Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

Sadly it’s been a while since I’ve been able to catch with with the Sew Wot Ladies, what with Robin’s various hospital appointments and his knee surgery.  But I finally made it yesterday, and it was great to catch up with everyone again.  Heather was the hostess this time, and I had two rather belated gifts to hand over, one for Sandra and another for Heather, who celebrated birthdays during my absence.

Heather was having a sewing room clear out, and had a couple of boxes for us to look through.  Most of the items found new ...

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

The next Sew Wot Tuesday rolled around again, and it was my turn this fortnight.  You know what that means, I had to make sure I was up bright and early, flick the duster around, vacuum the cat hair away, and make sure I had the morning tea all organized.  One of our ladies was collecting her granddaughter for a school holiday visit, but the others all made it here.  It was a chilly morning, so the heat pump was working well, keeping us warm and cozy.

Of course there was show and tell.  Mary is rather a whizz doing ...

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

These Sew Wot Tuesdays always seem to roll around very quickly.  This time we gathered at Jude’s home, just a reasonably short drive away for me.  Mind you, I still like to have guidance from the Sat Nav, just on case.  I’ve got a reputation for being navigationally challenged, you know.

It was a nice crowd, with only one of our members unable to join us today.  The fire was lit, and we sat and chatted while we organised our show and tell.  Sandra had completed a quilt top, using Jude's pattern of a pinwheel variation.  Lots ...

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

There were two Sew Wot birthdays to celebrate this time, Mary and Helen were the birthday girls.  I was running a little late so the gift opening was well underway by the time I arrived.  What was in those two big parcels we wondered?  So exciting to see them opened simultaneously.  Inside were plastic baskets and lids holding two big balls of yarn each.  That will keep them busy for a while.

An Extra Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

We’ve enjoyed an extra Sew Wot get-together this week, when we joined former member Moira at her new home.  “Come of afternoon tea”, we were invited, “and bring some show and tell”.  It was a very rainy afternoon and we dodged the showers driving to Moira’s home.  All except Jude, who came without a jacket so was a little damp on arrival.

We were taken on a grand tour around Moira’s lovely new home, checked out her sewing room, then settled down to tea and biscuits.  There was a lot of catching up to do, as some ...

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

It was a day out in the country for us on Tuesday.  Carol and her hubby were house sitting at Helen's home, and looking after Ruby the dog.  Ruby barked as the quilters cars arrived, she was only doing her job after all, and then quickly settled down.  Our group was a little smaller with two away, but the rest of us had a nice morning together, as always.

Down sizing the sewing stash must be in the air as there were bits and pieces for us to look through and take what we wanted.  Heather and Sandra were ...

It’s been a Busy few Days from Romany Quilting

It certainly has been busy, starting with the Coronation on Saturday.  Or in our case, living in New Zealand with the time difference, Saturday night.  The TV coverage started at the very civilized time of 7.00pm, and we settled down to watch.  With a glass of Kahlua and milk in my hand to toast the momentous occasion.  And what an occasion it was, full of pomp and ceremony as only the Brits can do.

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

Our Sew Wot Tuesday rolled around again and this time Sandra was the hostess.  The mornings are getting chilly and we were welcomed into her home with a lovely warming  fire crackling away.  There is something quite comforting with the smell of a wood fire and seeing the flames crackling away.

Sandra had some show and tell.  First up was a partially completed “quilt as you go” quilt for  her aunty who now resides in a rest-home.  Sandra used up some of her long hoarded pansy fabrics for this special gift.

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

This time, the Sew Wot ladies drove out into the country to Helen’s rural home.  Mary is still having a clean out in her sewing room, and brought along another big pile of books, magazines, and patterns.  That’s always exciting, and we all had a good look through them, and most chose some to take home.

Mary had been busy crocheting over the last few weeks, and was busy stitching the second crotchet blanket together.  These look so nice and cozy, and such pretty colours.  I don't know how to crochet, but I have seen Mary complete ...

My turn had come up on the roster to host the Sew Wots, so that meant an afternoon spent in the kitchen the day before, whipping up some tasty treats for morning tea.  We all like to make an effort when the ladies come for our two weekly get-togethers, after all we are not called the Eat-alots by one of the hubby’s for nothing!  I made an orange cake and a batch of shortbread on Monday, and some sandwiches on Tuesday morning.  Robin helped with a quick run around with the vacuum cleaner while I did some dusting, and ...

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

It was time for another Sew Wot Tuesday this week, and Jude was the hostess this time.  Carol had brought along an assortment of paper back novels which we looked through, to see if any took our fancy, and two jumped in my bag to come home.  There were several interesting items for show and tell, always a highlight of the morning.  First up was Heather, with her braid donation quilt.  This is a nice pattern, one I haven't done before.

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

Its great to be home again, and so nice to catch up with my Sew Wot friends again.  Heather got in touch to remind me that we were meeting at her home on Tuesday morning.  There were five of us there, and plenty to catch up on.

As always, Show and Tell was very inspiring.  Carol showed the bargain buy she made at one of the local OP (charity) Shops.  Two pair of brand new pillowcases with printed cross stitch designs, she will enjoy stitching these, she told us.

Sew Wot Christmas Lunch from Romany Quilting

It’s that time of the year when all the end of year functions happen.  We gathered at The Emporium for our last Sew Wot get-together of the year, our Christmas Lunch and gift swap.  The Emporium has a pretty little gift shop in front of the café, so we all had a browse around, looking for a bargain or two.

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

This week, our Sew Wot Tuesday was hosted by Helen, who lives out in the country.  I stopped off at Lewis Farms to pick up another kilo of lovely fresh asparagus.  Then on to Helen’s home.  It was a full house, with everyone able to make it, which was nice.

Carol started off the show and tell with four little baby quits she had made, to be donated to the local Plunket.  A nice grouping of little boy quilts featuring sports, frogs and turtles, dinosaurs, and pirates.

Sew Wot Tuesday and Birthday Goodies from Romany Quilting

I was the Tuesday Sew Wot Hostess this week, and the ladies kindly came armed with birthday goodies for me. My goodness, what a lot of exciting parcels to open, I was overwhelmed!   Just look at the lovely blue apron I received – everyone knows I like to wear an apron because I am a messy cook!  Other gifts were  two lovely plants to put in the garden, a piece of Christmas tartan scotty dog fabric, and a gorgeous wood trivet.  I really had to look closely at that, to try and work out how it was made –  with a router ...

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

Our Sew Wot Tuesday rolled around again, and Heather was our “hostess with the mostest”.  It was good to catch up with everyone again. Our newest member Jude had just celebrated a birthday, and she had kept her birthday date to herself.  But a couple of our ladies had wind of it, and Jude had a lovely gift or two to take home.  And I’m sure the rest of us will make a note of the birthday date for next year.

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

This time, Sew Wot Tuesday was hosted by Mary.  It was a very busy morning indeed, with plenty of Show and Tell, as well as a very special birthday celebration.  Heather had just turned (gulp) 80, my goodness, she is probably thinking, how did that happen!  There were gifts galore to open, I’m sure we all enjoyed seeing and admiring them too.  Helen made a special Birthday Cake for the birthday girl, complete with candles – and of course we all sang Happy Birthday!

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

It was wet, cold and rainy morning on Sew Wot Tuesday, but it is mid winter after all.  Sandra was our hostess, and had a warming fire glowing bright in her sitting room to welcome us.  Only four Sew Wots in attendance this time, the others were unable to make it.

Carol introduced us to Scotty McScarecrow, a rather handsome red headed Scot dressed in his kilt and tammy.  Yes, we couldn't resist a peek under that kilt, and he had a very smart pair of underpants on, guess he was feeling the cold too.  Carol declared that Scotty ...

Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

It was my turn to host the Sew Wot Ladies on Tuesday – I had missed the previous get together as I was feeling unwell with my sore head and burning throat so it was great to catch up again.  Sandra had just celebrated her birthday a few day ago, and sure enough there were even more gifts from the ladies.  It’s always nice to be remembered, and Sandra received lots of lovely items, some hand crocheted, I noticed.

Another Sew Wot Tuesday, this time at new member Jude’s lovely home.  Just a smaller number this time with two of our members unable to attend.  Helen had recently celebrated her birthday, and she was the lucky recipient of several lovely parcels, a shopping bag with a picture of a vintage machine, a lovely hand knitted scarf, and bath salts with flannel.  Very nice indeed.
