Friday This and That from Humble Quilts

Remember this quilt? I asked Barbara Brackman about it and this was her response:

I noticed that quilt on your blog. Interesting because of the red behind the lilies. Dating hard as so little to go on. All the fabrics not very good clues. But you wouldn't see a red & green style quilt like this in the 1830s so now we are up to 1840...
The earliest examples I have in the pattern are in the early 1840s.

Mid Week Musings... from Humble Quilts

Dale made the cheddar cheese and crackers little quilt and here it is ready for quilting! Isn't is adorable? The directions are on my blog HERE.  Thanks for sharing with me Dale!!
I got the most interesting email after posting this toile. See the horseshoe on the chimney? I didn't either, but a keen blog reader did! From Wendy Coffin, who I assume is related to the original owner:

Aurora Colony Museum and More... from Humble Quilts

Along with the Aurora Colony Quilt Show, quilters donate to fund the Historical Museum. I am usually not at the show opening weekend, and I think that is why I found some amazing deals!!

Oldies but goodies reproduction pinks. (these for $2!)

Lovely red and black repros! ($3!)

Here is a lovely purple toile piece I picked up too. I asked about it on the facebook group and it was reproduced by Sharon Yentor of In The Beginning Fabrics. Isn't it lovely?! I rarely find good deals, so I will tell you I paid $1.50 for it!!

Friday Friendships from Humble Quilts

Here are some amazing signature blocks that Suzette shared with me. Oh those fabrics!!

The cross stitch was so tiny I have no idea how it was accomplished!!

 Oh these crazy wonderful prints!!
And speaking of friendships, if you will be in Houston at the quilt show, a  few of us are meeting at 11:30 at the food court on Friday November 1st. . If you are the first one there- save a table! I know Janet O from Canada, Cecile from France, Connie, Kevin and me will be there. (maybe Patty H)  Bring a lunch or purchase a lunch ...
