Just the essentials from Quilt in Progress

Ready to go to the auction!

As I said, I wanted a small crossbody purse to wear to auctions. I didn’t want everything I usually carry in my purse, because it would be too heavy. Thus, the name, Essential. This worked up so well that I may sew some companion zip pouches and crossbody purses to sell.

I was glancing through my stash and this yellow/blue plaid men’s shirt caught my eye. I had thought to remake it into a blouse for me, but I couldn’t resist using it to make this purse.

Foraging and Fancy Feet from Celtic Thistle Stitches

The strange new life we are living continues and like most of you, I suspect, we have adapted to the restrictions and settled in to a new routine.

On our permitted daily exercise we wandered into a "New to Me" small wood not far from home and discovered an abundance of wild garlic.

Well, it was too good an opportunity to miss!

Foraging complete we returned home and dug out the recipe books :)

Wild garlic and courgette soup for lunch and enough left over for two more lunches in the freezer, a good and delicious result all round.

Lumber Jack & Jill from Sew Fresh Quilts


I'm a lumberjack and I’m ok....


This quilt makes me very very very happy.

Those silly faces look so fabulous.



The plaid shirts with pockets turned out so realistic!




And those crazy toques!!!






Quilted using a black/grey/white variegated thread on top and in the bobbin in organic wavy lines using my walking foot on my domestic sewing machine. 



The binding is this handsome grey text print and I added a couple strips to add interest to a side joint.


 


The backing is the remainder of the wide backing flannel used in Lumber Jills’ shirts.
