To Do List for the Week of 07/30/2024 from Life In Pieces

Summer is well and truly back. We've had heat advisories pretty much every day since late last week.  It is almost August. The first two weeks of that month are typically our hottest.  Which isn't fun to contemplate considering how hot early July was.

Since there wasn't much to do but hide in my sewing room, there was lots of stitching time last week, which made pretty quick work of last week's to do list.

To Do list for 7/23/2024

To Do List for the Week of 07/16/2024 from Life In Pieces

To Do List for the Week of 07/09/2024 from Life In Pieces

It's been a whirl wind couple of days.  We went to Texas to visit Grad Girl for the 4th of July weekend.  We had planned to stay till Monday to avoid the homeward bound traffic from 4th of July.  Those plans changed when they issued tropical storm warnings for Brazos county due to Beryl. We had a serious rethink and left late Sunday afternoon to drive to Dallas.  It's pretty flat in that part of the state and it doesn't take much for parts of the roads to flash flood, so it just seemed wise to avoid ...

To Do List for the Week of 06/25/2024 from Life In Pieces

I didn't post a to do list for last week since I was at the conference for the week and then knew I'd be at Grad Girl's cat sitting over the weekend. There was some progress on the to do list from the 11th before the long drive to Texas.

To Do List for the Week of 06/11/2024 from Life In Pieces

Last week my motivation for getting to the sewing room was a bit low. I managed at least 15 minutes each day up till the weekend. The solid afternoons of nothing but stitching made the difference in getting my to do list checked off for last week.

1. 2024 SAHRR: Prep back for quilting ✔

2. Kate's Choice: Continue making blocks ✔

3. Guild BOM: Cut fabrics, start assembly of June block ✔

To Do List for the Week of 06/04/2024 from Life In Pieces

Last week had a lot more out of the house stuff going on then is typical.  Which was nice, being retired it seems so much easier to get into a bit of rut. Being out and about more didn't impact my stitching time too much so I was able to complete last week's to do list.

To Do List for 05/28/2024

1.  2023 SAHRR: Package and mail out for quilting ✔
2.  Kate's Choice: Continue making blocks✔

To Do List for the Week of 5/28/2024 from Life In Pieces

Hard to believe there are only a few more days left in May. In another month, we'll be half way through the year. Looking at where I'm at with my goals, I'm pretty happy with most everything except for finishes.  So I'm going to gear up on that front for a bit and see if I can make something happen there.  There were things on last week's to do list that helped with the finishing goals.

I'm just about back to normal, at least on my activities.  Though I'm easing back into my work outs, especially the bicycle time.  There was lots of sewing room time last week, so there was good progress on last week's to do list.

To Do List for the Week of 02/20/2024 from Life In Pieces

It's not been the best week.  The pinched nerve in my leg is slowly improving, but I'm still pretty slow and sore. Add to that My Guy has a stomach virus.  The only good thing out of that is I've been sleeping on the couch due to my leg and apparently missed out on the virus. Thankfully my stitching time hasn't been impacted too badly and I did pretty well with last week's long to do list.

To Do List for the Week of 7/25/2023 from Life In Pieces

There was no to do list for last week.  Grad Girl doesn't have a lot, but it's amazing how long it takes to pack and load, then unload and unpack even a small apartment.  It just didn't make sense to make a list for last week, especially since I didn't do so well on the list for the previous week. Even with another week to work on projects, I didn't check off all the items on the list.

To Do List for the Week of 6/13/2023 from Life In Pieces

It was a good week in the sewing room. Of course when it's about the only place you can sit comfortably, you do tend to spend more time there.  My to do list for last week was pretty long so not everything got checked off.

To Do List for 6/6/23

1. Just Two Charm Pack blog hop: Start subunit assembly ✔

2. SAHRR: Attach spacer border, choose final border fabric - progress

3. Diatom: Assemble block 7, cut block 8

4. Wild and Goosey: 1 blue or green block

5. Chilhowie: Leaders and enders project

To Do List for the Week of 6/6/2023 from Life In Pieces

It's been a long couple of days. My back is slowly improving.  The only place I can sit comfortably for more than a few minutes is my sewing room chair.  So I went with that to spend most of Sunday and yesterday in my sewing room.  I can sit at the computer desk for about 30 minutes at a time, so I'm slowly replying to emails and catching up on everyone's blog. But all the sewing room time paid off in a fully checked off to do list.

To Do List for the Week of 4/11/2023 from Life In Pieces

I had a mostly good week on the stitching front. A sinus headache laid me out yesterday so I didn't quite finish everything on last week's To Do List.

To Do List for the Week of 4/4/2023

1. SAHRR:  Start 5th border, make pinwheel blocks ✔

2. Diatom: Cut fabrics for blocks

3. Wild and Goosey: Make 1 block - progress

4. Chilhowie: Continue as my leaders and enders project

Three out of four, with progress on the fourth is still a good week. Especially compared to where I was most of March.  So what does this week ...

To Do List for the Week of 4/4/2023 from Life In Pieces

Wow, it's been almost a month since I last wrote out a to do list for the week.  I'm hoping the worst of my health issues are behind me so I can get more done on the stitching front.

To Do List for the Week of 3/7/2023

1. SAHRR: Work on border blocks and assembly ✔
2. Wild & Goosey: Make one green block✔
3.  Chilhowie: Continue assembling blocks as leaders and enders

At least I have three check marks for that month.  So what's the plan for this week?

To Do List for the Week of 2/21/2023 from Life In Pieces

I'm a bit late posting today.  Computer time has been limited, my shoulder has started acting up again. That's eaten into my stitching time, my blog reading and email replies.  Being at the sewing machine doesn't bother it as badly as being on the computer does, but I've had to cut down on both to help get the inflammation down.  A couple of days of limited activity and my shoulder should be back to normal.  This along with my allergies over the weekend affected my progress on last week's to do list.

Monday Motivation: A Carefree Summer from Patchwork Sampler Blog

To Do List

Early in the summer of 2021, I saw an Instagram post where someone explained her carefree summer. That phrase captured my imagination. YES! I also wanted a carefree summer. I didn’t want any pressure to start new projects or get things finished. A summer with fun and no obligations? Sign me up.

That’s pretty much what happened. Only the carefree summer turned into carefree fall and has continued into carefree winter. As a result, I had my least productive year quilting-wise since I started quilting 33 years ago. I maybe finished 10 quilts all year. MAYBE. I’m ...

Legend of Zelda Quilt from Elsie Quilts

I use a free app called Microsoft To Do to remind my scattered mind about regular tasks and things on my "some day" list. One of those is a "Read / Watch" note that includes videos and so on from The Quilt Show and other resources.

Today, I watched an interview by Lisa Walton with Katie Pasquini Masopust. The YouTube link is here. I found it so fascinating. I've seen her quilts but never realized that she first paints her ideas, then takes them apart and sews the painting together to make a template for the quilt. It left me ...

Merlin Plays Fetch & Other Breaking News from Where Art & Life Meet

Seriously, is this one of the most hilarious things ever? Merlin is SO clever! So Merlin, in addition to all of his other amusing and endearing characteristics, also plays fetch. To Do Lists & FB Live Mishaps from Where Art & Life Meet

Some people use calendars, others just keep everything they need to do in their heads, I keep lists. Motivation Monday: Perfectionism Steals Your Joy from Patchwork Sampler Blog

To Do Week of 2-15

When it comes to quilting are you a perfectionist? If so, let me tell you, friend, perfectionism steals your joy. During my years of teaching, I saw so many quilters get frustrated because everything didn’t turn out perfectly. Points don’t always match, seams won’t always align, and blocks don’t turn out precisely the size they should. It seems that some days everything is spot on and then the next day, nothing goes right. Who knows why that happens, but it does. Maybe you are sitting at a slightly different angle at your machine. Maybe you are ...
