Stitching Stuff: Week 51 of 2024 from Life In Pieces

This post is a bit late today, holiday prep has been the first priority and with all that was going on yesterday, I didn't even remember to get a post ready.  I did get my 15 minutes in yesterday just before bed, but just barely.

  • 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
  • 15 minute days/Dec = 21/21 days
  • 15 minute days/2024 = 356/356 days
  • Success rate = 100%

It's been a busy few days, with some early mornings and late nights. I was tempted to just let yesterday's stitching time slide, but Grad Girl was not ...

Our Girl's Weekend from Life In Pieces

My sister and I left Oklahoma for Texas on Thursday and got back home Monday night.  That left us Friday, Saturday and Sunday for lots of crafty stuff.  I found a great rental to use for our retreat.

The dining room table was big enough for 3 sewing machines. Just mine and my sister's are set up in the photo.  We were able to use the center island for cutting and pressing.  It was a very user friendly set up.

Grad Girl had stuff going on for most of Friday, so she wasn't able to take off as ...

The Second Oldest UFO from Life In Pieces

Storms rolled through overnight.  There was some impressive, rattle the windows thunder along with them. The storm didn't keep us up all night, but it wasn't the most restful night of sleep I've had.

The knee is doing so much better. But I may have pushed my luck yesterday. I spent several hours yesterday morning on sewing room organization, then pressed and de-threaded the backing for the 2023 SAHRR, so I was on my feet a lot. My knee was very thankful when I settled down at the sewing machine in the late afternoon.  The main project ...

The 2024 SAHRR Quilt Top from Life In Pieces

I don't usually post twice in one day, but today is the last day to link up with the quilt parade for the 2024 Stay At Home Round Robin over at Quilting Gail's.  The last border strip was added late yesterday afternoon. Last year I didn't finish the 2023 SAHRR quilt top till June. I'm very happy to have a finished quilt top before the end of March this year.

The prompt for border #6 was a letter or a number.  I decided to go with an hourglass block, which looks like the letter X.

My ...

2024 SAHRR: The Center from Life In Pieces

Last year was my first time participating in the Stay At Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Quilting Gail. I really enjoyed playing along and ended up with a really fun quilt for the 2023 SAHRR.

This quilt was intended to be My Guy's new TV recliner quilt.  However, Grad Girl decided that it needed to be hers.  She took the last quilt I made for My Guy, so it was time to come up with a quilt she'd like better so My Guy could keep this one.  She'd been asking for an orange and black quilt ...

Stitching Stuff: Week 2 of 2024 from Life In Pieces

We are two weeks into 2024.  January always seem to pass so much slower than December did.  Maybe it's the cold that slows us down? Most of the US has cold stuff in abundance this weekend. We don't have to be anywhere the next couple of days, so staying home and stitching is definitely our plan.  My stitching efforts for 2024 have gotten off to a good start.

  • 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
  • 15 minute days/Jan = 13/13 days
  • 15 minutedays/2024 = 13/13 days
  • Success rate = 100%

I'm curious to see how long ...

Stitching Stuff: Week 1 of 2024 from Life In Pieces

The first week of 2024 has been slow compared to the end of 2023.  That always seems to happen in January. We've all recovered from Covid. My Guy went back to work on Tuesday, Grad Girl will head back to Texas on Tuesday of this week.  So we're not quite back to status quo, but we're getting there.

In terms of stitching time, I track my time by calendar year, so last Sunday was my last tracking day for 2023.  I exceeded my goal of 75% for 2023.

  • 15 minute days in 2023 =  310/365
  • 2023 Success ...

Stitching Stuff: Week 26 of 2023 from Life In Pieces

My apologies for the really late post today.  We didn't get home till late last night and I slept in this morning.  Grad Girl is on her way back to Texas, so we're back to an empty house again.  My stitching week was an on again/off again thing. We did a lot of running around and it was hard to work in stitching time every day.

  • 15 minute days/week = 4/7 days
  • 15 minute days/July = 4/8 days
  • 15 minute days/2023 = 160/189
  • Success rate = 84.66%

July hasn't gotten off to the ...

Stitching Stuff Week 19 of 2023 from Life In Pieces

My apologies for posting so late this morning.  Grad Girl and I made a shopping trip to Houston yesterday, got back late, then stayed up even later just talking.  So I really slept in this morning.

Considering I've been traveling and visiting, my stitching time this week hasn't worked out too badly.

  • 15 minute days/week = 5/7 days
  • 15 minute days/May = 18/20 days
  • 15 minute days/2023 = 117/140 days
  • Success rate = 83.57%
Definitely not a bad week.  I brought my sewing machine to play with as Grad Girl still has to go into ...

Not Much on the Stitching Front from Life In Pieces

Happy 2nd day of Christmas. That's the way My Guy greeted me this morning.  My family does our big celebration on Christmas Eve, that allows all of us married people the opportunity to spend Christmas day with the our in-law side of the family. There's a longer story to why it works that way, but we'll leave that for another time.  We don't do a big celebration with My Guy's family since his mother passed, so we just pretty much just vegged out on Christmas Day. It was nice. I actually had the time and ...

Stitching Stuff: Week 40 of 2022 from Life In Pieces

I'm a little late posting this week.  Seasonal allergies have really taken a toll on my get up and go this week.  I went to bed early last night and slept late this morning.  Unfortunately I'll struggle on this front till we get our first freeze.  Just feeling crappy affected my stitching time this week.

  • 15 minute days/week = 4/7 days
  • 15 minute days/Oct = 10/15 days
  • 15 minute days/2022 = 150/288
  • Success rate = 52.08%
So not the best week on the stitching front. We got our flu shots this week and decided to ...
