Project Updates, Jodi's Seedlings Book, No Bake Mini Muffins, Summer Drinks from Canadian Needle Nana

There are certain weeds I won't cut down right away. The wild Thistles are one of them and it is for this reason. Goldfinches depend on thistles for food and use thistledown for their nests. This one was checking out the Purple Globe Thistle plant that won't bloom till late July.

The spiritual meaning of Goldfinches is to encourage resilience and embrace changes gracefully. So many of us have been tried and tested in both those regards, right?

Mid week progress on two of my quilty projects...the extra scrappy EPP 3 inch 9 patches and more Tilda ...

Pretty in Pink from Wendy's Quilts and More

Here's my latest finish - Pretty in Pink. As I said last week, I had to rescue my Tilda fabrics from a plan gone wrong.  There's little snippets of Tilda in this quilt, but they seem to have been over taken by Tula Pink!

I enjoy watching Tula Pink's videos each week on Instagram (or Facebook) and she often talks about how all of her collections are designed to work together.  I've used fabrics from three of her collections here and they really do all work together.

The Lazy Stripe pink sashing and Dragonfly border are both ...

Pretty! from Wendy's Quilts and More

I've just picked up this quilt from my long arm quilter at Busy Bee Quilt Shop and I love it.

I don't want to post a photo of the whole quilt yet because I'm going to put the binding on this weekend and it will be worth the wait.

Tilda meets Tula

I didn't set out to make a pretty pink quilt, but now that I have I'm really happy with it.

You may remember that a few weeks ago I started puddling around with some pretty Tilda fabrics.  I rushed in to making a ...

Puddling around from Wendy's Quilts and More

When I got home from Tekapo I had a sudden desire to sit at my sewing machine and just sew.

I bought some lovely Tilda fabrics at Fairlie on the way to Tekapo, so I cut into them before they could even make it into my stash.

Now I'm not sure if I even like where this is heading.

I thought I could be spontaneous and just put random blocks together like in the book, but I much prefer it when I place them carefully.  I've even considered adding sashing to this to separate the blocks, but I ...

Licorice Allsorts part 2 from Wendy's Quilts and More

Easter felt like my own personal quilt retreat just for me.  I got so much sewing done!

I thought it might take me until the end of April to piece all the blocks for the Licorice Allsorts quilt, but I sewed every day over Easter and they're all finished now.

I revisited Month 3 and remade one of the blocks, but it's not a lot better than the first time around.  I've made a note on the pattern to cut the pieces bigger if I ever make that block again.

Now I'm sewing the blocks together ...

BENTO BOX from Q-BITS

I have been anxious to start a quilt using fabric fat quarters that I recently purchased.  Some are from Tone Finnanger's Tilda collection.  Others are fabrics with a similar look.  A variation of the traditional 'Drunkard's Path' block works with the fabrics.

The quilt seems to me to have a Japanese look; so I named it Bento Box. Years ago, I made a quilt from 1930s reproduction fabrics using black as an accent to the pastels.  The look still appeals to me.

THE STATS:  "Bento Box", 2023, 34"x34", Machine appliqued, Machine pieced, Machine quilted.

Pumpkin Pin Cushion from Threads On My Socks

It is only September but I got my fall fabrics out to have a play with. Pumpkins are my favorite! The bright orange & playful pumpkins make me want to make things. I only have a small piece of this fabric left & it is one of my favorites. So, I made a pair of pin cushions to display in my sewing room & they have been bringing smiles....all day!

I modified the Tilda pattern to insert a stem & added leaves. I left the top open for stuffing and it also made it easier to sew the stem & the button on the ...

and Sew Spring Begins... from Threads On My Socks

I will be sewing some things this Spring, using AdornIt Fabrics. I was sent a whole stack of these awesome small checks, the colors are very saturated and the feel is silky. A real pleasure to sew with!

To kick off my sewing this Spring, I pulled 4 choices from the stack and got my Tilda template out to make a pin cushion. A little sew like this, always gets my creativity going.
And the little bunny?...I had a clay day a few weeks ago....really want Spring to come I think...;) I made several for push pins, magnets ...
