Even with all the other quilts I am working on, I still try and keep up with my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks. It is a good way for me to keep a small focus on my scraps. We don't want them building up any more than they already are!

This is the last Sunday in July and I was able to get out my scraps and sew up some of my RSC blocks. The color for July is red and I don't need any more color or heart blocks.
I know, orange was the RSC color for May but I really did finish all of these before the end of the month. I just didn't get a chance to write about them.
I also sewed up 17 more switchplate blocks. It takes a long time to cut these out because I am trying not to make any duplicates.
I really need to get this one up on a design wall so I can see how many more I need.
The good news is I have plenty ...
read moreThis week I spent most of my time digging through my purple scrap bin.
I finished out March dealing with a few piles stacked around my sewing room.
I definitely felt a sense of accomplishment.
First, I finished sewing together the last of the green switchplate pieces I had sitting next to my sewing machine. It looks like now I need to get out my purple scraps and start cutting. The cycle never ends!
I also made one sad 16 patch block for one of my donation quilt projects. I sew up these whenever I come across a 2.5" strip that is long enough to complete a block.
I really put the pedal to the metal this week and almost got caught up on all my RSC blocks.
I actually feel like I made some progress on the scrap front this week.
I was able to actually dig through my scrap bins this week!
I pulled some more blue scraps and made more of my switchplate blocks.
These are made with a total of five 1.5" x 3.5" strips. Super easy to make and I think they will be really fun to play with.
I now have 42 blue blocks to play with. I just need to make a few hundred more in other colors.
I also cut a bunch of 3.5" squares from my low volume scraps. I have a new project in mind and I am ready ...

I might even cut a few more squares so I can make ...
read moreThis week there was a lot of activity in my sewing room. I have been busy sewing blocks into quilt tops, sewing up scraps into placemats and cutting fabrics for a few of my scrappy projects.
This included a bunch of pieces for my switchplate quilt.
I am feeling like I am catching up a bit. I still haven't even looked at my orange scraps for August but I am slowly cleaning up the loose ends from so many projects.
We have been having some very warm days so it has been a good time to stay in and sew.
It has been nice to get caught up on a few projects.
I have finished sewing together all of the Covered in Love blocks. That was my biggest accomplishment for the week. Now I just need to get them on the longarm and quilt them.
A few more blue Switchplate blocks were sewn. These are made with five 1.5" x 3.5" strips.
I also finished up my blue Chaser blocks for June.
Looks like I need 14 more ...
read moreThis week I was finally able to get out my blue scrap bin and start sorting appropriate bits for my June RSC blocks. Soon I had some cut pieces sitting next to my machine so sew as I worked on other projects.
So that means I have some blue Switchplate blocks ready to share. I had already cut the green centers in May
Here are the seventeen I finished. I think I need a total of 33 of each color so I still have some cutting to do.
I haven't decided how I am going to lay these blocks ...
