Sunday Stash September 8, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I’m quilting the feather design I drafted last week. So far, so good.

I’m starting to think about what I want to focus on in 2025 beyond the basic goal of “finish things”. Remember Me has turned into a long term project. I have other, even larger, UFOs that I want to finish. Like this one.

I don’t know that I have another large project in me for next year. This decision will drive the rest of what I do next year. After it rolls around my head for a couple months ...

2023 Year in Review and 2024 Plans from Quilt Paint Create

I hope everyone is having a Happy New Year and enjoying some creative time today.

I can’t say I’m sad to see 2023 go. Personally, it was one of the most difficult years in a long time. Sometimes I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around everything that happened. But life moves on.

My word for 2023 was “Listen”, and I admit early on I didn’t. Lessons learned there. My word for 2024 is “Ask”. I don’t understand why that’s my word, which means I’m starting with no expectations. That may be ...

Let’s Talk Plans 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

I don’t usually do a plans post, but I definitely have them and decided to share. I’ve enjoyed seeing other people’s plans. They help motivate me to focus on what’s important to me creatively.

For better or worse, here’s the list.

Sewing Plans:

4 original quilts

2 garments

1 charity quilt

1 UFO

Stitching Plans:

Finish stitching 2 pieces

Fully finish 3 pieces (Frame, turn into a pillow, mount, etc.)

That’s an ambitious list for me based on how much I usually finish in a year.

Projects will fit into categories based on how ...

2022: 15 Minutes to Stitch Week 6 from High Road Quilter

I told you the Aunt Daisy quilt along in a previous post. It is such a pretty quilt that I decided to join it. I chose these jazzy blue fabrics with off white backgrounds. I have to give the quilt a name so I can add a label to the blog post and have decided to call it Jazzy Blues.

I've cut the first fabric for the flying geese. I decided to use the same fabric for each component since they will be distributed throughout the quilt. I am hoping it will add another layer of design on the ...

Week 4: 15 Minutes to Stitch from High Road Quilter

It has been below freezing a lot of this week, and although I generally walk unless it is below zero, I took a break this week. We had snow and I didn't want my dog Zeus to slip and slide on the street with his hip trouble. He did not insist on walking, and was happy to spend time out in the back yard. He enjoys the cold.

This means I didn't take a lot of pictures, so I found an old one from 2009.

2022: 15 Minutes to Stitch Week 4

I had a solid week of ...

Getting over Blue Monday? from Professional Quilter

By some accounts, Blue Monday was this week.

What is Blue Monday, you ask?

It goes back to a campaign created by Dr. Cliff Arnall and Sky Travel in 2005, and it’s the third Monday in January.

It is a pseudo-scientific calculation that considers weather conditions, debt level (the difference between debt accumulated and our ability to pay), time since Christmas, time since failing your New Year’s resolutions, low motivational levels, and feeling of a need to take action.

The idea is that all of that is enough to put you in a “blue” mood. Of course, the ...

2020 Quilting Goals from High Road Quilter

Quilting Jet Girl is having a planning party, so even though I haven't even finished my goals for 2019, I am looking ahead to the next year to decide what my goals should be. I tend to do things out of order anyway, and when there are prizes involved, well, how can I resist?

1. The first goal I have is to tame the scraps. I have emptied a few scrap boxes so far this year, and I would like to continue that process next year. My end of the year goal is to have 1 (one, yes only ...

Changes... coming soon... from 13 Woodhouse Road

I have been working like crazy for the past few days! This month has been super busy! But I am seeing my months ahead get busier! And good kind of busier!

There will be a few changes here at 13 Woodhouse Road!

First, there will be a whole new site! Yay!
I finally succumbed and am building a store + website on Shopify
I'm super excited to put it all together. Last year, I designed my other website - www.shrutidandekar.com. Now I am combining both of these and putting them together on Shopify. If you click on any of ...
