Thursday's Things, Thoughts and Thanks from Melva Loves Scraps

Has anyone else, like me, been struggling in remembering just what day it is? Is it a summer thing?  Is it a self-employed thing? (Or retirement... I've heard some say this, I am not retired, nor old enough to be retired.)    Maybe it is a flex-time thing... Does it really matter?  Nah... Live in the moment!  Be like Piglet!

I think that is what it means...  Today is my favorite day... I am taking one day at a time and enjoying being IN the moments as they pass.  Sometimes it seems that time is standing still... and others it ...

Thankful and Thought-full Thursday from Melva Loves Scraps

As I wrote and tested a pattern this week, I contemplated some thoughts that have been floating around in my mind...

Recently I read a devotion about the Dead Sea...

"There is a body of water 50 miles long, 10 miles wide and 1,300 feet deep.  With the sun dancing across its waves, it looks refreshing, as though its vast depths must be teeming with life.  But fishing in these waters would never yield a single catch because nothing but a few bacteria live beneath the surface.  Located at the lowest point on earth, the Salt Sea contains the ...

Thankful Thursday from Melva Loves Scraps

Give thanks in all circumstances
~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18a

Happy Thankful Thursday!  In all things I offer thanks...

#1 - For allergies... yes, even allergies.  As frustrating and annoying as they can be, I offer thanks because I am do not react nearly as bad as I once used to.  Woohoo!  I felt the runny nose and itchy, sore throat start last week when Maggie was staying with us.  I tried to get an appointment with a chiropractor who does allergy and emotional clearing but had to wait until Tuesday morning.  My voice had given out and I was back to ...

Thankful Thursday 5/19/2022 from Melva Loves Scraps

In the world as it is, with the busy schedules and expectations of doing more with less, we need to take time to stop and smell the roses...  Take time to appreciate the moments that often get overlooked, ignored or even trampled over as we move to the next activity.

Last week I read a devotion that addressed a common response to the question, "How have you been?".  So many of us often reply, "Busy."  And some of us will continue with, "It's all good, but we've been really busy."

The writer went on to address the need ...

Thankful Thursday from Melva Loves Scraps

May has arrived and it would seem that spring has too!  I feel that this month is full of possibilities!  As I saw on social media recently...

It MAY rain... It MAY snow... It MAY be 70 degrees... It MAY be 20 degrees...

I am thankful for the warmer temperatures and I am thankful for the moisture we have seen... if only the wind would S.T.O.P.

It is tempting to get some pretty flowers and brighten things up on the front porch or the back patio, but I know better!  I mean, only about 10 days ago ...

Thankful Thursday 3/10/2022 from Melva Loves Scraps

We are to be thankful in all circumstances... not thankful FOR all things/circumstances.  It's an attitude of gratitude and trusting that ALL things will work out.  And as Roseanne at Home Sewn By Us reminds me each week... “From the fullness of His grace, we have all received one blessing after another.” John 1:16

I am thankful for the moisture that is coming with the latest storm... but I don't need to be happy about the cold temps.  Right?  Ok, ok... enough of the whining.

Among other things I am grateful for is technology.  Yeah... I ...

Thankful Thursday - February 10 from Melva Loves Scraps

Thankful Thursday could easily find me grumbling and griping... BUT!  I refuse to do that... Despite the issues I have had with our desktop computer shutting down and poor sleep and various commitments that have kept me out of my studio, I am here to say I am still thankful!

I am ever so grateful that the computer has continued to re-start, and I can get some of the most important and immediately needed documents saved to an external hard drive.  Whew!

I am also thankful that we have a laptop so that I can continue my writing of patterns ...

Thankful Thursday from Melva Loves Scraps

We are at the helm of a brand new year!

This is naturally a reflective time of year, as well as a time to look forward to what we have planned.  I want to be intentional in each day to notice the things that are easily overlooked or go unnoticed.

This week as we head off for a business trip I am grateful for the ability and freedom to travel freely across multiple states... I am also grateful for the vehicles that we have and the confidence that that they have been properly maintained for us to safely and easily ...

Thankful Thursday - December 30th from Melva Loves Scraps

It is nearly time for the calendars to be turned to a new year!  Wow... What a year it has been.  I have much to be thankful for.  I already did a review of 2021... as well as a look forward to 2022.

Christmas was a quiet day until 2 p.m. when our girls and the grand-children arrived.  Chaos ensued immediately!  The oldest boy promptly headed downstairs to lay down and close his eyes because of a headache, the two bigger girls had to be stalled distracted about opening gifts because of said headache and the baby was content ...

Thankful Thursday from Melva Loves Scraps

Another week, and so much to be thankful for!

#1 - Dave and I have some kind, thoughtful and generous customers, and every once in a while, our customers "cross-over".  I have had some loyal customers that trust me with quilting projects and trust him for their gun work/repair.  And vice-versa...

A few weeks ago one of his customers had mentioned that he had been cleaning out his parents' house (it may have been his grand-parents' house) and found some old bedding that had been made with cloth portland cement bags.  Dave casually mentioned to him that I would enjoy ...

Thankful Thursday - November 18th from Melva Loves Scraps

Another week filled with things to be thankful for!

#1  The opportunity to run away, unplug and get rested and refreshed.  Though it was only for two nights, the time away was worth every bit of effort it took to get there.

We sat, we talked, we walked some, we watched the light on the canyon walls shift... we read, we watched the dog wander and pace trying to find the perfect spot to settle down and enjoy gnawing on an antelope leg she found in the area... we napped, we slept almost 12 hours both nights and we woke ...

Top Four Thankful Thursday ~ Fall Style from Melva Loves Scraps

As I reflect on all that I have experienced in the past week I have much to be thankful for!

#1  Restored health for both Dave and myself

While we have been fortunate enough to have suffered mild symptoms (very mild for me), we feel like we are functioning at about 80% and I am SOOOOOOOO happy to be out of the guest room!  I attribute my extremely mild case and quick recovery to my regiment of supplements for my thyroid health and immune system, as well as the use of some essential oils... but I will not deny that ...

Thankful Thursday from Melva Loves Scraps

I have shared how the last few weeks have been a bit stressful and chaotic but I am here to say that I have been reminded multiple times of just how blessed I am.  Here's what I am thankful for...

Good Friends:
In the previous post (Tests in Patience) I told you about how I had friends that joined me on Friday (the day Dave was supposed to have left for hunting) for breakfast and some at-home pedicures.  The conversation was good for my mind, heart and soul.

Check-ins:
The thoughts, prayers and messages from those checking in on ...

I Like Thursday #51 ~ Something Good In Every Day and Every Night from Life in the Scrapatch

My little kitties are sisters of the heart.

They make me happy.

Sometimes these days I have to make the effort to look
to find the happy in everyday.

Yesterday it was these tiny pink flowers blooming on our plum tree ...

... and the
Boom Boom Fish Tacos - Recipe Here
that my hubby made.

We started getting boxes of fresh ingredients for some of our meals from

The ones made by Mr Scrapatch look better than the ones on the recipe card
... and they tasted amazing!

I started playing Scrabble Go
on my phone with my daughter
so that ...

The Passenger Project from Samelia's Mum

#PassengerProject
#ThankfulThursday

It started out as a project for when we travelled to the US, the year before last. A big tin filled with prepared 1" hexagons to create hexie flowers, which I ended up using to make my Kingfisher Quilt. It's still one of my most favourite quilt finishes to date.

Thankful Thursday + X Plus Quilt {Progress} from Samelia's Mum

#ThankfulThursday #XPlusQuilt #NiceMoments

Yesterday was a nice day. A really nice day. You know those types of days where everything is just (for lack of a better word) "nice"?

Everyone and everything at home was as it should be. Nothing urgent requiring immediate attention. No plans and just the luxury of being able to spend the day in a relaxed fashion, doing as I pleased.
