Sparkling Star
from Humble Quilts
Last week I string pieced some diamonds to test a block for the String Class I taught online on Saturday. I'll interject here, I had a really fun time and I think the participants did too.
So, when class was over I finished this star. I'm going to lose a few outside points but I can live with that.
I'm considering making this the center of a medallion quilt.

Still Stringin'....
from Humble Quilts
I was testing a 12" 8 pointed star and decided to try some solids. Wow! I love it! I'm hoping to get the other 4 points done this weekend.
Here's a link to a new video- HERE I think it comes in better when you aren't watching it through the blog.
It is from 8-12 Pacific Time.
Have an amazing weekend!!

A String Quilt Finish and Some Fabric Love
from Quilty Folk
I can't believe it's already Halloween! What a year this has been. Tonight we've only had one family trick-or-treating. Between the Covid thing and the city trunk-or-treats, there's just not very many kids out doing the rounds.
String quilt |
I wanted to show the latest quilt finish around here before getting buried in next weeks busyness. This was a string quilt started from Lori's December 2018 Stringalong.
The full view |
All the strings were pulled directly from the scrapbin and of course, I couldn't resist the charm of ensuring most were sewn in a ... read more

Stitching, Knitting and Cutting
from The Cozy Quilter
I think I spent some time every day this week working on this table runner--the quilting took a long time and two bobbins of thread to finish. I made the string pieced triangles in an online workshop with Sarah Bond, hosted by the Modern Quilt Guild, 3 weeks ago.
The backing is a fun fabric purchased in the last year. I like the orange accents in it and the random "Hello". The binding is an orange solid I had in my stash. The bobbin had 50 wt thread in it but the top thread was 30 wt. Those quilting lines ... read more

Four Finishes and Another New Project
from The Cozy Quilter
Christine finished the binding on the quilt we made for a family affected by the tragedy in Nova Scotia a few short weeks ago. This quilt is ready to be packed up and mailed to the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild for distribution. The binding is a medium blue fabric with tiny daisies on it that I found in my stash. Christine has a clothes line in her backyard that doubles as a place to hang quilts for photo ops. We hope that this quilt brings comfort and peace. There is love in every stitch.
The next two finishes are gifts ... read more

BasketWeave 2020 Quilt #2
from Humble Quilts
Binding and label is on and sewn!
It is such a busy quilt, Diane and I decided an allover pattern would work great.
Diane's quilting info HERE. Please consider her if you need to send out quilts for quilting.
Here's the backing I came up with.
The binding looks great with the cheddar!
A quick shot after washing.
Porter likes to come upstairs when I'm sewing but coming back down is a little harder with his age, He was barking at me to come up and help!!
More training hikes! This was a steep one- Gray Butte ...

Stringin' on a Friday!
from Humble Quilts
Actually I'm done stringin'!! I eliminated 2 rows from my original size and added a border. This was copied from an unusual setting that I saw on quiltindex.org
The blocks finish at 4". I really could have made them 6" and been perfectly fine.
Look at this beautiful day we had yesterday!
Because I will be trekking in Peru this spring I need to keep moving as much as possible! I'm not super excited for the forecast of snow next week, so I'll keep getting out and exercising as much as possible until then. Our high ...
