A Scrap Mixology Finish from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I am finally feeling like I am making some progress on some of the projects cluttering up my sewing room.  It is such a good feeling!

Today I am sharing another Scrap Mixology quilt using the Bloom pattern.  This block is a variation of a basket block that is uniquely laid out to create this wonderful design.

This layout is featured in the pattern.  When I released the pattern, I thought I could go without making a sample of this design, but I just kept thinking how cool it would look in these colors.  So, I finally just had to ...

Oh Scrap! : Lost Blocks? from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Another Sunday and I don't have too much to share.

I wanted to sew up a quilt top this weekend, so I put all of my Scrap Mixology Chaser blocks up on the design wall.  I thought I only had two more blocks to sew up.  I was really disappointed to see that I need 10 more.

At first I thought I had a small stack of blocks somewhere but I did dig around in my sewing room and did not see them.  So this top will just have to wait.

I did sew up some other blocks into ...

Oh Scrap! : More Block Progress from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Wildfire smoke has been so bad in my area that it is difficult to be outside much.

So that means I have been inside sewing a bit.

Hurray, I finished the last two letters I need for my quilt show booth banner.  Which is good because I am the featured quilter at the Westside Quilters Guild show in Hillsboro Oregon the first weekend in October.  If you are in the area, I hope you stop in.  I will be giving free talks on scrap management each morning.  You can read more about it on their website.

I also finished the ...

Oh Scrap! : Scraps Galore from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I almost forgot to get this week's Oh Scrap! post written.  The exterior of my house was painted this week so there was a lot of activity going on.

This weekend was spent putting back all the things I moved away from the house and making sure everything was finally watered well.

I am still working on the last eight Bloom blocks for one of my projects.  I have been busy sewing and trimming all of the required half square triangles.

I am so close to having these all completed.

Here is the current condition of my cutting space ...

Oh Scrap! : Catching up with the Blues from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

We have been having some very warm days so it has been a good time to stay in and sew.

It has been nice to get caught up on a few projects.

I have finished sewing together all of the Covered in Love blocks. That was my biggest accomplishment for the week. Now I just need to get them on the longarm and quilt them.

A few more blue Switchplate blocks were sewn.  These are made with five 1.5" x 3.5" strips.

I also finished up my blue Chaser blocks for June.

Looks like I need 14 more ...

Many hours have been spend sewing together Covered in Love Quilts...

Still working on a number of green and orphan block placemats for Meals on Wheels....

Scraps are getting cut for future blocks...

Every evening I have spent a couple hours hand quilting a vintage top...

I never did find my green squares that were misplaced so I recut more and finished the last four green blocks I needed for my May Bloom blocks.

I just need some orange blocks ...

Oh Scrap! : Finally some Progress from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I finally found some time to get caught up on a few of my scrap projects.

In fact, I even started a new one!

I finished my last green letter B for my booth banner.  This was the RSC color for May.  Now I have THREE to make in Blue for June.  Yikes!!

(One lonely switchplate block was sewn this week too.  I need to cut some yellow centers for all the green strips I cut so I will just finish them this month.)

I finally got to my little pile of previously cut squares for my Bloom Mixology blocks ...

Oh Scrap! : More Green Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 Hurray for me!

I have been dragging my feet getting the paper pieced letter S done that I needed last month in the color pink.  Well look what I finally finished this week!

I also finished the letter I in the color green for May.  I still need a letter B that I think I will make in lime greens.  Maybe I can still finish that one by the end of the month.

I also finished my Chaser blocks (with the added flip corners) for the month.

I added them to my design wall with all the other completed blocks ...

Hands2Help Finish from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It is Friday again and I have another finish to share with all of you.

Late last year, I needed to come up with some scrap quilt ideas to use up some of my low volume scraps.  I decided to pull my Two Bits pattern and start a new RSC quilt.  I would make the Churn dash variation in the RSC color and frame it in some low volume strips.

I went with the straight layout with the blocks "kissing".

It used up a lot of my scraps and for the most part, I am pretty pleased with how it ...

Oh Scrap! : Happy May! from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

The scraps have been flying this week but I don't have a lot that I am ready to share with you today.  I pulled a bunch more orphan blocks for my placemat project and have about six that just need quilting.  And I have been working on the quilts for the next Scrap Mixology Module I hope to publish next month.

I did finish the last two blocks I need for my Two Bit quilt.  Now I can start sewing up the quilt top and get it off my design wall.  I am planning for this quilt to be ...

Oh Scrap! : A Few More Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I scheduled some sewing time this weekend but with the sun shining and the scent of lilacs in the breeze, I am finding it really hard to stay indoors.

I did get three more of my RSC Two Bits Blocks done.  The quilt needed some orange blocks.  I now have just two more blocks to complete and I can finish this one up.  I am planning for this quilt to be one of my Hands2Help donations.

While I was in my orange scrap bin, I also cut a bunch of parts for my switch plate blocks. (Thanks for the name ...

Oh Scrap! : Pink Chaser Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

The weather has been so lovely here I haven't been spending too much time in my sewing room.  So I don't have a lot of blocks to share this week.

I did finish the pink blocks for one of my RSC quilts.

This quilt was started at the end of 2021 so I have 5 of the colors done so far.
These Chaser blocks are so quick and easy to make!

Next I will be working on my two pink paper-pieced letter for my company banner.  Scraps are pulled - I just need to be in the right frame ...

Oh Scrap! : Transitioning from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It is a new month so that means a new RSC color.  April is pink so I have been busy sorting out my pink scraps and organizing which of my projects need the color.

But I still needed to finish up two more of my Bloom blocks in yellow for last month.  This project requires no pink blocks so I will not need to make any blocks for this quilt in April.

After sorting my pink scraps, I did get one of my Two Bits blocks completed.  I already made a few pink blocks last year for this project so ...

Oh Scrap! : RSC Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I finally found some time this week to start sewing up my yellow scraps for my RSC blocks.  I don't really have a lot of yellow scraps so I spent a lot of time sorting my scraps into little piles that were the right size for each of my blocks.

Then I cut all the necessary bits to size.  Now I can easily sew them up!

I finished one more of my RSC Two Bit blocks.

I already have three yellow blocks from last year so just one is needed.

I also need a total of eight of my ...

Oh Scrap! : The Last RSC Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Even though February is a short month, I still finished all of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks this month. That makes me happy!

The last two blocks to finish this month were my Two Bits blocks.  I only made two because I have already made quite a few blue blocks.

This project is a holdover from last year.  It is still up on one of my design walls.  I only need to make 7 more blocks.  I had hoped I would find time to just finish it up but I keep getting distracted by other pretty things.

I would really ...

Oh Scrap! : RSC Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I finally found some time to sew some of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks for the month.

I finished up my pretty Scrap Mixology Bloom blocks in aqua/teal.
I love each and every one of these blocks I make!

I made a total of four in some darker teal scraps.  And four more in slightly lighter shades of aqua.

They are now up on my design wall with the red blocks from January.  I am looking forward to seeing this one come together!

I don't have to make any of my Scrap Mixology Chaser blocks in February because ...

Oh Scrap! : More Red Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

This week was a pretty productive one.  I worked on about 4 different projects and made some great progress.  I finished all the blocks for my UFO quilt and am busy sewing up the rows.  I made two more placemat tops that I can quilt up soon.

On the scrap front, I made four Bloom blocks in red.  This is a new project I am starting this year.

The four blocks will go together in the quilt like this.  I have had one of the medallion layouts shared in the pattern stuck in my head so I know I just ...

Oh Scrap! : Happy 2022 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I don't know about everyone else, but I am so happy to put 2021 in the rearview mirror.

Let's all have hope that this new year is a better one.

A new year also means the Rainbow Scrap Challenge starts back up again.  I read through the lines on Angela's Instagram account and figured out early that red was going to be the color for January.  So I got an early start and already have some blocks to share.

Here are my Two Bits blocks in red.  I had made some in 2021 so I didn't ...

The Best of 2021 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Every year, Cheryl over at Meadow Mist Designs, hosts her "Best of " linky party.  I have joined in the fun for quite a few years now.

I like that it makes me look back on the year and enjoy the quilts I finished.

This year was all about scrap quilts.  An early quilt I made was this blue and brown courthouse steps quilt.  I was initially thinking my sister might want it once she finishes building her new house.  But one day my neighbor came over and wanted it for her newly refurbished livingroom.  I couldn't argue - it looks ...

Oh Scrap! : RSC2022 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

With only a few more days left in 2021, I thought I had better make a final decision on what Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks I am going to make for 2022.

I am keeping it simple this year!

This one is a carryover from last year.  I still need about 11 more blocks in lots of different colors.  I was hoping to just finish it up this year but I think at this point we can agree that is not going to happen.

These blocks are used using the Two Bits Scrap Mixology pattern.

Last year I made a few ...
