scrap star from Making A Lather

One of my quilts for the rainbow scrap challenge was the scraptastic star. I started it in march of 2019

It seems like I have been waiting for most of the year for the color yellow to finish the last block for scraptastic star. I had all the other colors done for awhile. that makes 12 blocks

I am still catching up with the country roads blocks, using colors that are interesting that I haven't used in past months.

I did a little black Friday shopping at Joann fabrics. I bought a few flannel pieces big enough to use ...

project box from Making A Lather

I opened another project box thinking it would be an easy decision. This quilt kit was a Joann fabrics block of the month called peaceful paisley from 2013. It was not an easy decision. All the Joann kits come with precut pieces and instructions. I like that, sometimes, as an easy piecing project when other projects become stressful. I found a complete set, and the setting kit, and the precut binding in the box. But, I also found several other block kits.

What I think I did, was use coupons to buy the original set, and, then, I bought odd ...

Bubble Gauze Summer Dress from Tea Rose Home

I bought this striped bubble gauze at Joann Fabric a while ago at 40% off. I knew I wanted to make a summer dress, but didn't have any specific design in mind at the time. Now I am doing my own "Sew my stash challenge" and I have been Looking at the fabric really trying to see what it could be. Then an inspiration came to me... I wanted to sew a dress you might find at a brand like Madewell. I had a french sleeve top pattern I created years ago, so I decided to modify that pattern ...

countryside cottage finish from Making A Lather

This is a 2004 Joann block of the month that I have had for some time. I needed to finish it. The colors are rich and lovely. I have a couple in mind that I want to gift this. It is queen size. I have many joann quilts block of the months that I bought each year. I was so excited when I found them. The fabric was included and precut. The instructions had cute little hints that were actually helpful. I bought them each year, and then they have waited in a project box. Some I haven't even ...

June goals from Making A Lather

I like the beginning of a month, and a chance to set goals and see them finish.... or just progress. I am not overwhelmed with a month. It is a good time period for me to focus and then, let go if I need to move on to something else.

It's time to finish my double wedding ring. It looks sad here. It has been neglected. I think I have 3 sections to join together and then, the top is done.

I want to quilt a joann block of  the month called countryside cottage. The top and back are ...

stash report Feb 2, 2020 from Making A Lather

I am thinking I will do a stash report monthly instead of weekly.
Every time I try to use a coupon at Joann fabrics, I don't find anything not on sale, but, I come home with remnants. My rule for remnants is that the fabric has to be on sale in the first place, so that it is half off the sale price for the remnant. The better the sale on the fabric, the more tempting the remnant. My favorite thread was on sale, too. I really like the coats and clarks for paper piecing. It is 50 weight ...

goodwill treasures from Making A Lather

On a recent visit to goodwill, I discovered this small quilt. I was intrigued. It was hand pieced, but definitely not old. The background was muslin, and appeared to have been washed. I have a hard time leaving these kind of partial quilts, knowing they could be used as a donation quilt. Most of the work is done.

I also found this little bit of quilt that was started but not finished. There was a lot of work in this. It is a reminder to me that I should work at finishing before I dislike something. My time and effort ...
