February Stitching So Far from Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting

I keep meaning to post, but then things happen, and I don't post. I need to get better at posting.  Since I haven't posted in a few weeks, I have lots to show today.

First up, I've finished Clue #7 on the Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt.  Here are all the Clue #7 blocks.

In my little quilt guild this year, we are teaching the history of different quilt blocks.  We have 3 different ladies each month that teach 3 different quilt blocks.  Last month I did Churn Dash. For February I chose ...

kits for 12 blocks
I have been working on my green scrap quilt from the kits I made up for 12 blocks. I finished 3 blocks and have the triangle bits done for another 3. They are a bit tedious, but are coming out pretty.

I decided for the RSC to make 6 log-cabin blocks from my 1" strip collection in each month's color. I finished the green/January blocks this morning.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge and Other Stuff from Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting

Wow, I haven't blogged since January 4th.  I've meant to, but I've been really busy, sorry.

First, I'm making 2 different blocks for the 2024 Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  One block I designed myself after seeing a similar block in Pinterest that I couldn't find a pattern for.  I was looking for different Churn Dash blocks, to teach the quilt block history of the Churn Dash block for my little quilt guild January 8th.  Did you know that there are at least 21 different names/variations of the Churn Dash block?  I listed all 21 names ...

Snowy but still green from The Academic Quilter

Hey all! So here we are in this wintry less than wonderland, where we have been for several days now. I have to say I'm a little tired of it. Everything was closed yesterday because of the weather, and I once again had to shovel snow. Once was a fun novelty, but I'm over it now. Like, really over it.

I've been getting ready for the coming semester, which hopefully will start on Monday if all the students can manage to get to campus and move in, but I did find time to start in on my ...

20 assorted greens
I am making progress with the greens for January in the RSC24. I selected a bunch of greens from my scrap basket and have cut and kit-ed them for the blocks in the Evergreen quilt. I selected 20 fabrics from my stash, but only cut a dozen. If I finish 12 blocks and the quilt doesn't seem big enough I will make up some more blocks.

One block done!
There are a LOT of half-square-triangles in this quilt, which is not my favorite thing to sew, but if I do them in small groups it shouldn ...

Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2024 - January from Urban Quilter

Evergreen (Annette Plog, designer)

Hosted at SewScrappy, RSC24 encourages quilters to use their scraps one color at a time. Each month a new color is chosen to focus on that month. I'm not sure I will get to this every month, but I am going to jump in and see if I can fit this challenge into my sewing.

I have a ton of scraps, already sorted by color, and have been focusing on trying to use up what I have as much as possible.

The color for January is "dark and bright green." There was a quilt called ...

New year, new rainbow from The Academic Quilter

Hi everyone! How's 2024 in your corner of the world? I'll tell you about ours at the end of this post, but so far it's been a real trip. Over the holiday I did almost no sewing! Can you believe it? I just needed the break from everything so much. My brain needed a massive rest. It was lovely, and now I'm back to my regularly scheduled life. Classes don't start for a bit yet, but the getting ready is definitely in full swing.

For the rainbow scrap challenge this year I've decided on ...
