Out and About, Donations and a Movie from Romany Quilting

We have been out and about lately.  First we took a trip down to Kapiti to drop of a bag of donations for Foster Hope Charity.  Included in this donation were two draw string bags for the kids pencils or treasures, and two little girls aprons.

Bags and aprons

And quilts, winter is coming after all, and there is sure to be a need for these.  First were two toddlers quilts made from small printed panels – these were finished last year but I wasn't quite ready to part with them, just in case there was a need close to ...

Let Half The Day Go By from Quilting My Way

I shocked myself by sleeping till 11 am. I let the morning disappear on me! I was surprised I could sleep that long. I haven't done that since I was a teenager. lol

I wanted to get my bread in before we left today. So, I heated the oven and got moving with baking.

We took off and went to the movie. We saw the last of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It was really, really good. I enjoyed that. A couple times when they were moving - I started to move as well! My brain didn't like that ...

Not Doing Much - But Doing Something! from Quilting My Way

Today we were sleeping in. I woke around 3 am and couldn't go back to sleep till 6 am. UGH.

Got up and put the cinnamon rolls in the oven. Then played a few games. I made a cream cheese frosting that turned out really good. Even Patrick liked it and he doesn't care for cream cheese frostings. I thought the cinnamon was too strong. Love making them though.

Then we went to the Mario Movie today. I really enjoyed it. It was fun to see the different games of Mario combined in this movie. Then stopped at ...

Hello Friday from Quilting My Way

This morning we slept in. OR at least tried. The phone rang. I got up and Patrick went back to sleep.

I didn't go to moms for quilting. I just didn't want to be around that many quilters. We decided to go to the movies instead. We left around 11:30 am. Had a few stops to hit. First was the church to collect a quilt. Then off to Rite Aid. Gave Phil a big hug when I swung by his place (not far from Rite Aid). Last stop was the movie theater. We walked around the mall ...

Movie And Puzzle from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up when the sun came up. That seems to be my norm. lol

I got laundry going and played games. Then it was time to go to the movies. We saw "A Man Called Otto." It was so good!! I loved this movie! Tom Hanks is the best. He can play any part and still be good at it. I have missed very few of his movies. I just loved his part.

Came home and I wanted to work on a puzzle. I have been thinking about jigsaw puzzles for a while. I pulled out the ...

Getting Next Big Beaded Project Ready from Quilting My Way

This morning I forgot my exercises - just realized that! lol

I enjoyed staying in my PJ's and didn't shower till about 10:30/11 am. I was playing games. Then Patrick went out to get meters read and I decided to work on my beads. I want to get them ready to start on "Sophie's Fireplace" piece I did myself.

I was able to get this much done before we headed out to the "Puss and Boots" movie. It was cute. In the beginning - not so much. They really didn't do the beginning part right. The ...

MERRY CHRISTMAS! from Quilting My Way

Here is wishing all of my readers a Merry Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and all your wishes came true.

We watched "A White Christmas" on DVD. Patrick has that video and we watch it each year. Just like Katt's tradition of watching "Santa Claus." Katt picked mom up around noon and brought her back. Then we started watching "A Christmas Carol" with Patrick Stewart. We kept pausing it off and on. Patrick was cooking and we even stopped to eat supper.

When mom came over we opened more gifts. I do love having Katt ...

Class Day & A Movie from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up around 6 am and then decided to go back to sleep. lol

Mom called to say good-bye. She is on her way to Los Vegas with my brother and his wife.

Our virtual class was at 10 am this morning. Turned out pretty good. We worked on the butterfly wings and was caught up on the other things we hadn't cover before.

We found out that we were supposed to put the detached button hole around the stem stitches. I realized I was doing this wrong, so now I'm taking out what I ...

Thursday's Three Free Patterns, Halloween Talk, Sharing Quilt Backs, Special Video from Canadian Needle Nana

Autumn turned this maple tree into quite the marvel.

Now those limbs are bare. And for a short time, we will enjoy our golden leafy carpet under foot on our walks.
Someone asked...yes the Swedish BungyPump Walking poles are fabulous in my opinion. You do get a workout- I can feel my heartrate rise, and I do believe my upper body and arms are getting stronger.  I usually spend 15-20 minutes walking  with them as many days of the week as I can get in. Not affiliated in any way.

Now It's Saturday from Quilting My Way

This morning we were woken by a hawk breaking the window above my bed. Good thing it was a double pane window. Now we are going to have to get the window fixed.

I was enjoying the morning but still tired. I laid down on the couch and fell asleep. When I woke an hour later, I went back to bed. I got up after another hour of sleep. Sat down to watch TV and Patrick said we still had time to go to the movies. So, we headed out.

We watched "Ticket to Paradise" and I loved it! It ...

Getting Ready For Another Class from Quilting My Way

This morning I didn't feel like getting up. I knew I had my class introduction at 10 am and knew I had to get up. So, I got up and headed to my class.

We had 4 of us today. Plus the teacher - Debbie Goff. One of the gals couldn't make it, so Debbie was going to contact her to make sure she gets what she needs to attend. Debbie showed how to work with the wire for the wings. We decided that we would have the wings ready for our second class. We don't start for ...

An Enjoyable Day from Quilting My Way

This morning started out good and ended good. I had my class and Patrick worked outside.

My class with Debbie Goff was short. We talked about what I was able to do in my class project. She was telling me that when I get the "hair" done, then I can wash the piece. After it's washed then I can tie the hair back and trim it. I'm actually liking that idea. I showed her were I was on my project and then we chatted about tomorrow's meeting. We start the next class tomorrow with a get together ...

Thursday's Three Free, September 20th Design Wall, Christmas Movie Favourite, Rare Bird from Canadian Needle Nana

Design Wall September 20.  The Wheel Within a Wheel blocks are each labour intensive I'm finding...so many bits and bobs to each one and most of it sewn by hand. Though I've lagged recently while getting Karnak finished for a gift, I'm still liking this.

See the bit of Kaffe fabric on the bottom...it is Roman Glass and I heard him say in a video interview that this was their best selling pattern of all time. Kind of surprised me as it is brown but he said people thought it blended well. Update...folks are ...

The Weekend that Was from Romany Quilting

Last weekend was spent away in the caravan at a rally, and the weather was wet, wet, wet, with just a few fine spells in the mix.  But the ground was sodden, my shoes were covered in mud, guess I should buy myself a pair of gumboots, otherwise known as Wellington boots for those who don't know what I’m talking about.    No wind though, so that was a blessing.  We didn't go too far, just up the coast to Foxton Beach.  Gemma came along too, of course.  No dogs are allowed in this camp, I'm not ...

Went To The Movies - And Walked OUT from Quilting My Way

This morning I was just enjoying playing games. Then we decided to go to the Brad Pitt movie that was at the theater at 12:30 pm.

We arrived, paid, and got popcorn and a drink. Went into the theater and waited. When the trailers came on, they were showing horror movies that are coming out. I had to look away so many times! It was awful. I like movies that don't show them cutting heads off or blood guessing! (sp) I like to be entertained not horrified! Not my kind of movies. Once that was over, the movie ...

We’ve been keeping busy from Romany Quilting

Life is certainly busy when you are retired.  In between dealing with my sore throat, it’s almost better, thank goodness, we had a few things to do.  First we had our second Covid booster shot.  With an appointment booking system, it was very quick, call in to the provider, register, answer a few questions, go and get the jab, then sit and wait for the required 15 minutes to make sure there were no complications.  And we never felt the needle at all, the practitioner was so gentle.

Went To The Movies from Quilting My Way

This morning we decided to go to the movies and watch "Thor." It was pretty good. Just a little sillier than I would have liked. Almost slap stick at times. I did like it.

We stopped at Safeway on the way home.

Got home and Patrick decided to work out in the garden. I worked on my speech for Monday. I had a lot of thinking to do. Then I decided to play a few games. I need to get 2 of them down by the next couple days.

Once I was done with all that and supper was over ...

Still In A Slump But Doing Fine from Quilting My Way

This morning we talked about going to the movies. I thought that would we fun. So, around noon we headed to the theater and saw "Buzz Lightyear." I love animated movies and that was a good pick me up. I really enjoyed the movie but did miss Buzz Lightyear's voice. This time it was the "Capt America's" voice. I liked Tim Allen better. I did get used to it and really got into the movie. Well worth seeing.

Came back home and I played games. Then I worked on supper. Patrick is working on an excel program to ...

Plans That Don't Happen from Quilting My Way

This morning I was watching the news when Patrick said we needed to leave around 12:15 to get to the movies. I really wasn't in the mood, but I decided to go. I said "Downton Abby: New Era." I really liked the movie. It's worth seeing. I would see it again. AND I don't say that very often.

Came home after stopping to see Phil. Patrick got some plants from him. Then we went to Safeway to pick up a few things.

I then worked on my sourdough bread. Had to get that cooking. While I ...

Not Sure If I'm Back Or Not from Quilting My Way

This morning Patrick was up before me. He was getting ready to go golfing. After he left, I enjoyed the time to myself. Like normal, I enjoyed my games. I decided I hadn't been out in awhile, so I went to Burger King. Decided on a Whopper Jr. Funny thing is that they have gotten a lot smaller than I remember - good thing though. I actually felt full after I ate that. It was good!

Then I decided it was time to go work on my beading. Had to pull everything out and set up. Once I did that ...
