I haven't retreated from blogging~ although it probably seems that way. I don't know how I get so busy with things that time slips away, but I do. The weekend before last I was lucky enough to spend some of that ever-elusive time retreating with a few friends, we commandeered the craft room at a local camp, set up our sewing machines and got to work. read moreEssex Linen seemed to be the fabric of the week in my sewing room over the last few days. First, I finished the last two blocks of my Summerhill quilt and then added linen sashings and borders...the colour is called Pepper. I like the texture of the linen surrounding my blocks. I am in the process of making a pieced border from more tiny pieces of Kona solids. I'm hoping to get the final two borders on this coming week.

If you have the book, I made a pillow out of a single block featured in the quilt without additional sashing. I made the block using scraps left over from the original quilt and added in a solid green background fabric that coordinated with the prints in the collection.
I used some scrap batting and scrap white solid fabric to quilt the the block for the front of the pillow.
