Nocturne from Quilt Obsession

I know, I know – I’ve been gone for ages. All sorts of things have been happening.

Including lots of stitching. I’ve identified a few projects that I want to try to focus on. Try being the operative word. And this is one of them – Nocturne from Millefiori Quilts 3. I had started it ages ago but then it sat. So when that project box came out, I figured out what I needed to finish it and got all the shapes printed that I’ll need. A little fussy cutting/printing was done – of course. And now I’ll ...

REBOUND from Q-BITS

In my early assocation with "Quilter's Newsletter" and "Quiltmaker" magazines, they asked me to make a couple of sister quilts -- two different quilts made using the same pattern, the same colors, but with different fabrics creating a different look.  That was 1993.  Finally in 2022, I have made their step-brother.  It's the same construction idea with different proportions, different colors and fabrics, and a different outcome.

The sister quilts were published in "Quiltmaker" magazine in the August 1993 issue.

And now ---

Straight Line Quilting on the Longarm Using Rulers! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

We promised you a beginner level straight line quilting on the longarm tutorial and here it is!

In today’s video I show you how I used rulers to create straight lines that are exactly one-inch apart and perfectly straight every time.

I know some of you may be asking why I don’t just use channel locks and there’s three reasons …

First, your leaders have to be rolled perfect straight. Mine aren’t, never have been probably never will.

Second, you have to have loaded your quilt on perfectly straight, also a high chance for human error.

Last ...

Lots of Little Blocks from Quilt Obsession

I know, I know. I vanished again. This time I had sort of a good excuse – a computer that was just not cooperating and needed to be replaced, which has now happened.

What have I been doing? Other than making more masks, I’ve been playing with lots of little blocks. These little 4″ blocks have been my focus for a while as I was determined to finish making them. And finally – it has been a very long time since I began this – the piecing of the 276 little blocks is done. Next they need to be sewn into rows ...

Nocturne from Quilt Obsession

One of the projects I started over the past year is Nocturne from Millefiori Quilts 3. I had fun going through fabrics looking for just the right one because, of course, I was going to be using the Inklingo Nocturne collection to do some fussy-cutting/printing.

This was the fabric I eventually chose.

Two project boxes are being used for this – one with just the pieces of the black background fabric.

And one with everything else plus the various threads I’m using for the project.

The blocks are quick to stitch. I surrounded four of them with the black ...

'In de troonzaal...' from Ellie's Quilt Place

EQP-Ellie's-Quiltplace-De-Potterije-Lokeren-quilt-patchwork

'Wij hebben voor jou de troonzaal gereserveerd', zei Dirk, toen ik op 7 september (jeetje, wat gaat de tijd  snel) aankwam bij De Potterije in Lokeren. Of ik het zag zitten om hier 3 dagen lang, tijdens de Open Dagen, mijn stoffen en quilts te laten zien, mijn patronen te verkopen en veel, heel veel enthousiaste quiltsters te ontmoeten. Daar kon ik maar één antwoord op geven: AB-SO-LUUT! ;o)

'We have reserved the throne hall for you', Dirk said, when I arrived September 7 (time flies!) at De Potterije in Lokeren. Was I willing to spend 3 days here, during ...
