UFO Club from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

While I was in the process of loading pictures for the quilt classes, I decided that I'd do the show and tell for our UFO club as well. Here's what I love about Zoom classes - the photos have to be edited for the presentation, so they are also ready for the blog.

The UFO Club has been a HUGE motivator for me. I've gotten so many long-forgotten projects done in the last two years, and I'm thrilled. I've dug out a fair number of projects from the depths of Studio B, and there's a ...

UFO Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH - I found the pictures that I wanted to share with you, but I'll do that tomorrow. And I sure hope that you popped over to the Try-A-Triad Challenge page and voted for your favorite quilt. Remember, mine is on the bottom row on the left!

And did you go to Riel's web page? If you haven't, check it out. She's a quilter, and she published two quilt books. I haven't had a chance to read The Little Ghost, who was a Quilt yet.

Today, it's all about the Show and Tell from our ...

UFO Club from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I don't know if I should say anything or if I should just pretend it was all a bad dream?

The new modem arrived sometime after lunch. There was no knock on the door so I wasn't sure when it arrived.

The new modem

I had a presentation at 3:00 PM - it was now 1:30 PM. Do I even dare to tempt fate???

I figured - there's no time like the present so I unwrapped the box and swapped out the old for the new. I  had passwords and such, but nothing happened. So I called ...

UFO Show and Tell Part Two from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Sigh..............

Have you ever had one of those days when NOTHING seemed to go right? Yesterday was one of those days. I rarely feel like throwing in the towel, but I was tempted on numerous occasions. However, I maintained a level head and kept working methodically through the fiascos trying to make sense of the crazy day.

The modem that was to arrive between 9 and 9:30 still wasn't here by 4 PM. A call indicated that it would likely be delivered today. Fortunately, DH's Zoom call didn't go down, although it slowed. I didn't ...

UFO Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Here's a quick update on the internet situation at my house. It's NOT good. I've called I don't know how many times this past week to complain. Finally, yesterday we got escalated. Why? Was it because I threatened to move my service to another provider? Not that that would have been a guaranteed solution - I could get just as bad of service from the other provider as well.

I was very polite but very clear on my position.

Here's something to contemplate. If you're wary of how much information is out there on the ...

UFO Show n Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I thought I'd share the UFO show and tell with you today.

Last year, I started a UFO club. Each person paid a fee to join the club and then put some money in the kitty that they would get back once they finished their assignment for the month. Each person gets to choose how much or how little they do, depending on their schedule for that month. I think that at least half of the group members work full time - some at home and some at their actual place of work.  It's a small amount - $10 per ...

UFO Club - Part Three from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Isn't it exciting to see all this UFO work? I'm thrilled with how the club has gone and how motivated we all are. It's a small step towards getting the mounds of unfinished projects cleared up. Many of the projects have been languishing for years because of any number of reasons. The encouragement of the other group members and realizing they are in the same boat is making it much easier to get to work completing our own projects.

If you have a before/after of a completed UFO that you want to share - send it to ...

UFO Club Part Two from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

That was all pretty exciting stuff in yesterday's post. And I've got even more great projects in progress to share with you today. I just love how everyone has stepped up to the plate with a bit of peer pressure and that mighty sum of $10 per month!

Let's start with Sharon. This is truly a UFO since it was started around 2000. It's hand applique, and it's a totally crazy amount of work. It's the Piecemaker's Calendar from 2000.

Her goal for this past month was to get the background completed for ...

UFO Club from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

UFOs. These are not unidentified objects in the sky. Nope - these are UNFINISHED sewing projects in our sewing spaces. You know - the quilts that we were so excited about starting, only to abandon them when we ran into a problem, ran out of time, or the reason for making the project didn't exist any longer. Yep - there are loads of reasons why stuff becomes a UFO.

Many times, that project gets shelved with little or no instructions on what happened or where you were. When you open the project box, it looks like a huge jumbled mess and where ...

UFO day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's almost time for our next UFO meeting, and I didn't share with you what we all accomplished this past month.

We have all been busy as beavers, and NO money went into the kitty. This group is pretty serious about those commitments. I need to get myself in gear to get my homework done as we meet on Sunday, and I don't need another entire day of sewing blocks to meet a deadline, although I will if I have to.

First up are Susan's blocks for the Farm Girl Vintage. These are all 12" blocks ...

It's a good news day!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Wow -- this month (like all the others) is marching on and waiting for no one. If we don't take advantage of today, well - it won't be there tomorrow! I try to take advantage of every minute, but don't worry - I do get some downtime in there. I actually picked up a REAL book yesterday. I had let three audiobooks expire without reading them. I just couldn't bear the thought of reading. And I certainly had not picked up a physical book to read in weeks.

Why? I bet it's because of all the time I ...

UFO group update - part 2 from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I am truly blessed. There was never any sleeping in at my house when I was a kid. I lived on a farm and we had to get up. There were no questions, no whining, you just got up when it was time to get up. And there was no time to sit around and drink coffee and read the paper - you got up and you got to work. Thankfully, that discipline has stuck with me. I can get up in the morning and I'm off to work (sewing) within a few minutes. I get some of my best ...

UFO updates from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There's so much going on that it's hard to keep track of everything and to keep the blog updated! I know that I'm a bit odd and I don't want to say that I'm thriving on the self-isolation (I am), but it has shown me (and hopefully others) different ways of working. Instead of driving far away to have a meeting - I can have that meeting online and save me a lot of time. I'll be pushing for online meetings for the future!

I've worked hard to get where I can finally wrap ...

Our Virtual UFO Meeting from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The situation isn't getting any better in our world. However, here's something that we need to be extremely thankful for. We have the internet, we have smart devices, we have EASY ways to stay in touch. We should NEVER take that for granted. Data limits have been waived. Imagine if we had to self-isolate and really, truly be "isolated".

Trust me, I'm not happy about it, but there's no sense worrying about any of it. It just means that I may, at last, have a chance to catch up (HA - HA - HA  - even I chuckle at ...

Do as I say................. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yes - I should be following my own words. I keep saying, I'm going to clean up the office and get everything organized and yet I continue to procrastinate. I'm a maker and I want to be making stuff all the time. Yet - I want this mess cleaned up as well so it's less frustrating. So I need to take the bull by the horns and just do it or stop complaining!!! Thanks, Elle for the pep talk! I don't have time this weekend - well, I have a free day tomorrow - perhaps I could spend ONE hour ...

UFO Show and Tell Part Two from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Wasn't that exciting to see all those UFOs from our meeting this past weekend? Well, I've got more today as I didn't have all the pictures assembled yesterday. Here's what else we're working on.

I got such a chuckle from this picture that I had to share it with you. This is Katheleen's UFO cupboard. It looks like an IKEA cabinet. Don't you love how all those scrapbook cases fit so neatly onto the shelves? They all appear to be labeled. That's a lot of UFOs. I think she'll be participating ...

UFO Day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Our UFO club is pretty simple. You signed up and paid some money. Each month you attend the meeting (or participate via e-mail) if you're too far away. You pick a UFO and you make a commitment (which I diligently record in my new book) and you better have the homework done for the following month.

We got off to a rocky start in January because of the weather. But we had great attendance this past month and NO money so far has gone to the kitty. Yikes - we might be having water and crackers for our lunch in ...

I'm so excited!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was the MOST AMAZING day yesterday. It was our UFO meeting and the weather cooperated so almost everyone was here. We have a super dedicated group of people and they are getting work DONE. That's what it's all about and at the end of the year, if they've all been good, they get their money back. Nothing like some incentive to get you motivated. I'll share all the pictures tomorrow when I have a wee bit more time.

Hey - I'm motivated as well!! Big time and I want to try and keep that momentum ...

UFO club from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Life is a journey, not a destination. On that journey, I'd like to get some projects finished! And that's how the UFO club got created. I have so many projects that need to be finished and I have friends that have many projects that need to be finished! We met once a month during this past year and accomplished loads. I think most people finished at least 2 or three or MORE projects that had been sitting there untouched.

We had our final meeting a couple of weeks ago and this is what got accomplished for that meeting ...
