Two Blocks from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. First of all, thank you for your many kind comments about the Tin Cup Store quilt. I'm so glad you like it. It was the most difficult of the art quilts I've attempted, and completing it has enhanced my confidence level. There are two prompts left in this round of quilts. I have ideas for both, and so I'll be working on the next one soon. To see how others in the group interpreted the "Vintage" prompt, visit The Endeavourers blog right here.

In other sewing, I finished top-stitching the first block for ...

A Finish in Black and White from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a sit and stitch day yesterday. I was able to get all the way around my quilt binding, and I have a finished quilt to show you today. It was created from Moda's Catnip panel. The panel was a gift from my friend, Sharon, quite some time ago. I'm making a concerted effort to turn several different panels I've acquired into finished quilts, and this was among them. This is the Catnip quilt. It ends up at 67 x 67 inches.

If I'm remembering correctly, I found a similar layout ...

Taking it Easy from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Yesterday's activities kept me busy most of the day. Still, somehow, it felt relaxing. I spent some time on my slow-stitching. This piece is densely stitched. It's still going to be a couple of days before I can move my hoop to the next section. Here's what I have so far.

When I was finished with that, I took a walk on the treadmill, and then I got busy making our dinner for the day. It's nice to have dinner already made ahead, and then I can just sit and relax at ...

Line By Line from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. My morning started too early today. I don't know about you, but I have this notion of a "witching hour," and if I wake up during that hour...any time after about 3:30 a.m....I can't get back to sleep. My brain seems to think I've slept long enough, and it winds up into full-blown thinking mode, making it difficult to relax and return to peaceful slumber. Usually, I give myself about an hour, and if I'm still awake, I might as well get up. The warm weather is part ...

Busy Kitchen Day and a Winner! from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! It's a coolish morning here at the Three Cats Ranch. Our temperature was into the 50's this morning...nice. It's much better sleeping weather when we can turn off the A/C and open some windows.

So who's up for some winning action this morning? I'm going to spin the random number generator and see who wins the fat quarter bundle I'm giving away to celebrate my 14th Blogiversary. And the winner is...

Abelian!

Congratulations, Abelian! I've sent you an email, so check your inbox. And thanks to all ...

Going Straight from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a stay-at-home day for me. Our window washer guy was supposed to be here, but he had a family emergency. It seems to be a week for canceled appointments for family emergencies. It's really fine with me though. I'm needing a quiet day without visitors. It's not quite as bad as going out in public, but it does put a crimp in my routine. Scott, the window washer, has been washing our windows for around 35 years. He did the windows at our previous home, and now he keeps the windows ...

Moving Slow from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I had a lazy day yesterday. I spent some time on my slow stitching, and then wasted a good part of the day. Probably I was dragging my feet getting to my quilting project. Once I got started I made a good amount of progress, but there's still a long way to go.

Before I did any sewing, I churned the Cherry Sherbet I made the day before. It's a recipe from the Pioneer Woman. Probably we won't eat this right away since we have several dessert options available, but I wanted to ...

Tackling Tomatoes Today from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! Things are just about to get crazy here at the Three Cats Ranch. Not that they aren't always crazy, but you know...insane. The next several days will be spent canning tomatoes, either as pasta sauce, or as plain old tomatoes. It's a big job, and I'm dreading it. When it's done though...that feeling of satisfaction and the gratification of having quarts of pasta sauce on the pantry shelves is worth all the work. If it ever stops being worth it, I'll stop doing it. So far, so good.

Take ...

A Day on my Feet from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. August is winding down. Did it seem as if it went fast? It did to me, but then the weeks before a trip always seem to fly by. It was a busy kitchen day here yesterday, and there was no time for sewing. I don't have much news to report, but a few things happened that caused me to reminisce.

After my morning slow-stitching, I went to work hoeing the garden. It's probably the last time I'll hoe this garden. As I've mentioned, Erik and Mae are coming up for dinner this ...

Approaching a Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. How's your Sunday morning going so far? I won all my word games this morning, and so I'm feeling pretty peppy. Don't worry, though. I'll settle down when the hot weather arrives tomorrow. We're expecting several days in the triple digits. I know a lot of you have been dealing with that for most of the summer. We really can't complain. Our weather has been fairly mild so far this summer.

Knowing it was going to get warm in the afternoon, I went to work first thing to finish up ...
