Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

I dyed this Bare Stroll Fingering a few years ago. The basic idea is a gradient that runs through several colors, each color run becoming longer than the last. This should make the colors balanced in something like a shawl or poncho. I decided it was time to get started. I came across this Simple Poncho pattern on Ravelry and it inspired me to get stitching. I would tell you I used the pattern, but I didn't get to through the foundation chain before I changed something.
Still a simple design to start with if you want to use ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I was looking at a pair of socks I knit using Regia Pairfect and decided to try a similar effect. These were made using three different yarns. Knit Picks Stroll Tweed for the cuff, heel, toe, and foot. The striping yarn is Knit Picks Felici Sock Yarn. The third yarn is Knit Picks Bare Stroll Fingering that I dyed a couple years ago. I really enjoy using Knit Picks yarn and the price point is somewhere between inexpensive and hand-dyed. Give them a try if you are looking for something like this. Overall, this experiment was a success. I'm ...

Monster Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Since last week I have accomplished exactly one thing. I made this pair of socks. Four different yarns (two solids and three self-striping) were used to make these Monster Socks. That is it. I guess I've been taking time to do other things. What have you been up to?

Early Mid-Winter Surprise from Becca's Crazy Projects

For mid-winter my friends sent me a gift certificate for Knit Picks. Since it came in time to meet the Black Friday sale I used it right away. Yesterday, that box of wonder landed on my front porch.
I bought the current colors of Felici in fingering weight. Because I love mixing up this self-striping yarn with other self-striping yarn and Stroll solids (which I also bought). I love how they rotate through the colors, always offering something new. You could buy new colors several times a year and have more socks than you would need in a rainbow of ...

Crochet Hexagons from Becca's Crazy Projects

I wanted to share the hexagon project progress. I've added more to my pile of finished hexies. These really are great as a carry-along project. They work rather quickly.
Here are the finished hexagons. I have many more to make before I join them together into a blanket. At least the weather is changing so I won't feel smothered under a partially constructed blanket.

Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm still working on my crochet hexagons.
I've been reading. This was when I was finishing the Wheel of Time (affiliate link) series. I'm so excited about the Prime series that's coming out next month.
I went looking through my notebooks and found the delightful little sea creature hiding in the pages. Sometimes I'm surprised by my own creations.

Knitting Rainbows from Becca's Crazy Projects

I finally finished my little poncho. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Maybe after I mend in the ends and block it I will.

Yarn is sport weight from Freia Fine Handpaint Yarns.

Knitting Project from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm still knitting on this... well, I'm not entirely sure what it will be. In the end, I hope it will keep a human warm and have some great color.

Sometimes you just knit from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm not entirely sure how this one will turn out. I started with a narrow crescent. No pattern, just an idea and a need to knit. Nothing but knit stitches.
Then joined in the round. I'm using two cakes of sport weight from Freia Fine Handpaint Yarns. My hope is to end up with a small poncho. I think it more likely I will end up with a cowl. I'm going to soldier on in any case. I love watching ombre yarns change colors.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

So much yarn, so little time. Somehow I had two 50 gram balls of Felici in this colorway.
Sometimes I make socks that match. I considered making the toes in black. Then I realized my eyes aren't as young as they used to be. I didn't wan to struggle through closing up the toes on black yarn. So, these got this amazing pink. I think they turned out quite nicely.

I cranked out these simple socks last week. Such a simple pair. Socks don't always have to be fancy.

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

This yellow is so much brighter than it looks here. A real sunshine!
This is the latest crop of hexagons. I combine colors when I don't have enough of a single color to make the hexagon. I am hoping this will make the finished blanket more interesting. And, I won't have a bunch of short pieces of yarn leftover.

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

A friend gave me some Brava Worsted and I wasn't sure I would like it. It is a 100% acrylic yarn. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a great yarn to work with if you need something that is machine washable and wool just won't do.
I've decided to make as many 6" hexagons as I can and stitch them together into a blanket.
The pile of hexagons isn't very big, yet. These are great because I can make one in the evening after dinner and I feel like I have accomplished something. Do you have ...

The May 2021 Knitterly Things sock yarn club yarn is Cheerful.
I really like these bright colors.
Such a fun self-striping yarn.
All that remains is to close up the toes and they will be ready for when the cold weather returns.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

The June 2021 Knitterly Things sock yarn club yarn is Collide.
This time the coordinating mini has speckles. Such a a fun surprise.
I so enjoy a self-striping yarn! All that's left is to close up those toes. I surprised myself by getting them to match.

For those of you keeping track (that number is likely zero) I missed Wednesday this week. That's the first missed post in a long time.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've had these little cakes waiting to become socks for entirely too long. I decided it was time to get cranking. Yarn is Knit Picks Stroll Gradient Duos. It looks like they no longer offer these with two small (50 gram) cakes. You can buy their larger Stroll Gradient in 100 gram cakes.
I decided to make the heels contrast my using the center of the ball for the contrast heel. The last pair I made I cranked right through and I wasn't as happy with the result. You can check out that pair in this post from ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Even though it is summer here I keep making socks.
This is the toe on another pair of monster socks. Machine-knit socks use a simple short-row heel and toe.
Every once in a while I get a comment on my sock photos asking why the toes are open, or how someone is supposed to wear these. The simple answer is that these aren't finished.
The next step is where I pick up the live stitches onto two short circular needles and remove the waste yarn. This is very similar to how commercially made socks are finished. Just look at ...
