What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

These blocks from the old world mystery quilt, are pieced with pieces from all the clues. Looking at them finished, I wish I had used a darker light. I guess I will know better in the finished quilt. There are some pieced blocks for the setting triangles, and then I am ready to assemble the top.

I finished the border pieces and all the corners and the sashings on the old country mystery quilt from quilted twins. I'm excited to start putting the blocks together.

They went together very nicely. The pressing instructions were helpful.

ok, yesterday was cold and rainy. Last week, it was cold and rainy every other day. I checked the forecast for this week - rain, cloudy, thunderstorms, dreary, showers. I might be getting a little tired of this. And I mean, everything this. We made a grocery run yesterday during senior hours, and there was less food than we have seen before.

We are trying to stain and seal our deck this summer, and, it may be the end of July before it will be dry enough. I did sneak a planting in between rain drops. It is too wet to ...

I started putting all the pieces and parts together for Show off quilt, and, it went very quickly. I have all the rows together. This pattern calls for 9 1/2 inch squares, and is designed by the the quilted twins. They have a large selection of free patterns. I have a large stash of recycled shirt fabric, and I keep it separate, so, it grows. It is time to use it.

Oh dear, the reveal for the old world mystery quilt is today, and, I am behind a clue. I was doing really well keeping up with the clues until, of course, the end. It is a stunning quilt. I am thrilled with it and hope my choices will be as lovely.

I need to make quilts using my large stash of recycled shirt fabrics. I am doing the old country mystery quilt through the quilted twins. They have a large selection of free patterns. I picked one, and have been cutting and sewing in preparation of making it. It takes a bit more time to work with shirts, even if the shirt has been cut for use.
There are fiddley parts of the shirt that are not even or long, but, still, have useable cotton fabric. I tend to try and use those pieces first. This pattern calls for 9 1 ...

We made strip sets and did more cutting for the old world country fantasy mystery from Quilted Twins.

We did more cutting for the old world mystery in clue 3. Some of the pieces were set aside for later.
This clue was a bit more confusing as we had no real color instructions, except, scrappy from our color palette.

Spring is slowly creeping into our area. Our tulips are in full bloom, and, the rhubarb is nearly ready to try. Last week was cold and blustery. I made some progress on my goals and that kept me busy.

Today, Quilted Twins. released clue 4 for the old world country fantasy mystery. I have finished clue 2, so, I am a little behind. But, I am still feeling confident that I can keep with the schedule. So far, the clues have not seemed overwhelming or difficult. I chose this colorway, but there is a gray and royal blue colorway as well.

This was an adventure- In all this house of fabric, I couldn't find enough brown or gold for the constants in this mystery quilt. I started looking online for any suitable fabric. I didn't see any that thrilled me. I wasn't going to risk going out. Then, Joann fabric sent a coupon for curbside pick up. hmm. It took 2 attempts, but I found what I wanted. I was very frustrated in the end, but I have the fabric. That is as far as I got.

I had stopped buying thrift store shirts. I had plenty, and was tired of cutting them apart. And, I still don't have a tried and true way to store them. If they are in boxes or plastic containers and stacked, I forget about them and forget to use them. But, I discovered a new to me blog of a quilter who uses recycled fabric and my interest was renewed. She has a lot of free patterns and I really like reading about her plans and thinking.
