Lone Star Blog Hop with Island Batik from Curlicue Creations

Hello!  Welcome to my day on the Island Batik Ambassador Lone Star Blog Hop.  This is my quilt.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.

For this challenge, we were to make a Lone Star style quilt, using the surprise fabric we received in our second 2022 Ambassador box, lap size or larger.  I have never made a Lone Star quilt before, and I was a little nervous about it.  I usually do my own patterns, but for this challenge I consulted a book in my sewing library, All-Star ...

I Made a New Window Quilt! from Curlicue Creations

If you didn't know, I live in an old, old, farmhouse.  It's drafty in the winter.  The wind blows straight at the front of the house and sometimes it feels like it's coming right on through.  Sometime in the last year the bedroom curtain that was on this window went kaput!  Since then it has been covered with this makeshift and super ugly green sheet.  Not very attractive, it fell down regularly, and it was certainly not going to help at all with the cold weather on the way.

Did you see the beautiful Christmas stocking I ...

Creative Christmas Stocking with Island Batik from Curlicue Creations

This month's Island Batik Ambassador challenge was to make a Christmas Stocking.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this stocking were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.

I was inspired to use the Emperor's Treasures strip pack and the dark coordinate, Merlot, that I received in my Island Batik Ambassador second shipment for 2022.

Though the purples and lime green are not very traditional Christmas colors, I love the rich look of them paired with the dark purple Merlot coordinating fabric.  The first thing I did was cut 2-1/2" strips of the dark purple ...

Triangle Tricks Island Batik Ambassador Challenge from Curlicue Creations

This is my Island Batik Ambassador project for the Month of May.  I'm calling it Triangle-A-Go-Go table runner.

For this month we were challenged to make a quilt featuring, you guessed it:  Triangles!  I do love triangles, and I had a great plan for this quilt.  But....when I really sat down and started designing it, I changed my focus, and decided to make a table runner instead.

I pulled out the Graphix 10" precuts stack and hot pink stash builders rolls that I received in my January box.  I love pink in my kitchen and these two colors ...

Plumeria ~ Flower of Sicily ~ Italian Color Builder Challenge from Curlicue Creations

This is Plumeria ~ Flower of Sicily.

Disclaimer:  The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.
It's my Island Batik Ambassador challenge quilt for March.  For this challenge, Aurifil thread supplied each of the Ambassadors with a Color Builders thread collection.  Each collection represents a different region of Italy.
I chose Sicily Yellow, partly because my family has roots in Sicily, and partly because I love these sunny bright yellows.  The three threads in this collection are 2105, 2115, and 1135.  They are all 50wt cotton.

I had a tough time ...
