It Takes Time from From the Strawberry Patch...

For Easter this past spring we gave our granddaughters both a "Learn to Embroider" kit. I'd seen the ads for them, they were so cute; all packaged in a darling box with the instructions, floss, a hoop, a needle and two projects: one to learn the basic stitches and a floral design. I told the girls that we'd make time and I'd help them get started. Well, time flies, as we all know, and it hasn't

Chasing Squirrels from From the Strawberry Patch...

I returned to counted cross stitch within the last two years; something I never anticipated happening, something that I certainly didn't think that I had the time for, but nonetheless  it occurred! It came about as the result of a Christmas gift from Quiltkeemosabe. I blogged about this unexpected return to handwork here, a year ago. I continue to enjoy the slow pace and the rhythm of the

Battening Down from From the Strawberry Patch...

This is what happens when snow is predicted in the south; naturally there's the insanity that occurs as everyone runs for bread and milk at the grocery stores but, then, the conversation turns to anticipated snowfall amounts and, ultimately, how long folks expect to be stranded. I'm not too worried: we have firewood enough to last and I have an adequate supply of books and stitching projects

It's A Wrap! from From the Strawberry Patch...

And just like that, it would seem, another Christmas has come and gone... or has it? We're still in the Christmas season and these days following Christmas Day can be just as much of a gift as the day itself! In my "rush, rush, hurry, hurry" frame of mind during those days leading up to the 25th I had to back-burner a few things that I had really wanted, and fully intended, to get done before the

Golden Hours from From the Strawberry Patch...

Things around here have seemed quiet and much slower-paced since the conclusion of Quilt Camp last week. On Saturday I went down the road with a friend for another Chrismon class, this one was a 3D cross with pearls. It was fun! The cross framework was constructed first with the oblong gold beads; the pearls are popped in at the end, they're free floating inside. Isn't it pretty? Of course, I

Cooler Days... from From the Strawberry Patch...

The days have turned cooler, fall is in the air, October has arrived. You know, I truly have lost track and sense of time and seasons with all the sameness of these past six months.  I know that it's autumn but I don't feel like it should be. It's more than just a sense of time flying it's more like a disorientation for me. It's hard to explain.  I told Mr. Goodneedle yesterday that if I woke up

Family, flowers, face masks...the little things in life from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

A rose from the new bushes

A beautiful moth Rich discovered this morning.
 Look at those markings.
I haven't been sewing very much of late. Between enjoying the beautiful weather and the yard, dealing with being quarantined, and making masks (yes, sewing but not my fav), the days are flying by.

My new issue of Quiltfolk,
dedicated to Louisiana quilters
The children do occasionally visit, but we are keeping social distancing alive in the back yard. And of course, we visit Rich's mom daily, but again social distances have become the norm.

New tee-shirts that a wonderfully talented ...

As Time Flies By... from From the Strawberry Patch...

It seems like I just indulged in this all-too-wonderful annual treat; the limited- time-only peppermint chocolate chip milkshake! Speaking of limits, that's exactly what I put on myself when it comes to this splurge-- ONE A YEAR. Well, it might seem like I just indulged in one but it's been a year already. Oh, my! And as if I needed further proof that time is flying and leaving me in its dust,
