I was anxious to start another round for snails trail. I needed to cut more background muslin. I really like the go die for this block. The pieces fit so nicely together.

Everything here has stopped as we are covid positive. I did play with snail trails again before....
I went into the grocery store Friday morning, early, and, when I came out, I had a surprise. By the end of the day, we had several inches. It was pretty, but, the day before it was nearly 70 degrees.

After working on my 5 quilts, even the parts that have languished. It was time out for fun sewing. I am starting another round of snails trail. I need to cut some more, which I find meditative, and then, I get to line up the triangles which is nice and tidy, then, I have the challenge of making the colors turn which is good for mental acuity, then, I get to wind bobbins which is satisfying, then, I get to chain sew which is efficient, then, I get to iron it flat which is just like Christmas morning surprises, then ...
read moreIt is time to say - see you later- to an old friend. I am retiring this project to the the UFO closet. I have enough pieces cut, I think, but, all shirts go well together. I was hoping for 80 blocks and I have 52 finished. I need to concentrate on some "other" languishing projects to get a bit of organization and less chaos. I want to move some projects out of easy to reach areas and spread out my current projects. I keep misplacing parts and pieces and really need to clean up and assess where I am. So ...
read moreI added 2 rounds to these 6 snail trail blocks. All I have to do is open the drawer, and I want to sew more. They are so lovely to work on, and turn out so nice. I may have to stick this project in a box and send it to the UFO closet, if, I want to finish up other projects.... but, what will I do for fun?

I snuck in some sewing of blocks and pieces that are not part of my 5 quilt or rainbow quilting goals. I have a few projects with cut pieces that I like to sew every now and then for fun.

I only had a few minutes and I pulled out the snail trails blocks to add anther round. minus 1 - where did that triangle go? silly triangle
I thought I was fully loaded on my parts for the snails trail block. I needed some recreational sewing, so I started another round of blocks. I went until I ran out of 1 1/2 inch squares for the center. And, then, I ran out. hmmmm.
I made it this far and discovered another unsorted set of pieces. I wish I would quilt hiding things from myself. sigh...But, this is a start and so much fun. I like when I play with recycled shirts.
My favorite clematis is about to burst into color. We have had this for ...
read moreI have finished 10 snails trail blocks. It has taken awhile since I only sew these when I need therapeutic sewing. I have been away from the sewing machine for so long, I hoped it would help me get back into the mood. And, it did. But I seem to be busy with other priorities right now.
I knew I was going to need more projects to take for our Friday and open sews coming up in April. I decided to dig out Fair and square and see what was next for moving this project along. This has been a puzzle from the beginning
I sewed the string triangles into twosies. I joined the twosies to make blocks.
I cut a few more pieces for my snails trail and wanted to add them to the blocks I had started last week. I do like making these. this batch looks blue. I just grab a handful of shirt pieces and cut, and, can't wait to add them, so, they are whatever combo I had on hand.
I finished as many blocks as I could with the big pieces that were already cut. I was too lazy to cut more, so I started blocks over again with the smaller pieces.
What I don't understand is how pieces go rogue on a 'block on board' accuquilt die. I use a whole piece of fabric for each block - up to 4. and I end ...
I just needed a little light sewing. It's easy to pick up some of my "growing" projects and just sew. I don't have to look for anything or read the instructions or scratch my head. And my pile "grows". I sure like sewing with shirt material. It feels so nice.

I need goals and plans, but, sometimes I just need some meditation sewing. I enjoy picking up 2 pieces of fabric and sending them through the machine.

The border is underwhelming, but, it is a finished top. I used all the leftover strips that I had from the 2 1/2 inch checkerboard. This quilt used almost a whole bag of 2 1/2 inch recycled shirt strips. .checkered past is a free pattern at quilted twins.
The more I concentrate on finishes, the more I need recreational sewing in addition. I haven't been in a hurry to finish these 2 projects. They are mostly cut, and all I need to do is sit and sew. They are not part of my goals to finish them yet. Other wedding ring blocks here

I am using recycled shirts for this quilt. Anvil |
I have neglected my sewing projects lately, and I wondered if it was because I need to do a little more recreational sewing. It has to be fun or who wants to do it. Setting goals is still a great idea until it seems like work. SO, I grabbed a bit of my work in progress sewing and made a few snails trail blocks using recycled shirts. I used all the pieces I had cut. It felt good to just sew.
