Vintage Venture from Jo's Country Junction

On Friday Kalissa had a doctor’s appointment in Waterloo.  She had worked an overnight shift the night before so I offered to drive her to the appointment.  I hate for her to drive after working the overnight shift especially if it’s a long trip which it is if we go to Waterloo.  I told her […]

Odds and Ends Jobs from Jo's Country Junction

Over the weekend I did a few odds and ends jobs.  Nothing huge but I’m trying to keep up and not let things lag to far behind.

I grabbed another previous stitched piece and I framed it in a thrift store frame.  This one was $1.

This is a Lizzie Kate design I stitched some time ago…I believe when Kramer was sick.  I wasn’t brave enough to change colors back then and now, it certainly would have.  That fushia color would have been changed to red.  So I wanted to prim it up a bit so the ...

Saying Goodbye To 2021 from Thistle and Thicket Studio

The holidays are always rushed and I never seem to have time to do everything I want to do. This year was no different. I didn't have time to do as much decorating as I wanted to or as much baking (although the hubby and I don't need the extra calories) or as much holiday crafting. One thing that was not on my list this year was buying Christmas presents as we decided to opt for a family vacation the week of Thanksgiving in lieu of gifts (except for the grandkids). Because our kids spent their Thanksgiving with ...

Miscellany from Thistle and Thicket Studio

Just popping in to update on things in the Thistle Thicket Studio lately. It's been hard to find the my mojo but I have been working on my Moda Block Heads 3 quilt. I finally finished all of the 56 MBH3 blocks and made an additional 8 blocks from MBH2. All 6". What was I thinking!!! I swore after making the Farmer's Wife quilt that I would never make 6" blocks again. But don't they look so cute all laid out on my 'design floor'?

Tackling Projects from Jo's Country Junction

When Covid first hit I made a long list of projects I wanted to get to while I was off of work.  The list was LONG.  But…I was off for about two days and then I jumped into mask making.  Oh my.  I seriously made masks for about a month straight and my list languished.

I’m still off work.  My doctor still doesn’t like the idea of me going back to work as I’m still high-risk with my thyroid cancer return so…I’m doing the best I can do and trying to make things work ...

Road Trippin' Finds from Thistle and Thicket Studio

This past week, my mom and I hit the road to travel to Texas for my grandsons' birthday party. Of course, any road trip includes a few quilt shops and antique stores, but the bonus this year was attending QuiltCon in Austin one day. Today, I'm sharing a few of my finds from our trip - from sewing notions to vintage Christmas decorations to china.

Necchi Toy Sewing Machine and Green Handle Iron on Thistle Thicket Studio. www.thistlethicketstudio.com
My favorite finds are the Necchi toy sewing machine (#21 in my collection) and matching green handled iron. Of course, I just love the vintage green color and they fit perfectly in this display in ...
