Scrappy Hats QAL Day 7 from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

Welcome to Day 7!

For todays block we will make a striped hat brim. It reminds me of a candy cane stripe and peppermint. I love stripes so this hat brim is one of my favorites. It won't take very long to make, I would allow a half an hour to complete today's block. I used a red and then the same white background fabric that I used for my pinwheel block. But you can pull any colors you want for your striped hat brim. Have fun with it! So go and grab a little snack to stash ...

Scrappy Hats QAL Day 6 from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Welcome to Day 6!

Today we will work on snowman hat brim #5, Pinwheels. Again mix up the colors so that you are not repeating any of the fabrics in this block. This block will take a little longer to complete, I'm guessing a half an hour or so... Pinwheels are one of my favorite blocks to put together. Like yesterday, we will do the same easy technique to complete the triangle blocks. Each pinwheel uses four triangle blocks. We will make three pinwheels for the snowman's hat brim. For my background fabric I pulled a white print ...

Scrappy Hats QAL Day 5 from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Today we will work on snowman hat brim #4, Scrappy Triangles. Again mix up the colors so that you are not repeating any of the fabrics in this block. This block won't take very long to make. 15 minutes or so, that can be easily fit into a day. My mom tries to sew a little bit every day. It's amazing how much you can get done in a week when you sew just a little bit each day.  If you are a beginner quilter, today's block uses an easy technique to create a triangle block. So ...

Scrappy Hats Day 4 from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Welcome to Day 4!

Today we will work on Snowman Block Checkerboard brim.  There are 13 blocks all together for this quilt. These sweet snowmen remind me of school recess in the wintertime. I just love all of the sweet faces and different hats! Reminds me when all of the kiddos used to line up to go outside! I used to be a playground supervisor when I worked at the school as a media clerk. There used to be a mad dash to put on the snow gear if there was new snow. Especially if it was the build a ...

Scrappy Hats QAL Day 3 from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Welcome to Day 3!

Today we will work on snowman hat brim #2. It's another super easy block and will only take you a few minutes to complete. The pattern does not list what fabrics to use for your hat brims. Just to make it scrappy and have fun with it. This way your quilt will have a personality all of its own. I want to give you space to be creative and have fun mixing up the colors. If you are using a limited number of fat quarters and not pulling out of your stash of fabric... to ...

The Organized Quilter from Repro Quilt Lover

Let me begin by saying this is an aspirational post. I am not an organized quilter or an organized anything, really. But, I need an organized system to accomplish what makes me happy; maybe you can relate.

I am going to assume if you are reading this blog you like to quilt. And, therefore, are probably a creative person — a “creative type.” Generally, we creative types are free spirits, which doesn’t translate well into focus, planning and organization. But, if I give in to the free spirit and let it run my days, those days are ruled by a ...
