Soha and Frogkisser from Sew Preeti Quilts

Me: I avoid cleaning and organizing.
Paul: Of course, I clean only when it is absolutely essential.
Me: I am glad you agree.
Paul: Let sleeping critters lie
Me: Exactly. When I do clean/organize, I get attacked by squirrels.

At this moment, Paul lost the thread of conversation.

In anticipation of the second shipment of Island Batik Ambassador boxes, I had to clean house, get rid of some scraps and make room for the new supplies.

In doing so, I came across some star blocks, that date back to 2015, I think. Who knows? It was so long ago ...

Squirrel Continued from Ravelly1

 Let's get into it.......

So here's my first doodle attempt....sorry I didn't take a better photo. It's an eye. I'm going to like this "Doodler" design program now that I understand and have practiced. The online facebook group is a fantastic resource when ironing out what to do.

The hankie folding is coming along. I just need to be more precise. The great thing about this process is if you mess up all you need to do is press out the folds and start over!!

Did I mention that I'm now into Junk ...

Two or Three Squirrels from Ravelly1

 Hi everyone!!

Well, I don't know what has happened....oh yes I do.....youTube happened. I was stitching along on my be attitude blocks when suddenly late one night I saw this

Design Doodler! And of course they were doing a wonderful sale pitch and I fell for it hook, line & sinker......(I'm doing a happy dance here!)

I uploaded it on my iPad and laptop & have been s-l-o-w-l-y learning the process.  Hopefully coming soon.....something embroidered out.....fingers crossed.
The second squirrel was when I stumbled across handkerchief dress blocks. Now this is not a handkerchief, it ...

Let it go, let it go. . . from The Academic Quilter

Hi everyone! Hope you have had a really good week. The weather here is about to turn, so the hubs and I spent part of the day outside raking the massive amount of leaves from the front lawn. This is the downside of having trees. It was good work that took my mind off a lot of things, until I had to go inside for another Zoom meeting.

You may remember just a few days ago when I pulled some blue blocks from deep in the closet, and then didn't know what to do with them. I had four ...

Design Wall Monday - October 31, 2022 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

Good Morning Quilters!

It's Halloween tonight, and I have great memories of making costumes for my children and the fun they had trick or treating in the neighborhood years ago.  There are no little children in our neighborhood now, and we don't get any visitors to our front door.  I don't even buy any candy. as I find I am the major consumer of it.

I am doing some cleanup of the quilt room, and looking at what projects I want to take with me to a retreat that is coming up soon.  There are plenty to ...

Embroideries in hoops from Quilting & Learning

I've been doing some slow stitching in the last few weeks. It's always such a relaxing thing to do.

Stitching a second seascape

Last month, I wrote a post about Embroidering a seascape. It was based on TextileArtist.org's workshop with Bethany Duffy (see Related links below). I decided that I wanted to go further with this technique since it's a lot of fun and since I changed it up a little, was able to learn a new beading technique

Chasing squirrels from The Academic Quilter

Well, hello everyone! Been a couple of weeks, hasn't it? Sometimes life is more complicated than we want it to be, and really, I would swear it's only November first. Wasn't Halloween yesterday? In the last couple of weeks, I pieced a queen-sized quilt (which is a Christmas present, so it will be shown in January), visited a quilty friend, worked more than I can say, had about 50,000 meetings, and also managed to sleep a little. And, hey, the furniture that we ordered in April finally came! So if I need a nap, there's ...

Island Batik March Challenge - Scrapbuster from Sew Preeti Quilts

The March 2021 Island Batik Challenge is to make a Scrapbuster Quilt.

Being a new ambassador I do not have a lot of Island Batik fabrics.

Me: How do I make a scrapbuster without scraps?
Paul: You have no scraps?
Me: How do I make an Island Batik scrapbuster quilt without Island Batik scraps?
Paul: Did you not get a big box of fabric?
Me: Well, yes, I did. However, some of that fabric has been used in previous projects and some is earmarked for later projects. Whatever is left is a bit limiting.
Paul: So what did you do ...

Oxygen from Sew Preeti Quilts

It started with Bernie.  She held a contest and a giveaway. I did not win. Emily did.
But then Emily forfeited her prize so it came to me. A charm pack of Moda Wovens.

A charm pack of seemingly plain (black, white and gray) fabrics did not match anything in my stash. I should've just set it aside to be addressed at a later date because January was hugely busy month for me. There was the IB Unboxing Video and post (nerve-racking), making of placemats (first IB project) and the challenge of being the first in the IB Create ...

Scraps and Squirrels from Sew Preeti Quilts

Picture the scene at the end of the party.  Empty bottles, missing silverware, dirty dishes, stained carpet, mess everywhere and you don't even know where to begin.

Scraps Explosion

Half Made Blocks

The Rainbow Scrap Challenge feels like a party and it IS a lot of fun...till you get to this time of the year.

Now the party is coming to a close and there are blocks everywhere. How many blocks? Did I lose/misplace some? I was going to redo that one but then forgot. Where do I even start?

Framed Jewel Blocks (Light Borders)

happy wednesday . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I'm going to start with the big news, right off the bat . . .
One.  Hundred.  Days.

Can you believe it?!?  How much stitching do you have to do in order to be ready for it? That's the million dollar question, isn't it?  LOL!

Late Sunday afternoon I finally sat down to stitch, but got distracted by a new TeaTime Holidays magazine . . .
Yeah, more Christmas! Though the first tea party they share is a Thanksgiving one! It justified having the pumpkin blondie with my mug of pumpkin spice tea.

I combated Monday work blues by 'fallifying" my office space ...

weekend busy happies . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I'm going to tell you a true story . . .

I read a quote that caught my attention: "The secret to having everything, is believing you already do."

Immediately I thought of my current fabric stash and felt a little convicted. Then this verse of scripture popped into my head:  "Lord I believe; help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)

Then I ordered this . . .
To go with this . . .
Which it does, and very nicely, I might add.  The end.  No names were changed to protect the not-so-innocent.

Where do I go from that? It's been a very busy weekend! Of course ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Squirrel or Two.... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's been a quiet week in my home town.......... but it's Friday and that means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on again!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

A couple of weeks ago I got a pair of bird feeders and set them up in the back yard where we can see them from our patio.  It has been quite a treat seeing all the birds, but lately we've been visited by a pair of squirrels who have provided some serious acrobatic entertainment!  I'm sorry I don't ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Friday is here once again, and that means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  I've been chasing a squirrel this week, so I've got something fun to share - and I hope you've been having fun sewing too.  Let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Last week I saw a really cool little quilt on Instagram....

...and started doing a little research.  @mamacatquilts said that it was "kawandi" quilting, so I did a Google search, and found an article and mini-tutorial for a machine sewn version by Piece Love and Happiness called Modern Kawandi ...

Quarantine SQUIRREL... from Nestlings By Robin

Hello again.
I hope I am not the only
one suffering from
'Squirrel' syndrome during
this quarantine....?
Pretty sure I am not
and thought I would share
a few of the things I have done
since this began.

We went to Chicago mid March
for a baby shower and that was
the first time I had really taken
my head out of my work long
enough to notice what was going on.
When we got home, I started making
some masks for my youngest
who works in a unit that
was being transformed into
a Covid unit and that freaked ...

Make-A-List Monday - Chasing A Squirrel! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Another week of sheltering in place has passed - what is it, five weeks now?  Seems like it's been forever.  And it's not horrible - there are much worse places to be - but it is very different, and it's hard to stay on track sometimes, isn't it?  So while trying to stay on track this week, I ended up chasing a squirrel!

As I was putting together a template for a puzzle-style t-shirt quilt, I decided to check out the BluPrint free classes, and was pleased to find a class by Christina Cameli available called The ...

RU Ready4Winter? I am NOW! from Sew Fresh Quilts

RU Ready4Winter?

I am NOW! This sweet squirrel quilt makes me feel all cozy just looking at it!

I am so pleased with the combination of fabrics used for this quilt!!!

The acorns in that background fabric?!!!!!

I am simply NUTS about this quilt!

Those little itty bitty paw prints?!!!!

Adorable... Especially on the binding.

The backing is a bit of what was left of the paw prints and another sweet animal faces print I found lingering in my stash. Speaking of STASHES..... These squirrels certainly know how to pack their stash for the winter. Meanwhile, as much as I ...
