Then, I attached it by machine and finished it with the machine for a quick finish. I rarely finish binding by hand any more.
Second quilt finish of 2022. It took nearly a year from start to finish. Not because ... read more
A friend brought this charming vintage sewing machines panel to me to quilt for her. It is called Taylor Made by Dan Morris for QT fabrics, discontinued in 2018. She wanted the whole panel quilted so then she could cut the motifs apart and make into a sewing machine cover. I almost didn’t do any pictures, but it is such a cute panel, and I have a new pantograph, so here it is.

She wanted it quilted with grey thread, and all I had was cotton in that color. Given the recent debacle with Signature thread (Pokemon Quilt Part ...
read moreWhen I cut up the Christmas panel, I made three sections. The large wreath on the left was finished into a wall hanging, and you can see that process HERE. The smaller sections with the pine cones and greenery were finished into table runners. Each one was treated differently, so today, I’ll show the first runner.

Once again, I cut the sections to even numbers plus 1/2-inch. Both of the runners began at 22-1/2 inches long and 6-1/2 inches wide.

I cut the first border for it at 1-1/2 inches wide, and sewed it on ...

FMQ Moose panel ready for its new home |
What a difference FMQ adds to the panel. Here is the image of the panel when it was barely quilted. I admit that the lighting isn't as good, but you can see that the fabric is very flat. Now that it's quilted, there is so much more texture.

It was last year when I purchased several pre-printed panels. I made a small wall hanging as a daily reminder to me to have a grateful heart. It resides on the pantry door and I see it often during the day.
A couple of months later I put together another small wall hanging to use as a gift. I used an accent color to frame the main part, and added butterflies for an accent.
That left a larger section to divide up or use together. I knew I wanted to add a narrow frame around the next batch and blend ...
I have seen some great humor come out of the pandemic. It helps to laugh.
One of my one monthly goals for May, was to make headway on the unicorn quilt. I have not wanted to work on this at all. I don't have a pattern and have already demonstrated my lack of math skills in figuring the piecing. I measure, and measure, and calculate, and cut, what I need. And... it doesn't fit.
I have most of the blocks done I think. I am using a layer cake and a panel. I am using a background white ... read more

Remember the panel quilt I started last month?
Finished with flange binding in red with black. I thought it really set off the "stained glass" style border.
Once I washed it, the quilt softened up and got all nice and cuddly. It is not large, only 48'' by 58'' but enough for a personal throw.
The quilted texture shows better here. I only did a large meander in the center along with some free hand outlining of the main motifs like the barn, deer and some trees. I added a few swirls in the sky for clouds. The center section ... read more
Working away and making a huge mess in the sewing room. I will have to take a few days next week to get things back in order.
First up......from Panel to top is the seasonal throw. The color is not good on the outer border....it is all in gray tones. It reminds me of looking out thru a window with stained glass around it. I have the red dot backing cut, washed and pressed. Ready for pinning to quilt. The binding is cut and ready to stitch together.
It may have taken a couple of design tries to ...
I turned the calendar over to a new month and I am shocked to see how little I have to show for the last month! I worked on a few small things but nothing to completion. So, to remedy that I have been quietly working on a seasonal quilt.
When we went to NC for apples and upholstery fabric for the window bench for Sir Old man, I saw so many beautiful panels there. I will admit to being a panel or pre-printed snob over the years. LOL.....it came back to bite me as I came home with several ...
I thought I should give you a behind the seams look at my latest piece: ”Some like it hot”.
