Summer Travels from Becca's Crazy Projects

We stopped at the World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise, Idaho.
I didn't take many photos. This is the Harpy Eagle. You don't get the size of this amazing raptor in photos. We also got to see the American Kestrel up close as part of their regular presentation.
This art piece was too great to not capture. This piece used the sculpted rattlesnake to support the bird.

The facility is expanding to house more raptors and provide more conservation and education about these amazing creatures at the top of their food chain.

Summer Travels from Becca's Crazy Projects

This is my "what I did on summer vacation". We took a week and traveled to Idaho to visit family. This is a view of the Snake River near Twin Falls in Idaho. We usually do our traveling in spring and fall just to take advantage of the cooler temperatures. The high desert wasn't my first choice but that's where family is.
We visited Shoshone Falls Park to see the waterfall.
I was pleased I captured this view with the rainbow.
The following day we hiked around Dierkes Lake.
The markers were plentiful.
We took our time. It ...

Idaho Quilt Retreat.....Day 3 & 4 from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I continue to work with my hand dyes...

I challenged myself to see just how far

I could go with curved piecing...

this top has no puckers, flat as a board !

I am using leftover strips and scraps

to create a border treatment

for the curved top...

Playing around with improv blocks...

I am liking the bold X blocks

to balance out all of those curves...

I also tried improv flying geese,

but they aren't the right fit...

The improv floating triangles blocks

seem to work in the borders...

Okay, I have a plan...

now to create more blocks ...

Idaho Quilt Retreat.....Day 2

I am working with my hand dyes today...

I brought along some

3/4 log cabin improv blocks...

I am using a flannel backed tablecloth

taped to the wall as my portable design wall...

I am using a wooden TV tray

as a pressing station...

It is kind of like a puzzle

getting these odd shaped blocks

to fit together...

I am building this in units,

rather than rows...

I am calling this....DONE !

Here is what the other Quilters are working on:

Donna's.... Raggedy Ann Quilt

She fussy cut all of the applique ...
