Easy Loop Meander – Beginner Friendly Free Motion Quilting Stitch from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Today we’re going to look at how I quilted Whirligig, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie pattern with an easy loop meander.

This beginner-friendly free motion quilting stitch is great as an all over design. For Whirligig, I wanted something fast, but that I could customize to fit the size of the blocks and quilt the background separately from the print fabrics.

So I loaded the quilt on sideways so I was quilting from top to bottom so I could quilt the entire way across without having to break my thread. Then I quilted the easy loop meander in the ...

Beginner-friendly Pinwheel Quilt – Whirligig Stashin’ with Stephanie from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

It’s Stashin’ with Stephanie time, when we release a brand new fat quarter-friendly quilt pattern that has been inspired by this month’s featured fabric, Josie Jean by Amy Reber for Clothworks.

This month’s pattern is my favorite type of quilt, one that looks super complicated, but is actually pretty simple to put together. There are literally are just nine steps to complete the entire block. I’ve made pot holders that are more complicated!

When I looked at the bright colors in Josie Jean, it just made me super cheery and reminded me of whirligig’s flying ...

Easy background filler and waves! Free motion quilting tutorial from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

In today’s video I show you how I quilted Undulation, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie quilt pattern.

The quilting is really stunning and helped separate the fat quarter prints from the background, but there’s absolutely nothing complicated about the quilting designs. It just looks really amazing when you combine some simple elements.

You get to see a quilting play-by-play as I talk through what I am doing and why as you see me quilt in real time on a Go Pro camera.

I used a series of wavy lines in the background, working my way from the block ...

Offset Log Cabin Tutorial & Pattern! Fat Quarter Friendly – Undulation by Quilt Addicts Anonymous from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Sewing an offset log cabin has been on my quilt bucket list for more than a decade and we’re finally doing it today!

This is seriously one of the coolest blocks out there. The print strips are fatter than the background strips, which makes the block appear curved even though it is made out of a bunch of rectangles.

That makes for some seriously fun layout possibilities like the undulating curve we are creating over two rows. But the fun of the log cabin is that there are an almost endless amount of layouts you can choose from once ...

Easy Star & Loop Meander – Quilting Stitch Tutorial from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

For our remake of Twinkle, I chose a super simple star and loop meander.

This design is very beginner friendly. You just need to be able to quilt a loop and a five-pointed star, both of which you probably have been doodling since grade school.

I love this design because it is fast, simple and looks great on kids quilts and patriotic quilts.

I quilted this on my longarm, but it is just as easy on your home sewing machine. Enjoy and tag us on the socials if you give it a go.

Supplies we used:

Rulerwork Quilting Triangles! Great quilting designs for half square triangles from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

In today’s video I am showing you how I quilted Tropical Garden, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie pattern.

The fat quarter-friendly is packed with half square triangles, and I wanted to accentuate that with the quilting. So I outlined every single triangle with stitch-in-the-ditch and then stitched a triangle through the center of each HST half.

I love the way it turned out. The texture of the quilting mimics the design of the quilt and it’s fabulous. You can watch as I quilt seeing how I move the ruler around to create this texture with minimal thread breaks ...

In today’s Quilting the Quilt video I show you how I quilted Sparkle, one of our Stashin’ with Stephanie patterns from a few months ago. I used a combination of rulerwork to outline the diamonds, a topographic free motion quilting design within each diamond and swirls in the background.

I love how the rulerwork defines each diamond and the topographic stitch within each block make it look like the blocks are radiating out from the center.

We cover how to do each technique in detail with some play-by-play descriptions so you can give it a try on your own ...

Rulerwork on the Longarm Tutorial! Straight lines and diamonds from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

In today’s video I walk you through the quilting I did on Ladies Chain, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie pattern.

The pattern was so simple, that I wanted to elevate the quilt with a little bit fancier quilting. So I used rulerwork to create a series of diamonds in the print squares and straight lines in the white background.

I talk you through why I made my quilting decisions, my thread choices (and regrets) and then give you a play-by-play of exactly what I am doing as I am doing it in real time so you can give the ...

Fat Quarter-Friendly Star Quilt with NO Y-Seams! Sparkle from Quilt Addicts Anonymous from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

I am in LOVE with this month’s Stashin’ with Stephanie design. I actually had something quite different in mind, but when I realized that my original idea would require massive amounts of background fabric, I made the switch to a medallion star design and the results are fantastic!

Sparkle is one big star, and while it looks stunning, it is actually pretty simple to put together. There are NO Y-seams in the quilt, and I break down how to sew your diamond blocks and turn them into easy to assemble wedges that make up the quilt top. You’re ...
