The Last Two Step from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I was really getting bored with the Two Step quilts so I decided to just get them all sewn up and finished. I knew these quilts were all going to look very similar and was concerned how quickly I would lose interest. But I stuck to it until the end of the pile!

Last Weeks' Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Completions have been kind of slow the last few weeks. A few of my longarm quilters are taking breaks and plan on hitting it hard after the first of the year.

I need to get out there and find a few more volunteers!

First up is this fun monster truck themed quilt. This is one of the quilt tops sent in by Kristin. The big plaid flannel on the back was sent in by Janet.

Oh Scrap! : Found Squares from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been trying to organize some of the scraps that are donated to Many Hands and Many Hearts. Right now they are just in bags and in big tubs. They are never going to get used if they continue to be stored this way.

As I was going thru some bags, I found some 4.5" squares that were already cut to size. I decided to use some of my solid scraps to cut some 1.5" x 4.5" strips to sew on one side. I have been sewing them as a leader/ender all this week.

Jewel Box Quilt and More from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I finally found some time to start working with the Jewel Box blocks from the current block drive.

This is the first quilt top I have put together but technically this is quilt fourth quilt from the drive because I had three quilt tops sent in and they are all already finished.

The inspiration for the colors in this quilt came from this backing fabric that Nann sent me a long time ago. We are going to use this method of choosing colors for a few more backing fabrics that have been languishing around here too long.

If you have been following this blog for any amount of time, you know I try and use every bit of scraps that I can. I just can't help myself!

Right now, I am filling the quilt pipeline with lots of quilts for kids. I am also trying to get flannel, fleece, corduroy or minky on the backs of most of them. Many Hands and Many Hearts make large seasonal donations to Bags of Love and they occur through the last three months of the year.

This lovely quilt top is one that Linda (and her mom Margie) donated quite a while ago. The longarm quilter I was sending their quilts to kept having emergencies. So now they are going to Laura - who does a beautiful job on them.

Needless to say, it was a really good day!

I am still working through my flannel scraps.

I didn't think I had that much but I keep making quilts!

For this little cutie, I pulled all the pink flannel scraps I had. I didn't have a lot of the animal fabric so I just used those as the quilt highlight.

It is finally feeling like fall around here. I think all of our Two Steps blocks are made into quilt tops. Now I just need to get them quilted and shared. We just might get these done before winter comes along!

I have been pushing a number of baby quilts through the pipeline to increase the number of quilts we are able to donate to Bags of Love. I will be delivering 25 quilts tomorrow.

This first quilt top was made by Penny. She has been cleaning out her flannel stash and making a bunch of strip quilts. This type of quilts uses up a lot of those width of fabric leftovers. She also sent the backing and the binding.

Oh Scrap! : Some New Volunteers from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been lazy over the last 6 month and have been tossing all of my scraps in a pile in the corner. Now I have a mess to contend with. I did spend a bit of time this week working through that pile and getting them into their color bins. As I sorted, I kept out any large pieces that I was able to cut a 4.5" square out of.
