Tuesday To-Do List: Finish All the Stuff I Didn't Get Done Last Week from Cheeky Cognoscenti

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!  My post for today's Long Arm Linky party got awfully long, so I thought it would be best to put my To Do's and Ta-Done's in a separate post this week.  Without further ado:

Last Week's To-Do List:

  • Stay on top of the linky party and continue to spread the word to other machine quilters.  Get the linky post written and scheduled to publish in advance.
  • Finish the three remaining in-progress blocks for my MMBB quilt before I clear off my cutting table.
  • Trim excess batting & backing from Spirit Song
  • Digitize ...

Label It! from From the Strawberry Patch...

"Brother Bear" is quilted, off the rails and trimmed for finishing. My normal order of doing things, once quilting is completed, is to print out a label and make the hanging sleeve and binding; then I place the hanging sleeve and label into position and attach them at the same time that I stitch the binding on. This was the last sheet of Printed Treasures that I have on hand. I realized a few

May One Monthly Goal from Life In Pieces

The month of May went really fast.  Hard to believe we'll be in June by Monday.  As I was contemplating what June's One Monthly Goal should be, I realized I never posted the completion of May's One Monthly Goal.

The goal for May was to get the Mosaic Mystery quilt prepped and sent out for quilting.

    Mosaic Mystery Quilt
from Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs

The top and backing were finished in April.  But both needed a final press and clean up before getting packed up for quilting.

The problem with using a dark fabric with a ...

Label Decisions from Quilt Paint Create

    Do you label your quilts?
My first quilts did not get labels. After I made a few I added labels, but I wasn’t consistent in how I did that. I know I embroidered my name on the back of one quilt. I remember muslin squares on the backs of others.
Then I realized I could program words into my sewing machine and it would stitch them out. There are several labels using that method, some with decorative stitch borders.
stitched labelLater I discovered applique and started adding applique labels that matched the theme of the quilt. I remember a pine ...

Vintage Double Wedding Ring Bed Runners Finished and Delivered! from Cheeky Cognoscenti

Remember that Double Wedding Ring UFO that I told you about back in August?  A woman had contacted our Charlotte Quilters' Guild looking for someone who could finish an in-progress Double Wedding Ring quilt that she found in her mother's attic. She had a tub of assembled circular wedding ring blocks, a small section of a handful of blocks sewn together, and lots of tiny wedge pieces cut out.  Based on the client's recollection of when her grandmother had grown too ill to sew, as well as rough dating of the fabrics in the blocks and the techniques ...

    Semper Finished! from Cat Patches

When I left you yesterday, I had several possibilities on my sewing room agenda. As it turns out, my only trip into the sewing room yesterday was to retrieve a blue spool of thread used to sew the label onto Semper Fi. It was the last thing I needed to do to call this very large quilt a finish.

Sadie helped yesterday by staying put on her window shelf while I sewed the last of the binding.

My goal was to turn the fourth corner, and then I realized only about 40 inches remained to get it into the finished ...

Week 47 of Stitching Stuff from Life In Pieces

What a week!  I didn't leave the office till after 9:30 PM on Friday. That's not normal for me, but it's just been that nuts at work.  It makes it hard to find time to stitch, even just 15 minutes, when days start looking like that.

My late evening ended my long running streak of 15 minute evenings in November.

    15 minute days/week = 6/7 days
    15 minute days/November = 22/23 days
    15 minute days/2019 = 295/327
    Success rate = 90.21%

Still my success rate for fitting in 15 minutes of stitching time ...
