Mosquito proofing my swing
January to March 2024
I have another finish to show, and no, I haven't whipped this up after returning home last week from our Anniversary trip. This was completed a week or so earlier. It all started with a unicorn panel looking for a new home from Sew Wot buddy Helen’s stash. Gemma thought those unicorns were well worth checking out.

So I cut the panels apart, sashed them with different fabrics from my stash, assembled the blocks and added a purple border. Then one sunny day I pinned the three layers together on the patio table outside.

read moreI just finished a new shop sample last week. The quilt has been sent off to be long arm quilted so it isn't currently hanging in the shop yet.
The pattern I used is called Diva 5. It's a great pattern for a panel and includes instructions for the three current most popular panel widths of 24", 30" and 36". I had to adjust the pattern just a tad because this panel has a printed border around the outside that I wanted to cut off, but it's very easy to adjust. All I needed to do was ...
read moreI started doing a little cleaning in my sewing room. As so often happens, I found an unfinished project. I started it thinking I would kit it up for my shop, but decided to use a different pattern to feature the panel. So everything got tossed in a corner.
Last weekend I decided to at least get the top together.
It's big for a kid quilt, 60" by 67.5". I don't know if I will quilt it myself or not, but at least the top is done. I don't have a purpose for this quilt anymore ...

Another great panel quilt with border pieced by Carole.
En zodoende ben ik gezwicht voor dit panel en wat bijpassende stoffen.
I played around with blocks in Electric Quilt until I had a couple blocks I wanted to make. I grabbed my Accuquilt Go! and 8 Inch Qube and got cutting.
As usual, it was quick work.
I assembled the pinwheel blocks first.
Then the stars.

I have been on a mission lately to find some new patterns that feature a panel. This one is a "keeper."
I don't yet have any of these patterns in stock in my shop. I only got one copy since I was not familiar with this pattern company. Lots of folks have great ideas for quilt patterns, but it is a lot harder to write a good quilt pattern than most folks realize. I am happy to report that this is a great pattern!
Here is my version of this pattern.
Unfortunately, I don't have this panel listed ...
read moreI have been searching for patterns that feature panels recently and found several that I like. This one is called Panel Squared Quilt.
I picked a panel from my shop and whipped up a sample.
It's not quilted yet, but will be soon. The binding will be the same red as the inner and outer borders. I liked it so much that I kitted up a few of these. So if you want to make one just like mine, you can!
Or if you just want the panel I have that option too.
read moreI found the CUTEST panel for an Advent calendar when I was at Sarah's in Kansas. It was a train! You guys, this panel is ADORABLE and oh so easy to put together.I first layered the panel with batting and backing. Then I free motion quilted around the motifs on the panel.Next was making the "boxes" that the advent gift would go in.Then I sewed those to the panel.I trimmed it, and machine bound

A friend brought this charming vintage sewing machines panel to me to quilt for her. It is called Taylor Made by Dan Morris for QT fabrics, discontinued in 2018. She wanted the whole panel quilted so then she could cut the motifs apart and make into a sewing machine cover. I almost didn’t do any pictures, but it is such a cute panel, and I have a new pantograph, so here it is.
She wanted it quilted with grey thread, and all I had was cotton in that color. Given the recent debacle with Signature thread (Pokemon Quilt Part ...
read moreWhen I cut up the Christmas panel, I made three sections. The large wreath on the left was finished into a wall hanging, and you can see that process HERE. The smaller sections with the pine cones and greenery were finished into table runners. Each one was treated differently, so today, I’ll show the first runner.
Once again, I cut the sections to even numbers plus 1/2-inch. Both of the runners began at 22-1/2 inches long and 6-1/2 inches wide.
I cut the first border for it at 1-1/2 inches wide, and sewed it on ...

FMQ a lovely moose panel
I started Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) the moose panel for my brother's cottage in July of last year.
FMQ Moose panel ready for its new home |
What a difference FMQ adds to the panel. Here is the image of the panel when it was barely quilted. I admit that the lighting isn't as good, but you can see that the fabric is very flat. Now that it's quilted, there is so much more texture.
