What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

 I'm chuckling after reading the comments! First -- Jackie - 100%. Keep those three main areas clear - the cutting table, the ironing surface, and the sewing worktable. The rest of the place? Who cares! Well, it should be somewhat neat and tidy, whether that is in bins, on a table, or whatever. If you don't have room to work, you won't want to work! OH MY!!!!! I forgot that I had mentioned a Virtual Retreat to some people this weekend. I totally forgot to post the links the past couple of days, or even to mention it! I would remember when I was out walking the dogs, and then poof! I totally forgot to add it to the blog post when I got back home. 

I'll be away the next two weekends, so those dates won't work.

I'm not sure what it is about my scheduling, but I always seem to be getting to the long arm later in the afternoon, rather than early in the afternoon as I originally planned. Why is that? It doesn't matter; another quilt got done! I'm usually finished with the sewing/quilting day by 7:00 or 7:30 PM. Good grief - I'm a morning person!

Today is an important day in history, and for those who are too young to remember (I'm in that category), we need to take a moment today (and every day) and thank those who fought for our freedom. 

And NO to the silly people who always want Remembrance Day on a Monday so they can have a three-day weekend. We are fortunate in Canada that we've not had any major wars on our shores. Where are the days going? Yikes-- before we know it, the end of the year will be here. I'm not ready! 

I spotted this on Facebook yesterday, and I thought it was so appropriate for us sewists. This is what happens to me. 

It's all the prep work that takes so much time, and the actual sewing is just a small part of it. 

I have sewn part of the sixth binding onto one of the dog quilts. It was the black one, and I knew I would need more strips, but how many? So I sewed what ...

And????? Do you think I made it? I did!! The eighth dog quilt is quilted! However, I finished it this morning - too heck if it wakes up the family! I had a lot of interruptions yesterday afternoon, and I was too tired to stand at the machine last night. So it's done, but it's still on the long arm. I'll take it off once the girls have their walk. Oops -- girls and the boy!

I took my SIL with me on my trip to the Kawartha Quiltmaker Guild! She said she got to learn a lot about quilting, and a lot about me! We had a great conversation, the driving went by in a flash, and the weather was decent!

However, a great deal of fun was had at the guild meeting. What a wonderful group of ladies, and there were a lot of them! They will be hosting their quilt show on May 8-9, 2026, so be sure to put that on your calendar! I'm sure with the talent we saw in ...

Good grief! How much more grief can those dog quilts give me? Everything was going just great - the backing for the seventh dog quilt had one seam. That was easy. The top was done, and the three pieces for the batting were on the ironing board. 

The other quilt was loaded, and I started it in plenty of time, but alas, it was not to be. 

While I'd like to blame this one on the machine, I can really only blame myself. Why? Because I need to change those leaders.

 And just like that -- it's a new week. So many ideas and so little time, but the important thing is just to do! 

Speaking of batting bits, it's amazing how many quilts you can quilt with those bits! I've pulled a few pieces from that stack I brought downstairs, and it doesn't seem to have made a dent. I calculate there is enough batting here for about 20 quilts! That should cover the remainder of my dog quilts, and the ten for the favour, and a couple more! This is the last favor job I do ...

It was a bit of a train wreck day, but I still managed to get three things done! Remember, I mentioned I had the shingles shot the previous day? Well, about dinner time yesterday, it hit me, although my arm had been sore for most of the day. It didn't help that I had done a lot of upper arm work with Brooke, and I could feel that in my arms as well. 

I had a slight fever, accompanied by a chill, and I was exhausted. I went to bed with a hot Magic Bag and fell into a ...

 OH MY GOSH --- someone else calls that fabric FORTREL!!!! They must be from the west, but what a great idea to make quilts for the homeless. That fabric cannot be destroyed. And now I have two boxes to deal with! But at least I know what to do with it!

That feels better—I was off bright and early to meet with Brooke. My legs have been so tired since my last trip, but after my stretching and compression pants, they feel so much better! 

Well, I am loving this relaxed schedule and certainly want to take advantage of it for as long as I can! I have two trips, a quilt retreat, and one guild lecture to round out the last two months of the year, so that should be pretty easy. It's giving me lots of time to tackle those current project tables, but as we all ...

Thanks, everyone, for the fantastic comments! I MUST get back to responding to them. As for the floss, I did have a Waterpik at one point, which I don't think I ever used! BUT I understand the concept of it - I'll look into it. In the meantime, I flossed twice yesterday! And brushed once. It's a start! And yes -- I know that all that bacteria is not healthy for my insides! I'm trying! If I get a Waterpik, can I bypass going to the dentist? OK - just thought I'd try!

Good grief --- I dreamt about being somewhere and trying to help someone thread a serger! Just as I was about to find out why the thread was breaking, the alarm went off! At least it was a logical (for me), non-emotional dream, but why am I remembering them so often these days?

Your comments make me chuckle. I'm not the only one who wakes up angry from a dream! Although lately, no dreams. I'm not sure what those couple of nights were all about!

The masses have spoken. There will be NO new sew-along until Colour My World is done! Let's not get ourselves into any kind of mess! Thanks for making me see the light of day! I do NOT need to start another project. And by September of next year, there might be something else we want to sew! 

When I attempted to use ChatGPT to compile those documents from the QUILTsocial website, it didn't work. Someone mentioned that ChatGPT wasn't really meant to scrape data from websites. It creates things, but it doesn't do the dirty work ...

I see there are some new recommendations for books! I may have to give up sewing to get through them all! As much as I love to read, I could never read all day, as that just wouldn't work for me. Variety is the spice of life! So reading and sewing!

I'm not sure what is going through my head at night, but I had another dream. This one was totally different from the other night, and equally bizarre. 

M and I were travelling somewhere by plane. For whatever reason, I had all the carry-on luggage, which was a lot. The way we got boarding passes was bizarre. Anyway, we got separated at the airport, and my phone wasn't working. I didn't have any chargers with me, and I had no way to get in touch with her. But guess who I saw at the airport? OK -- I'm up for trying new things. And there was something that I have wanted to do for a long time, and last night, I decided it was a perfect job for AI. However, I'm sad to report that the job it did was dismal. A total failure, and it was an easy job.
