Another? from Sew Sunshine

I am not sure what to call this finish. I have been emptying baggies of projects or ideas of projects that I have kept together. This week I found a bag with 2 animal blocks framed up partially with the animal print fabrics. They were left over from a kids quilt I made years....ago. I decide this would be easy to just frame up some more of the animals in the panel and ...USE...IT....UP! ha So I don't know if this is a UFO or a WIP but it is now something!

Between the front and ...

Quilt Finish: Assemble! from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've had this fabric in my collection for a while. I knew it would become quilt binding one day. This past weekend was that day. I cut my strips and made that binding. The stripes on the fabric are not straight but sort of wavy. Striped binding is one of my favorites because it is just so much fun.
Then, I attached it by machine and finished it with the machine for a quick finish. I rarely finish binding by hand any more.
Second quilt finish of 2022. It took nearly a year from start to finish. Not because ...

Vintage Sewing Machine Panel from From My Carolina Home

A friend brought this charming vintage sewing machines panel to me to quilt for her. It is called Taylor Made by Dan Morris for QT fabrics, discontinued in 2018. She wanted the whole panel quilted so then she could cut the motifs apart and make into a sewing machine cover. I almost didn’t do any pictures, but it is such a cute panel, and I have a new pantograph, so here it is.

She wanted it quilted with grey thread, and all I had was cotton in that color. Given the recent debacle with Signature thread (Pokemon Quilt Part ...

Christmas Runner in Red from From My Carolina Home

When I cut up the Christmas panel, I made three sections. The large wreath on the left was finished into a wall hanging, and you can see that process HERE. The smaller sections with the pine cones and greenery were finished into table runners. Each one was treated differently, so today, I’ll show the first runner.

Once again, I cut the sections to even numbers plus 1/2-inch. Both of the runners began at 22-1/2 inches long and 6-1/2 inches wide.

I cut the first border for it at 1-1/2 inches wide, and sewed it on ...

FMQ moose panel finished from Quilting & Learning

Hi! I want to share this UFO finish before it goes to its new home!

FMQ a lovely moose panel

I started Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) the moose panel for my brother's cottage in July of last year.

FMQ Moose panel ready for its new home

What a difference FMQ adds to the panel. Here is the image of the panel when it was barely quilted. I admit that the lighting isn't as good, but you can see that the fabric is very flat. Now that it's quilted, there is so much more texture.

Moose panel with ...

A little bit of mercy from The Academic Quilter

Hi everyone! Getting a bit of a late start this morning, but I promise there are some pretty pictures coming up. It's a lovely day here in Baltimore, and I hope it's lovely where you are, too. Our roof got a temporary patch this week, but we had some strong storms that pushed off the major work for another week, and we got a ridiculously high bid for some other work we need done. A homeowner's work is never done, is it?

I finished a quilt this week! Yahoo! A few weeks ago, I bought myself a ...

Divide and Conquer from Stitchin' Therapy

It was last year when I purchased several pre-printed panels.   I made a small wall hanging as a daily reminder to me to have a grateful heart.    It resides on the pantry door and I see it often during the day.

A couple of months later I put together another small wall hanging to use as a gift.   I used an accent color to frame the main part,  and added butterflies for an accent.
That left a larger section to divide up or use together.  I knew I wanted to add a narrow frame around the next batch and blend ...

unicorn quilt goal from Making A Lather

I have seen some great humor come out of the pandemic. It helps to laugh.

One of my one monthly goals for May, was to make headway on the unicorn quilt. I have not wanted to work on this at all. I don't have a pattern and have already demonstrated my lack of math skills in figuring the piecing. I measure, and measure, and calculate, and cut, what I need. And... it doesn't fit.
I have most of the blocks done I think. I am using a layer cake and a panel. I am using a background white ...

Sew Different from Sew Sunshine

Like many of you, I have been sewing masks.  We have so many places asking for masks that it is hard not to stop what you are doing and sew them if you can. I knew that I had enough supplies already to make a few so it was just a matter of digging through everything.
You know what happens when you dig through everything? You find things you forgot about. I didn't dig far when I came across lots of UFO projects. While mask fabric was washing I organized a few of the ufo's to see what ...

I've been hunkered down in my sewing room this weekend and forgot all about showing you more pictures of what I found at the Attic Window Quilt Shop. Above, is another adorable bag made by Marilyn.  This is a smaller version of the Poppins bag.
Check out all the pockets on the inside.
This is the fabric that Marilyn used to make the bag.  It is Poppy Meadows by Henry Glass & Co.  By the way, Marilyn will be teaching you how to make this bag on Friday, March 20th.  Call the shop to register and get a supply list ...

A couple of finishes from Stitchin' Therapy

Remember the panel quilt I started last month?

Finished with flange binding in red with black.  I thought it really set off the "stained glass" style border.
Once I washed it, the quilt softened up and got all nice and cuddly.  It is not large, only 48'' by 58'' but enough for a personal throw.

The quilted texture shows better here.  I only did a large meander in the center along with some free hand outlining of the main motifs like the barn, deer and some trees.  I added a few swirls in the sky for clouds.  The center section ...

dreaming quilts . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I've been having very vivid dreams over the last several weeks. I think partly because finally, after four or five years of shoulder pain and then surgery recovery, I'm finally able to sleep through the night, pain free!

Whatever the reason, these dreams are ones that I remember when I wake up in the morning ... even days later. Which is unusual for me!  I've dreamed up a lot of stitchery/quilty projects, too.  One of which I felt compelled to act upon!

Last Thursday, I dreamed I created a quilt designed to hold an applique ...

From panels to tops from Stitchin' Therapy

Working away and making a huge mess in the sewing room.  I will have to take a few days next week to get things back in order.

First up......from Panel to top is the seasonal throw.  The color is not good on the outer border....it is all in gray tones.  It reminds me of looking out thru a window with stained glass around it.  I have the red dot backing cut, washed and pressed.  Ready for pinning to quilt.  The binding is cut and ready to stitch together.
It may have taken a couple of design tries to ...

New month with a project from Stitchin' Therapy

I turned the calendar over to a new month and I am shocked to see how little I have to show for the last month!  I worked on a few small things but nothing to completion.  So, to remedy that I have been quietly working on a seasonal quilt.
When we went to NC for apples and upholstery fabric for the window bench for Sir Old man,  I saw so many beautiful panels there.  I will admit to being a panel or pre-printed snob over the years.  LOL.....it came back to bite me as I came home with several ...

Behind the seams of Some like it hot from Quilting with Claire

I thought I should give you a behind the seams look at my latest piece: ”Some like it hot”. It’s presently featured at the Fall International Quilt Festival in Houston in the IQA exhibit A world of Beauty. How it all started I started this project during March break.  I had sent out my Remembering Sochi … Continue reading "Behind the seams of Some like it hot"
