Happy February! It's first false spring here in Minnesota. It's unseasonably warm here this week. It's supposed to hit 50's today. I should take Josephine for a walk, but she had a bath the other day and she's looking so nice that I hate to chance her rolling in something disgusting at the park. It's crazy warm, I've even cracked open a couple of windows to air the house out. I suddenly have spring fever and it's too soon! Toooooo sooooooo....... although it's been glorious to finally see the sunshine and ... read more

Get this Christmas quilt pattern for beginners, make it fast, and add whimsy to your holiday decor. You may want to make extras as gifts!
Photo by Annie’s. Used with permission.
I designed Starry Night for Exclusively Annie’s with the Blizzard collection by Moda Fabrics. It measures 36″ x 36″ with 5″ and 6-3/4″ blocks. I just got it back, and I tell you, I am tempted to hang it up right now instead of waiting all the way until December!
The blocks are very easy to make, so this project is ideal for newcomers to the ...

It's been hotter than Hades here lately, we're not used to this kind of heat in June. This is more like mid July- August weather. I have been spending a lot of time inside, only to venture out to water the plants and flowerpots. I'm babying my little veggie starts and so far I've only lost one whimpy tomato plant. While trying to keep cool in the house I worked on a chilly little snowman mug rug. It's quick, it's cute.... perfect if you want to get a jump on some Christmas stocking stuffers ... read more

Depending on where you live, it is cold outside. Some of our friends in the northern climes are experiencing some bitter, cold temperatures. It is one of those very cold locations that we envisioned when we created this block for the Winter Wonderland Mystery Sew-A-Long. Our snowman builder just couldn't take the weather anymore—not when there was a warm and cozy fire nearby.
Welcome! Mr. Snowman is all quilted, bound and is guarding the door to the sewing room for the winter months. This was a wonderful Country Threads pattern to stitch up, you can find it here. I used a straight-line quilting approach for a quick and easy finish. Somehow I made twice as many flying geese units than I needed (?!!), they were relegated to the back. And, speaking of people at the door.
