What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Sew Wot Tuesday had rolled around again, and this time we met at Jude's home.  It was good to see Mary again, she is in recovery mode and getting better.  Jude showed us her new mystery quilt, a Kaffe Fasset design in pretty blues.  That will keep her busy for a while.  

Jude was first up with the Show and Tell too.  She had a wonderfully graphic quilt back from the commercial quilter, and what a beauty it was.  I  rather like the way she did the borders too.  There is just the binding to be done, and then ...

 I was the hostess this week so I didn't have to venture out in the wet weather, just wait till the guests arrived.  Two of our friends couldn't make it so there were just 5 of us this time.

Show and tell is always exciting, so nice to see what the others have been busy making,  Carol had knitted another baby woolly set for donation, a warm and cozy vest and matching teddy in orange yarn for some lucky little baby to take home from hospital.

 Oh dear, I went to this Sew Wots this week and forgot to take my camera and notebook with me.  Guess it's because I rushed out the door in a hurry.  Luckily Heather and Carol sent me a couple of photos later.  So there are no photos of Show and Tell this time.  I'll try and do better next time.  A shame as there were several knitted items, a pretty quilt, plus I had taken my two new oven mitts I had made for my granddaughter Megan to show.  These are now in the post winging their way ...

 Our Sew Wot Tuesday rolled around again, and rather than have us all drive way out into the country to her rural home, Helen arranged for us to meet at the LQS Fox's Cottage again.  Only five of us could make it this time.  We gathered in the class room at the back of the shop, and Helen had brought morning tea for us and to share with the shop staff - no wonder they are always so happy to see us.

 We had a Sew Wot Tuesday with a difference this week - Helen had arranged for us to meet at Fox's Cottage.  

This is such a lovely local quilt shop, and has a wonderful range of fabrics, patterns, notions and classes.  I know some of us took the opportunity for a little retail therapy while we were there.  I purchased some more pinks and greens for my daughter's big birthday quilt.

 It was my turn to be hostess this time, and I welcomed the ladies inside.  Two of our group couldn't make it this time.  The day was rather cold, wet, and miserable, but the heat pump made the room nice and cozy.  We needed the lights on too, it was a rather dim day outside.

Sandra had brought a bag of feijoas around from her tree.  Not everyone likes feijoas, but I certainly do.  How nice,  thanks so much, Sandra.

There was very little show and tell this time.  Jude had made some tiny booties ...

 Most of the Sew Wots met at Jude's home this Tuesday, with one lucky lady and her hubby away on an overseas trip.  How exciting, it's been quite some time since we have done that.  After a general catch up, and a look through some magazines looking for a good home, we got down to the always exciting show and tell.  First up was Mary, who had just finished a pair of socks - the sort of socks which let the yarn make a statement.  So pretty in pink and green.

 After missing the previous get-together because of getting Covid, it was lovely to catch up again this Tuesday.  Sandra was our hostess today.  Everyone arrived, and we settled down, chatting away.  There were magazines to look through and take home, and plenty of Show and Tell, lots of knitting to start with.  I had taken along the blue jacket I had made for baby Jack, and Helen had knitted a lovely shaded blue and brown little vest.

 Mary was the hostess for this Sew Wot Tuesday, and we met in her new to her home.  I had a slight navigational error as I hadn't been there before - I was in the right street but was confused what number her hose was so had to phone and ask.  As it happened, I was parked right outside a block of two flats, so I was almost right.  Nest time, I'll know exactly where to go.

It was so nice to meet up with the Sew Wot Ladies today, especially as I couldn't make it last time.  Heather was our "Hostess with the Mostest" today and warmly welcomed up into her home.  After we had settled down, show and tell got under way, starting with the last two items from the Doily Challenge being shown.   Late last year we were able to select a doily of our choice from Helen, and the instructions were "to make something".  Helen had made a lovely bag, using a vintage pillowcase and added the embroidered detail from the doily ...

 Yesterday was our first Sew Wot get-together of the year, and what a busy old time it was.  I was the hoste4ss and welcomed everyone to our home.  Gemma had a little look around then quietly did her own thing, away from the hustle and bustle.  There was plenty of chatter as we all caught up with each other's news, and such a lot of show and tell.  Several of our ladies had recently had entries in the  A & P Show Home Crafts category, and come away with awards.  Carol won a prize with her knitted doll, and Helen ...

We recently attended the last Probus meeting for the year, held in the local Cossie Club, followed by a wonderful catered meal.  There was a big group of about 80 members present, and the restaurant certainly did us proud with the menu.  Hot ham and chicken, plenty of veggies and salad, followed by sticky date pudding, custard and cream, with meringues and fruit salad too.

Helen was the hostess this time, she lives out in rural country surroundings, a nice little drive away.  Most of us were there, but Mary was unable to make it.  There were some older quilting magazines looking for a good home, so we looked through them and I took several home.  The rest will be donated to the Op Shop. 

As I was the birthday girl this week some lovely gifts were presented to me, how exciting!  I received fabric, fancy soaps and a pretty soap dish, hand cream and an interesting parcel with a bright green handle sticking out ...

I was the Sew Wot hostess on Tuesday and it was nice to welcome everyone here.  Jude’s birthday wasn't quite over, and she received two more gifts to open.  What was inside, I wondered?  Pretty fabric and fancy soaps, we discovered.  It’s just as nice watching the gifts being opened in anticipation from the sidelines, I think.

I received an early birthday gift from Heather, plus a pretty little hand picked posy from her garden.  Can I keep this gift till my birthday, I inquired?  Of course I could, so I will look ...

It was Sew Wot Tuesday again, this time held at Jude’s home.  And it was her birthday too, so we sat and watched at she opened several gifts.  I think we were just as excited as Jude was, to see what was in these parcels.  Soap, hand crotched face cloths, binding clips, hand cream, fabric, and goodies like chocolate fish and marshmallows, such an exciting variety of small gifts.

Sadly it’s been a while since I’ve been able to catch with with the Sew Wot Ladies, what with Robin’s various hospital appointments and his knee surgery.  But I finally made it yesterday, and it was great to catch up with everyone again.  Heather was the hostess this time, and I had two rather belated gifts to hand over, one for Sandra and another for Heather, who celebrated birthdays during my absence.

The next Sew Wot Tuesday rolled around again, and it was my turn this fortnight.  You know what that means, I had to make sure I was up bright and early, flick the duster around, vacuum the cat hair away, and make sure I had the morning tea all organized.  One of our ladies was collecting her granddaughter for a school holiday visit, but the others all made it here.  It was a chilly morning, so the heat pump was working well, keeping us warm and cozy.

These Sew Wot Tuesdays always seem to roll around very quickly.  This time we gathered at Jude’s home, just a reasonably short drive away for me.  Mind you, I still like to have guidance from the Sat Nav, just on case.  I’ve got a reputation for being navigationally challenged, you know.

It was a nice crowd, with only one of our members unable to join us today.  The fire was lit, and we sat and chatted while we organised our show and tell.  Sandra had completed a quilt top, using Jude's pattern of a pinwheel variation.  Lots ...

There were two Sew Wot birthdays to celebrate this time, Mary and Helen were the birthday girls.  I was running a little late so the gift opening was well underway by the time I arrived.  What was in those two big parcels we wondered?  So exciting to see them opened simultaneously.  Inside were plastic baskets and lids holding two big balls of yarn each.  That will keep them busy for a while.

We’ve enjoyed an extra Sew Wot get-together this week, when we joined former member Moira at her new home.  “Come of afternoon tea”, we were invited, “and bring some show and tell”.  It was a very rainy afternoon and we dodged the showers driving to Moira’s home.  All except Jude, who came without a jacket so was a little damp on arrival.

We were taken on a grand tour around Moira’s lovely new home, checked out her sewing room, then settled down to tea and biscuits.  There was a lot of catching up to do, as some ...
