E is For EPP

(English Paper Piecing)

English paper piecing is hand stitched.

The method is wrapping and stabilizing fabric shapes

 around thin pieces of cardstock or heavy paper. 

The fabric maybe basted to the card or secured with a water based glue stick.

 Then the edges of the shapes are stitched together with an invisible whip or ladder stitch on the back of the shapes.

 The paper or cardboard is removed when all the shapes 

are sewn into the finished design.

I leave my papers in my blocks until all my blocks are completed for my quilt.

splashing into autumn . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Hey hey!  Just checking in before we head into the weekend.  We enjoyed a lovely, beautiful day on the lake on Monday.  The weather couldn't have been more cooperative.  We're at that time of the year where sometimes the water, at 85 degrees, is warmer than the air temp!
That means we spend LOTS of time in the water (because it's too cold to come out)!  The girls had a blast splashing and swimming. Edith even decided it was her day to jump off the boat into the water, multiple times.  She was a champ!  But we ...

Two More POTC Blocks from Quarter-Inch Capers

I have two more of the Patchwork of the Crosses blocks  done and several more cut out and ready to stitch. It's a good project for watching TV.


It's definitely not a fast process, but I'm enjoying it, and that's all that matters. 

I am still working on the never-ending job of cleaning out the sewing room, and I can finally say I'm making some progress. I have put everything together that goes together and am getting it all organized. I have found more and more projects that need to be completed, and now that ...
