Sewing time for ME! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Have you ever wondered what it's like to sew for a living? Well, that's not exactly true since I don't sew for a living, but I earn my keep by doing anything and everything related to sewing, quilting, teaching, and everything in between. This means that the amount of time I spend sitting at a sewing machine is minimal!

Yep, but this morning, I opted to sew instead of going to the gym (GASP). I know - but that's OK. I'll make up the gym time later. I have to do an errand today - getting my ...

Barn Star Sampler from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Sometimes, I think I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached to my body!

YES -- there is a Virtual Retreat this weekend. I'll post the links at the end of this post and tomorrow. Some scraps need to be sorted, and this will be the perfect thing to do during the retreat. I hate having the bags around on the floor, and I need to work on the project I'm using the scraps for, so this is good timing!

Sick? Yep, I can no longer deny that I'm sick, but not too ill. No fever ...

Life has gone to the dogs! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Have you ever prepped something and realized it was the wrong topic? That happened the other day. I looked at my calendar and started to prepare a presentation. Then, I checked the store schedule and discovered that I had prepped the wrong topic! ACK! So a mad scramble ensued, and I got everything done! I prepared the presentation for December, so when it's time to prep that one -- it's already done!

But as I go through my folders locating pictures and documents, it would be much easier if it was better organized. I'm part way there, but ...

Barbie quilts are done! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!! I had a great day and spent it on the phone talking to family or on Zoom chatting with friends! Oh -- and I did spend time with DH and the girls! Now, how much more could one person want?

I actually accomplished a fair amount, considering all the interruptions. I started off by quilting that Barbie quilt.

Community project quilt - DONE

I started to quilt that darn thing well over 20 years ago! I remember at the college, we had just received the equivalent of what we would call a sit-down quilting machine ...

Running on EMPTY! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was another intense day of automation in Studio B! But first, we had two Zooms (EQ8 and digital cutters), which were excellent sessions. I now have some follow-up work, and there is always paperwork, but not today, as it's Monday sewing!

This is what I worked on the day before. I started with the mySewnet embroidery software and created this. Note that I have made modifications to it since I took this picture. I dabbled in embroidery software years ago but had no idea what I was doing. Now -- do NOT attempt to take my embroidery software away ...

A well organized quilt studio! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

No quilts got bound yesterday! I swear - I had everything ready to go, and other things got in the way! How does that happen? At least I got lots done, so I was happy at the end of the day, and the number of quilts to quilt before Christmas is getting smaller every day. I hope to be done by the weekend!

I want to ensure that if there is stuff on the cutting table, I focus on that! That is how my system is supposed to work. So two quilts were sitting there that needed me to find border ...

Into the fog from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm HOME!!!!! I got home just after 11 PM, which was good considering that I didn't leave until after 6:30 PM. Everything got crammed into the car -- how do I ever travel by plane? I guess I just take a lot less stuff! But this was what I faced all the way home.

A lone foggy night

Don't worry -I was in a parking lot when I took that picture. But as the afternoon wore on, the fog rolled in, and it stayed. It's still foggy this morning. Thankfully, there wasn't too much traffic ...

A GOOD news day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Have you ever had one of those days when the stars are aligned, and everything works out exactly as you want?

That seemed to be the case yesterday. And I have to say that nothing was earth-shattering -- it was just good news all around.

It started when I got this e-mail.

While I knew this update was coming, I can now download and install the new software. The last time a new upgrade happened, I had to wait months for my turn. They don't want to overload the support team, so they stagger the updates. We paid a high ...

Computer Geek! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What has happened to me? I've been feeling a bit of a cold coming on for a couple of days. Instead of doctoring myself up and drinking lots of water and hot rum - OK, maybe not the hot rum, I let it go. How could I possibly get a cold when I haven't really seen anyone. Although one of the ladies who came to the retreat did stay home the first day because she wasn't sure she wasn't getting a cold herself.

Anyway, as the day progressed, so did my sniffles, and when I went to ...

Tidy up time! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks to a couple of US-based friends who offered to receive that Cherrywood Challenge book and forward it on. I also got a lead on another option which will have the package forwarded close to me for a wee extra fee. So I'm going to investigate that one first. Thanks, Laura!!!

Hmm -- we may have to turn the furnace on soon. It's getting a little bit chilly in the mornings. But then, when you get moving, you don't notice the cold. I really notice the cold with my hands the most.

I'm happy to report that ...

The learning curve from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Even though I technically didn't make a lot of progress yesterday, it was an amazing day. I learned so much that my brain was about to explode by the end of the day.

So I have software that runs my long arm called Quilt Path. I know how to make it work for the very BASIC stuff like Edge to Edge quilting. I downloaded the manual onto my iPad, and I guess I should read it to learn more. There are the manual, videos, and the best thing of all - there's Facebook. If for no other reason, I ...
