So it has been six months, eh..... from Books, Hooks, Sticks, etc.

I can't believe that it has been three six months since I last posted here. Time flies when you are on lockdown!

I have not been idle.......I was working in February and most of March.  Then, through no fault of ours, our entire department was laid off, right about the time that the lockdown in NJ was happening.

It was not a total shock, the business world is changing and companies need to make decisions based on business.  I took it as a sign that I have another adventure waiting for me on the other side of this ...

Dotted Rays from Becca's Crazy Projects

I have hoarded this great yarn from past year's Maryland Sheep and Wool Festivals long enough. It was time to cast on another Dotted Rays and get knitting.
This yarn is by Hobbledehoy Yarn + Fibers. I saw it at the festival and had to have it.
The pink/purple/blend is an amazing yarn by Yarn Hero. I love yarns like this.
The constantly changing colors just make me happy! I love knitting this shawl.

Squiggle and Stripe from Becca's Crazy Projects

It took me almost as long to mend in the ends than it took me to finish knitting this shawl. I wasn't too sure about the lumpy shape of the finished piece before blocking.
I really like the squiggle effect. But all those color changes! Four different colors make for beatufule work and lots of ends.
Like usual, I went with wet blocking to get a dramatic shape. This helped get rid of the lumpy bits and brought out the squiggles. It also made the shawl a shawl shape and size. I was concerned it wouldn't be big ...

Knitting Project Bag from Quilting Stories

Knitting project bag

After seeing many such bags on Pinterest and Instagram I decided to sew my own knitting bag.
I chose this lovely printed canvas from Elanbach which has a good firmness required for this kind of project. Very pleased with this first bag I will sew some others using plain canvas from my stash.

Until now I did not buy any new material. The purpose is : using all the stuff I have at home and decluttering.

On the last picture I displayed my new knitting bag next to a shawl I knitted and a cross stitch embroidery I achieved in 2012.

Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm almost done with the Squiggle and Stripe by Stephen West. Yarn is Knit Picks Hawthorne.
This is my carry-along knit project. A simple asymmetrical shawl made with big yarn and big needles. I didn't use a pattern as this is a simple shawl design. Basically, increase one at the beginning of every right-side row, decrease one at end of right-side row, increase one at the end of every wrong-side row, slipping the last stitch with yarn in back at end of every row.
I ordered and received my new labels from Dutch Label Shop. These are perfect ...

Reflection – Last Progress Post from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

The Reflection shawl will get finished tonight. Here’s the progress on the last photo I shared: I was just getting near the end of the lace work. Here it is tonight. I’m down to the ribbing and can make as much ribbing or as little as I want to make. I asked Vince to tell...

simple shawl I can't get wrong? from Charm About You

My attempts at dressmaking are practically none existent, other than some very cute baby dresses made way back and the occasional make for my kids. Simple stuff but simple is a good place to start isn't it? Patterns terrify me and for a long, long, long time I have wanted to make my own clothes. I'm saying this knowing I have said it before but maybe this will be the year.

This is perhaps the simplest make ever because I cheated. I used this knit jersey from The Textile Centre

Knitting Update from Becca's Crazy Projects

As usual, I have more knitting projects in progress than any sane person should. This is one of those easy to carry projects. Only a few balls of yarn and big needles to make a simple scarf or small shawl.
I've been working on this fun shawl from Stephen West's latest shawl book. It might be the smallest shawl in the book, but it isn't the quickest.
I picked up this fun sock yarn by Into the Whirled at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival
Yesterday I finally wound it into a cake so I can make ...

Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

I have been in a sort of creative slump. I'm having difficulty getting motivated to embark on some new sewing adventure. That doesn't mean I'm not creating, I don't think that is possible. I just haven't found a new project I'm really excited about.

I did finish my Helix Hat. It isn't shaped like the pattern because I wasn't paying attention when I read the pattern. It was a good project, though, and I will likely make another.
Sometimes I think my motivational block is caused by some of the clutter in ...

All Things Yarn from Becca's Crazy Projects

Since the last yarn flavored post, I've cranked a pair of socks using my new 72 slot cylinder.
I've started on another shawl using the fun colors of Mandala yarn from Lion Brand. This one is still a work in progress.
And I started working on a design to make a stunning shawl, assuming I can sort out the math required. This is just my stitch counting sample. Assuming I manage to make it work, it will be much more colorful and exciting than this early stage appears.

Peacock Petals Finish! from Becca's Crazy Projects

The last rounds of this beautiful shawl were slow going. Peacock Petals Shawl pattern is free.
When it was done I put it over my exercise ball so I could get a feel for the resulting fabric.
I knew it was going to be a monster to block, but wet blocking was the best choice to get that lace to open up.
Here it is blocked. This is why I love wet blocking knit and crochet projects. It lets the lace shine.
This one is all about looks because it is too light and lacy to offer any warmth.
It ...

Crocheting Along from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've almost finished my Peacock Petals Shawl. Once I get it blocked I'll share it in full.
I needed a new project, so I grabbed this cake made with several balls of Knit Picks Chroma worsted.
I got hooking using a free pattern on Ravelry called Raspberry Croissant Shawl
I've been working on it for a few nights and I really like how it's turning out. I'm not even close to done with this one and I'm already thinking about my next. That's short-attention-span crafting!

My Color Affection from Marelize Ries

This past month I have kept my hands busy with this Color Affection Shawl.  As I was in the process of the knit, I was unsure of my color selection but once it was completed, I quickly changed my mind.  Here is a few pictures showing off this striped beauty!

...I am already thinking of making another!
