Boxed Up Quilt from Alamosa Quilter

I got some new patterns in my shop recently.

Cluck Cluck Sew Patterns

Tick Tock, Tango, Simplify, and Boxed Up

I love all of the Cluck Cluck Sew patterns because they are all well-written and include fabric requirements and directions for several different sizes of quilt.

Also new in my shop is a fabric collection called Swatch.

I decided to use some of these fabrics and make the Boxed Up pattern.

I don't have it all sewn together yet but you get the idea. This is the crib size version.

Splendid Split Stars :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

I finally completed the Splendid Split Stars quilt.

Splendid Split Stars quilt finished

This took me much longer than it should have because I lost steam on the project. I'm sure you know how that can be! My main issue with finishing was that I sold all of the kits before I finished the shop sample. Then I thought, "why am I bothering to finish this when all the kits are sold?" Well, I finished because I didn't want another unfinished project AND because I might be able to make a few more kits with a couple substitutions for the fabrics I no ...

Splendid Split Stars Progress from Alamosa Quilter

Whew! These blocks are easy, just squares, half square triangles and quarter square triangles, using just three fabrics per block, but the fabric placement is critical and so easy to turn the units between the design wall and the sewing machine!

Splendid Split Stars blocks done

I still have to sew all the blocks together and wanted to do that on Sunday afternoon, but I got one set of blocks sewn together wrong! It took me half an hour to figure that out and to figure out which set was wrong. So instead of sewing the blocks together I spent my Sunday afternoon ripping apart ...

Eclipse :: A 5 Yard Pattern from Alamosa Quilter

This is another fun 5 Yard Quilt pattern called Eclipse. All of these patterns are so well written and easy to follow!

image of Eclipse pattern cover

I used 5 Australian Fabrics from my shop to make up a shop sample.

Eclipse pattern made up in Australian Fabrics

I need to get this to my long arm quilter this week then decide what fabric I want to use for binding. Decisions, decisions ... only made harder by the fact that I have over 100 Australian Aboriginal fabrics to choose from!

Animal Magic Quilt :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

Still in love with this one!

Animal Magic Quilt finished

The finished size is 54" by 73". It is so warm and snuggly! I enjoyed sitting under it while hand sewing the binding to the back. I still have a few kits left for this quilt and not enough of the fabrics left to make more. Oh well! If you would like a kit you can purchase it here: Animal Magic Quilt Kit

If you just want some of the fabrics, then you can view what I have left here: Animal Magic Fabrics

I'm kind of anxious for the kits to sell out ...

Completely Smitten with this One from Alamosa Quilter

These fabrics arrived on Tuesday of last week. The collection is called Animal Magic from Dashwood Studios.

Animal Magic fabric collection images

On Wednesday I picked a pattern and cut everything out. On Thursday morning I pieced this quilt top.

Animal Magic Quilt top shop sample

The backing is the adorable fabric on the left and the binding is the mustard strips on the left. If you want to see a better photo of the backing fabric click the following link: Winter Nap Sleepy Friends on Cream. The pattern is called Addison by Villa Rosa Designs. I kitted the quilt up too, Animal Magic Quilt Kit. It will finish at 54 ...

Home Sweet Holidays Sample :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

It's all quilted, labeled and bound now.

Home Sweet Holidays Quilt Kit sample

The panel is from the Home Sweet Holidays collection as are three of the five fabrics that surround the panel. This collection is a Moda collection from last Christmas. It arrived really late last year (the week before Thanksgiving) so I didn't even bother making a sample with the collection last year. I have a few kits available using the exact fabrics shown in the photo above - no substitutions.

The quilt finishes at 47 1/2" by 67 1/2". The pattern used is called Panel Squared Quilt. If you purchase ...

A "Ghastlie" Quilt from Alamosa Quilter

While I was searching for patterns that feature panels, I came across this one. It doesn't feature a panel, but does feature large scale prints. It's called Sidelines.

image of cover of Sidelines pattern

It's by the same company that wrote the pattern for the quilt I shared in my previous post. Again, I only ordered one copy because I wasn't sure if the pattern would be good or not. It is great! The quilt looks very complicated but it is really easy to put together.

I used the Ghastlie Getaway collection for this sample, plus two basics from my shop.

Panel Pattern :: Diva 5 from Alamosa Quilter

I have been on a mission lately to find some new patterns that feature a panel. This one is a "keeper."

cover of Diva 5 pattern image

I don't yet have any of these patterns in stock in my shop. I only got one copy since I was not familiar with this pattern company. Lots of folks have great ideas for quilt patterns, but it is a lot harder to write a good quilt pattern than most folks realize. I am happy to report that this is a great pattern!

Here is my version of this pattern.

Panel Squared Quilt Pattern from Alamosa Quilter

I have been searching for patterns that feature panels recently and found several that I like. This one is called Panel Squared Quilt.

Panel Squared Quilt pattern image

I picked a panel from my shop and whipped up a sample.

Home Sweet Holiday Quilt Kit sample

It's not quilted yet, but will be soon. The binding will be the same red as the inner and outer borders. I liked it so much that I kitted up a few of these. So if you want to make one just like mine, you can!

Or if you just want the panel I have that option too.

A Finish :: My bright kids quilt from Alamosa Quilter

I worked hard last week at the shop getting this adorable quilt finished up.

Black, White & Bright Quilt Kit, unquilted

Black, White & Bright Quilt Kit, quilted

I put the hearts on black fabric from the collection on the back.

And here is another shot of the finished quilt.

finished Black, White & Bright quilt

The quilt finishes at 54" by 65" and I made up a few kits. Originally I was planning on using a rainbow stripe fabric for the binding. It looked fine, but felt a little busy to me. So I opted for the bright lime green dot fabric from the collection instead.

The pattern is ...

Quilting from Alamosa Quilter

I decided to quilt this one myself instead of taking it to my long arm quilter. Click here to read my previous post on this project and for fabric information.

Shop Sample Full image being quilted

I outlined all the animals in the center and did a little stitch in the ditch. Did some back and forth quilting along the top and bottom of the panel.

I am using a ruler for the stitch in the ditch and straight line outlining I am doing. I'll probably do some more back and forth in the blue areas of the borders. I'm not quite sure what ...

New Shop Sample from Alamosa Quilter

My shop has had this fabric collection for months but I just got around to making up a sample with it. The collection is called Black, White and a Touch of Bright.

Black/White/Bright shop sample using Quilter's Palette pattern

The pattern I used is called Quilter's Palette. It's a Villa Rosa Designs postcard pattern. The quilt will finish at 54" by 60", which makes a really nice toddler size quilt.

I'll get kits cut later this week and try to drop this off with my long arm quilter soon. Until then, I think it's adorable even unquilted.

Woodland Winter Quilt Kit :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

Finally got the cat to let me get this one quilted and bound.

Woodland Winter Quilt Kit Sample quilt

This one is called Woodland Winter Quilt Kit. It finishes at 75" by 75" and is a beginner friendly kit. The only piecing involved is the four nine patches and eight large half-square triangles. The rest of the piecing is just sewing the units together in a five by five grid.

The four large printed blocks are from a panel, which is of course, included in the kits. Unfortunately, I don't have any more panels, besides the ones in the kits. And honestly, I don't ...

New Quilt Kit from Alamosa Quilter

I wanted to share with you a photo of the new quilt top I just finished and am kitting up for my shop. However, Ms. Spooky Boo had other plans.

cat on quilt top

The quilt is currently being quilted by my longarmer so you will have to wait to see the quilt that is so good the cat couldn't wait until it was finished to try it out. She actually pulled it down off the design wall to get on it!

No, I didn't make her move. I waited for her to wake up on her own before folding it up ...

Chubby Tubby Finish from Alamosa Quilter

I got my new set of shop sample Chubby Tubbies done!

new set of Chubby Tubbies using Random Thoughts fabrics

These were made using some of the fabrics from the new Random Thoughts collection by Marcia Derse for Windham Fabrics. I also just received a resupply of the patterns, Chubby Tubbies.

You need 5 fat quarters, 4 zippers and some batting to make these. I used Soft 'n Stable batting which is why these stand up so nicely on their own. A half yard package of Soft 'n Stable is plenty for all four bags. You can use whatever batting you want, but the Soft 'n Stable is what ...

Autumn Art from Alamosa Quilter

These gorgeous fabrics arrived earlier this week. I already had the samples made as the shop kit arrived a couple months ago. The collection is called Autumn Art from In the Beginning Fabrics.

Autumn Art Kit projects

The Autumn Art Kit makes all three projects. The kits include the fabrics for the front of all three projects plus the binding for all three projects and the pattern. You'll notice that I opted to leave off the binding on the pillow cover. I have a very limited number of kits so if you want a kit you should order pretty soon.

The panel is ...

Spirited Quilt from Alamosa Quilter

This is what I did with the Spirited fabrics and panel.

Spirited Quilt Kit sample

The details: the quilt will finish at 49" by 60". The Spirited Quilt kits are available for $59.99. The kit includes the exact fabrics used in the sample for the quilt top, plus the binding and the pattern. The binding will be Spirited Teal Mottled fabric from the collection.

I have a very limited number of these kits left and not enough fabric to make more. Several folks bought kits before I even had the sample finished! Just based on my crappy drawing and the fabrics.

Starlets :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

I finally finished the binding on my Starlets shop sample quilt.

Starlets quilt

Most of the fabrics used are from the 6th Street Cottons collection. The pattern is excellent. I love that she includes a cutting diagram so you know exactly how to cut your fat quarters. The stars are made with the simple stitch and flip technique, so super easy and fast. And the pattern includes several different sizes of finished quilt. I made the smallest size because I can get it done quicker and it is easier to display a smaller quilt in my shop.

Reminder: today is the last ...
