Progress on Several Fronts from The Cozy Quilter

I managed to do some knitting or sewing or cross stitching every day this week!  My Gross Morne scarf is now 1 foot (31 cm) long.  I have decided to include the measurement each time I show it as it is hard to tell from the photo alone if I have made any progress.  I still have a ways to go on this project!

I made my husband and my daughter pillowcases for Christmas but ran out of time to make one for myself so I did that this week.  The two main fabrics were purchased in the East Coast ...

Pumpkin Pin Cushion from Threads On My Socks

It is only September but I got my fall fabrics out to have a play with. Pumpkins are my favorite! The bright orange & playful pumpkins make me want to make things. I only have a small piece of this fabric left & it is one of my favorites. So, I made a pair of pin cushions to display in my sewing room & they have been bringing smiles....all day!

I modified the Tilda pattern to insert a stem & added leaves. I left the top open for stuffing and it also made it easier to sew the stem & the button on the ...

and Sew Spring Begins... from Threads On My Socks

I will be sewing some things this Spring, using AdornIt Fabrics. I was sent a whole stack of these awesome small checks, the colors are very saturated and the feel is silky. A real pleasure to sew with!

To kick off my sewing this Spring, I pulled 4 choices from the stack and got my Tilda template out to make a pin cushion. A little sew like this, always gets my creativity going.
And the little bunny?...I had a clay day a few weeks ago....really want Spring to come I think...;) I made several for push pins, magnets ...

Little finishes from Granny Maud's Girl

Before Christmas, I whipped up a handful of Lola zipper pouches to give away as Christmas and birthday presents.

I started with the intention of making two pouches with some sort of bird or cat print for a colleague, but while I was digging about in my stash, I decided to make a few more. I could have kept going – they always make great gifts – but I was trying to be realistic about how many I had time to make.

Lola pouches made with bird print

I even found coordinating tassels in my stash.

Until now, I had not made the smaller size in the Lola ...

Sew Wots Christmas Lunch from Romany Quilting

It was time to meet up for our Sew Wots Christmas Lunch, enjoy a meal together and swap our hand made pincushions.  Unfortunately, I would be a little late as I had a hospital appointment to attend, and you certainly can’t turn those down, can you.  I must tell you about the unexpected compliment I received as I entered the Medical Centre.  There was an elderly gent sitting outside, waiting for a ride perhaps.  As I walked towards the door he called  – “Don’t you look lovely dressed in blue”, he said.  Oh, so sweet, his comment really made ...

Sunday Stash November 10, 2019 from Quilt Paint Create

My Guild had the workshop yesterday to finish the teacup pincushions. The project is a lot easier than it looks.
I didn’t care for the way mine turned out. Once I got it home I realized it didn’t work well for how I wanted to use it. The pincushion top does fit a small crystal bowl I’ve had for years, and that’s where it will live. The ribbon on the side was meant to tie to the cup handle. I didn’t want to cut it out and tied it in a bow instead.
pincushionThere are ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... My Small World and Squirrel! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

The leaves are falling, the temperatures are cooling down, the sweaters are finally out of storage - it's the best time of the year!  More time for quilting, too, and that means (maybe) working through some of those scraps that accumulate so fast.  And I've been working on it this week, for sure!

I have finished this month's blocks for the My Small World quilt-along - five square-in-a-square blocks, three churn dash blocks, five orange peel blocks, and five bordered square blocks.  And since I'm working on three of these at the same time, one for ...
