the year ended…..the Scrappy Trips I started on the 29th.
I like it a lot. I had intentions of donating it or gifting it. Hmmm, maybe I will keep it a little while and rethink that idea. I have made several, and some I have liked, and others not so much. I think I am partial to all the red in this one. I used red for the back, and the same for the binding.I was able to use one of my 2022 labels, so that was good. These are printed on ... read more
I was reviewing my 2022 UFO list yesterday and noticed I hadn't done anything with the December entry.
Another Scrappy Trips quilt......I have made several because they are great for using up oddball 2-1/2" strips.
The good thing is that I am in between projects for the next few days; the bad thing is that I don't have a back made for it. I pulled out a bolt of dark red....it's 45" width, so I had to piece it to get a back that is big enough. I little while later, I had it ... read more
I finally got this top done.
I took more time with this than I should have…..I was trying to get a border that I was satisfied with, and of course, I wanted it big enough to increase the size. This was a deviation from the original pattern, but you know the saying, “Finished is better than perfect.” And, at this point, I knew I just wanted to get the borders on and move one. It has been moved to the “ready to be quilted” stack, and will most likely go on my 2023 UFO list.
I have a purple ...

I took some time to review my 2022 goal progress and decided to go ahead and do something with the keyhole quilt. This is where I was:
I've done well this year getting things checked off my 2022 "To Do" List but not so great at finishing things on the "UFO" List. I have three donation quilts along with the backings and bindings made and ready to be finished. One is from last year, so it needs to be done first. I found the cutest little safari animals online last year, traced them onto unbleached muslin, and embroidered them, but that's as far as I got. That's what happens when I just have to have some handwork to keep busy. Things end up on ...

My number 5 for quilting is Prairie Flowers.
It’s another one that I don’t have a backing for. I also don’t know what I did with the orange fabric I had for the binding, but I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. As for the backing, I think I will go to the quilt shop and treat myself to a nice piece of 108” fabric.
My number 5 for piecing is the ...

The binding matches the back—I wasn’t able to match the solid teal on the border. I’ve had it several years and can’t remember where I originally bought it. This was my June UFO, so it was about time I got it done.
My August quilting goals was Totally Tulips.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the backing fabric I bought for it, and since it matches the border, I didn't want to use something else. I decided to just sub in another quilt that I knew I had backing for, and here is the finish:This is the Shout It Out pattern, and it made a pretty big quilt considering it only took a layer cake plus some additional yardage. I think it was 63" X 85".
I'm also got my Sampler Store items finished for the upcoming ...
read moreI’ve had my eye on one of these “sewing chairs” for a while, and I’ve finally ordered and collected mine. For as long as I’ve been sewing at the sewing machine I’ve used a dining chair. Over the years things have slowly got more difficult, especially over the last year or so with my back problems. So I thought it would be sensible to get a dedicated, adjustable sewing chair. I’m still experimenting with the best height for me, and I’m pleased that I can move the chair, on castors, right up close to ...

August is here, and August is always such a busy month. American Patchwork and Quilting has chosen number six for this month’s goal.
I am working from two lists—projects that need to be quilted and projects I started piecing and haven’t finished. They range from almost finished to not completely cut out. Number six for quilting is Totally Tulips. I have a back for it and may even have binding strips cut, so it is doable.
Lots of activity going on here—some of it productive; some not so productive. Hubby is back from Arizona, and the dogs are ecstatic. I’m pretty happy too, but more time is spent on cooking and cleaning up. I also spend the evenings after supper in the family room with him instead of retreating to the sewing room.
Don’t ask me what happened to June. I stayed busy all month, and still didn’t accomplish everything I wanted to get done. Well, it’s July and time for a new UFO number.
It’s a new month—I’m not sure what happened to May, but June is here.
I know I was working on this one sometime in the fall.
The last post I can find on it is here. I didn't finish it, but was waiting to get all my stash unpacked to see if I had something that work for the borders. I still feel like I should have something that would work, but I couldn't locate enough of any one thing. The top without borders is 81' x 81", so I would need around a yard and a half do a reasonable size border.
I found a red and gold batik at the ...
