Island Batik Ambassador EPP Challenge featuring Sunset Tree from Curlicue Creations

This is my last Island Batik Ambassador project for 2021.  I've been working on this quilt since February.  It has over 1500 hexagons, all made from my Island Batik scraps.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.
The challenge for December was to make an EPP (English Paper Piecing) project using any of our Island Batik fabrics.  The requirement also stated that our projects could be as small as 12" x 12".

I adore English Paper Piecing.  I usually have a project or two going on at a ...

This is the front of the bag.  I used the Autumn Wings fabric collection by Island Batik.  Aren't the butterflies beautiful?  I love the colors in this collection.  These ...

Divide and Conquer progress from Curlicue Creations

Do you remember my small Divide and Conquer bag I made for the Island Batik ByAnnie.com challenge?  I'm sure I mentioned that I'm also making this in the large size.  It had to go on the back burner for a while so I could finish up a few other projects, but I had some time to work on it one day this week.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.

This is one of the side strips for the bag.  You can see the the beautiful ...

Storm at Sea Island Batik Blog Hop from Curlicue Creations

Hello!  Welcome to my day on the Island Batik Ambassador Storm at Sea blog hop.  This is my Storm at Sea quilt, made with the new Petal Pathway fabric collection by Kathy Engle.  My quilt is still a top, as it took a lot longer to piece together than I had planned.  I wasn't even sure I liked it until I took this photo.  Sometimes it's hard to see how a quilt is coming out while you're working on it up close.

Disclosure:  The products used to make this project were generously provided by Island Batik, Aurifil ...

Island Batik Precuts from Curlicue Creations

Do you remember waaaay back in July when I showed the unboxing video for my Island Batik Ambassador box #2?  I mentioned that the precuts would be coming at a later date.  They actually came a while ago and I posted them to Facebook and Instagram, but I totally forgot to write a blog post about them!  Here they are.

I received a strip pack of Sticks N Stones, plus a coordinating light fabric and a coordinating dark fabric.  Isn't this collection just wonderful?  This should be in local quilt shops now.

I also received a Bellingham Bay 10 ...

Hexagon Project Update from Curlicue Creations

This project has come a long way since my last update!  I'll bet you can see what it is now.  It's nearing the finish of the hexie piecing.  I may have to stop and make a few more black hexagons.  I'm almost out of them.  It's exciting to see it coming together.

Meet the Cross River Gorilla, an Endangered Species challenge quilt made with Island Batik Fabric and Aurifil Thread.

This month the Island Batik Ambassadors were each assigned an endangered species to coordinate with the new Aurifil thread sets shown above.  I received the Cross River Gorilla with three beautiful shades of purple, a light, a medium, and a dark.  I did some research on the Cross River Gorilla and learned a few things about them.

Divide and Conquer ByAnnie Bag Challenge from Curlicue Creations

Pshew!  Here I am posting about my byAnnie bag on the last day of September.  I just barely finished this morning.  I've had so many things pulling me away from sewing time in the last month.  I'm actually making two bags, this is the smaller size.  The large sized bag is about 3/4 of the way done at this time.  I'll show it on another post when it's complete.

Disclosure:  The products used to make this bag were given to me by Island Batik, ByAnnie.com, Aurifil Thread, and Schmetz Needles.

New Quilt and Pattern Alert!  This is my Mill House Spring quilt in the beautiful new Flutterfly fabric collection by Island Batik.

This pattern includes a quick and accurate method for making the hourglass units featured in this quilt.

The gold and green borders frame the bright hourglass blocks perfectly.

This sweet quilt finishes at 41" x 49".  It's a great size for a baby gift or to brighten up a wall in your home.

I quilted Mill House Spring with Hobbs Heirloom Cotton batting and a rainbow variegated thread in a fun loopy meander design.

Gnomes All Around Quilt from Curlicue Creations

Let me introduce you to these four little guys:  Gnomes All Around.

This quilt and pattern is featured in the new Annie's Quilting book, Quilted Gnomes for your Home.  If you love Gnomes, this book is for you.  There is a variety of projects and each one is cuter than the last.  Most of them look quick to make, too.  I have an extra copy of this book to give away at the end of this post for one lucky reader.

I designed and made four of the Gnome blocks for my quilt.  The blocks are partly paper pieced ...

Hello!  Welcome to my little corner of the Island Batik Try a Tool blog hop.  This is what I made, the Orchid table runner.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.

For this blog hop, I was pleased to use this glorious new fabric collection, Fancy Feathers, by Kathy Engle, for Island Batik.  I love all colors, but purples are my favorite.  This collection sings to my heart.
If you love it as much as I do, these should be in your local quilt shop now.  Also, I will ...

Never Too Early featuring the Jolly Holiday Christmas Tree Skirt from Curlicue Creations

The Island Batik Ambassador July challenge was to make a holiday themed project.  I chose to make a Christmas tree skirt, as I've never had one.  My poor tree has been wrapped in a red and green plaid table cloth all these years.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.
I designed my Christmas tree skirt in EQ8.  I was surprised at how easy and fun it was to make this project.

I used the new Holly Holiday by Kathy Engle fabric collection.  I really love the gold ...

Double Irish Chain Scrap Quilt ~ A Beginning from Curlicue Creations

I've had this Black Pearl strip pack by Island Batik for a while, and I finally broke it open to make a new Double Irish Chain Scrap quilt.  I love these fabrics so much, and sometimes when I feel that way it's harder to choose a project.  It's like I don't want to use it up, I just want to enjoy looking at it for a while.

Disclaimer:  This fabric was given to me by Island Batik at no cost to me.

Spread Love and Joy featuring Morning Star from Curlicue Creations

Meet Morning Star.  This is my Island Batik Ambassador challenge project for June.

This month's theme is Spread Love and Joy with Accuquilt.  The guidelines are to create a gift of comfort, using the Accuquilt die we received in our first ambassador box of the year combined with designs from the 8" Qube dies.

Note:  The materials used to create this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners Accuquilt, Aurifil, Hobbs, and Schmetz.

I was super excited to receive the Morning Star die.  It's fabulous!  It looks a little intimidating with all those triangles ...

Sparrow's Compass Quilt Top from Curlicue Creations

I rewrote one of my patterns this week and decided to make a test sample in an older Island Batik fabric collection, Tropicana Twist.  You might remember my Log Cabin Under the Stars quilt, which I also made with this fabric line.  It's so bright and sunny.

Caramel helped hold down my paper piecing.  She was feeling a little camera shy.

Sparrow's Compass is a Mariner's Compass design.  I paper pieced it in sections, sewed the sections together, and then needle turn appliqued it to a green background square.

Aren't these fabrics bright and beautiful?

I ...
